    "Don't think about winning, don't think about the future. You're in this moment, you're playing the seven ball." You makes it sound so easy. I guess that's why you are one of the greatest.

      Great come back I use your advice in some future games although you make it look eazy.

    I love hearing pros like these talk through their matches. I often pause to think what I would do in those situations and realize how over-complicated and error-prone my plans can be.

    That was a very nice win. I really loved your entire commentary. It was candid and honest. Your attitude is what makes YOU a champion. I know the game well, although my execution is not always consistent. But for a 70 year young player my game has earned respect in my local pool hall.
    Thank you for an excellent video!!!

    2 of my top 5 favorite players at the table at one time. Great patience, safety play and shot making makes for a beautiful game. Add the element of knowing what goes through their mind throughout a game ,and you have a winning combination. Awesome and great job!

    This was the best “pool” video I’ve ever watched. Cogent commentary by the player, without all of the BS from non-playing commentators.

    Really great to hear the thinking and especially the montra of 'keep it simple' and when you take a risk, make sure it's the right time to take a risk and do it in a calculated manner. Great job!

    So true, especially in 9 ball to make something simple into something so hard due to stress. Pocket the ball and think of nothing else but that moment is pure gold for advice. So simple but so often overlooked in that rush to glory.

    You have a heart. Your mental state is tough. This is what every pool player should have regardless of their skill level. Not even every professional have this heart and mental toughness. Only the champions and most awarded players have heart and mental toughness.

    This play-by-play description is awesome. I wouldn't have thought the cue ball would naturally go back behind the 5 at 3:00. It's great to know you didn't put any english on that shot to get that leave. Time to try it myself!

    thank you, that was really good I totally enjoyed it and I loved that you gave us a chance to look into your mind and what you were actually thinking of during the match, maybe I can help you now there's a very famous book that has nothing to do with Pool but will help you tremendously I guarantee it.the name of the book,the inner game of tennis by Timothy galway just read the first 5 chapters. I probably missed spelled his last name, let me give youA teaser one of the chapters goes into detail, why can't I do what I know how to do when I need to do it, many famous American pool players read the first five chapters before they play a serious match, for real enjoy.loved your voice and your commentary...

    • @VinayPai
      @VinayPai 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll second "The Inner Game of Tennis". A great book that's probably applicable to almost any sport or game involving physical skill. I'll also recommend a similar, more pool-centric book called "Pleasures of Small Motions".

    • @andrewsilverman6815
      @andrewsilverman6815 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Delightful. I did hear two conflicting thought patterns though. You absolutely make the case for staying in the present, not worrying about score or winning, just make the shot. Love it! But earlier, especially when you were three down and had no wins, you were quite worried about the score. You didn't want to be down 4-0. That's natural, you are human despite being so gorgeous. But champions come back - from 4-0, from 6-1, from whatever. NOT THAT I WOULD KNOW. YOU ARE OUT THERE DOING IT! But I have seen pro tennis players fight off match point repeatedly and go on to win two more sets and win the match. So all I'm saying is that I still sense and hear "I'm thinking I have a good chance to win this match" around the push out. You're going to win more if you can make the make the shot - stay in the present - don't worry about the score mode. The sweetest victories are when you come back from behind! ❤️

      Relax and Win ,......World Class Competitors have the ability to reach a state of relaxed physical body /highly focused , concentrated mind during high pressure
      situations. Sometimes a couple of beers will do the trick !!!! LOL.

      Yeah right just like racing. Do not focus on winning and getting ahead of your opponent in front of you but focus on the circuit, the turns and how the car in front of you moves so you could analyze and over take later on.
      Just think how to solve the problem on the table instead of winning VERY GOOD ADVICE!

    • @brettbarker8444
      @brettbarker8444 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      World Events Judgement 💯. True in motorcycle racing too when the leader is too focused on the guy behind them (the “what if...”) They aren’t focusing on the track ahead of them and hitting their lines. Then every mistake is amplified in their head and they end up losing.

      For me concentration is higher than focus. Difference? Concentration you put your mind into things that you are doing so it could be 2 or so focus is just putting your mind in one thing. So when you concentrate your alertness is higher. Just my opinion. I am the kind of man who concentrates more who have a higher sense of alertness than just doing focus.
      So you? Focus or concentrate?

    My comment to you for you to get better is to practice the break. Break normal, soft and hard and super hard. Then be more good in your pocketing. Practice 4 rail bank and kick shots and then practice combinations. Practice safety for you to gain better cue ball control. You did an upset against a world champion.
