THIS EXPERIENCE LIKELY STRENGTHENED DUKE'S TEAM . THEY AVE AN EXCELLENT CHANCE IN THE NCAA TOURNEY . COOPER FLAG HAS SUCH AN INSTINCT TO GRAVITATE TOWARD A CHAMPIONSHIP FEELING . THEY'RE YOUNG , YET MORE CHALLENGING COMPETITION MIGHT DEVELOP THEM IN TERMS OF FINDING INNER STRENGTH.....
Explain to me how the entire media is saying that it was a final four game atmosphere with 2 top ten teams but every Duke fan says that Kentucky didn't beat us we beat ourselves. Kentucky's best player scored 1 point, it was the least amount of 3's the team has made, and we can fight back and forth the rest of the day about other facts. Kentucky fans show respect by saying we don't want to play again you turn that into we would win 9 out of 10 times. The truth is we have been you for 15 years under Cal, all the 17 and 18 year old talent but can't win the games that matter. By the end of that game is was Kentucky's 10 deep bench vs 2.5 Duke Freshman. Part because Kentucky changed their defense and wore them out, the other was your coach was playing people 32-37 minutes and having Cooper Flagg go iso with his non dominant hand. 10 years ago you could win on raw talent. Now, you better get your bench expanded because deep benches at Kansas, Auburn, and Arizona know they can take your legs by running.
Jaxon Robinson got locked down hard, and he's known to not show up sometimes, its not something that is rare for him. UK shot 44% from 3 in first half and still was down by 9. Maluach and Sion James going out of the game with injuries is when UK went on a run and caught up, Duke shot 17% from 3 while missing 10 WIDE open shots, there's videos showing their 10 wide open ones being missed, and the game was STILL tied at 10 seconds left. Duke is 12-15 points better than Kentucky if those 2 dont leave the game. UK was outmatched.
@@unitywindowdoor2260 Kansas and MSU shot the ball poorly too, it was swapping the type of basketball that objectively contributed to bad shooting. Pope had UK practice w/ that specific type of ball, it was smart and helped you guys shoot a higher % than us, but we were still winning big. If you don't think Duke wins without 2 injuries you're high.
@kakkycoasties8670 that's a lot of excuses that are only excuses. Kentucky could have lost 3 players during the game with no fall off because that's how they prepare. Duke by the end we're on Spaghetti legs and had been worn out. If it makes you feel better I can make excuses. Our best player only had 1 point, if Flagg only had 1 point Duke loses by 20. Our center was only 3-12, he makes his usual shots and we win by double digits. Brea, who averages 19 a game, only had 7-8 points. He hits his mark and Kentucky wins by 15. How about Duke played excellent defense the first half, was dominant in the paint and still only had a single digit lead. Kentucky made adjustments in the second half, outscored Duke in the paint, cut the rebound advantage to 4, and took Duke's legs which made them miss open shots. Good Game is all I got left. Also good luck with Arizona, Kansas, and Auburn.
@@kakkycoasties8670 see Randy's thorough (and obvious) reply regarding excuses. I believe Duke is the better team right now overall (talent advantage and Flagg is generational) and would win a 5 game series. I could be wrong. Your argument is that UK played over their head and Duke just had an off game and mysterious random cramps and injuries. Call out "pick" and James doesn't get injured by a great pick from Amari . Whose fault is that? Sub more players and they will cramp less and get less fatigued and be fresher and availablein crunch time.. Do you have those extra players? Who's advantage is that? UK missed countless open looks and easy shots as well. Credit Duke for that. They play these games live for a reason rather than just running models on a computer...
I thought both teams were very good defensively and in moving the ball. Kentucky is good this year, going to be a problem for everyone based on that game. The difference is that Duke had tons of open 3s and couldn't buy one for most of the game. Kentucky missed their share too, but they had more long/lower percentage 3s from memory. Almost every Duke 3 was pretty much wide open. Duke took very few "bad" shots. They were successful in getting the shot they wanted--just couldn't hit them. Whether that will be the norm or an outlier, time will tell.

Kon looked like a deer in headlights in pregame warmups on tv, that gave me a bad feeling from jump, terrible shooting by the whole team ensued
Duke is a great team they r loaded, Ky finally has people that can actually play defense Pitino Style scratch, claw, push, shove.

@@kakkycoasties8670 So does missing all the shots make Duke good or bad?

That’s kinda funny, thinking Kentucky would just win 1 out nine
