Honestly I could listen to you tell stories all day long! And your yarn room is amazing! Over this last summer (I am in the US) I did a similar project where I emptied my entire yarn room and had my husband build me bookcases similar to yours. Once they were up and in place I purged...donate what yarn I had that didn't make me squeal with delight (there really is such a thing) and stocked my new shelves similarly to yours and though not a perfect rainbow the end result is a room that calms me and that I can surround myself in to reduce stress and recharge my batteries. Love your channel so much!
Hi Christa wow what a gorgeous display of yarn your so lucky to have all the space.i have my grown up family of three still living here with me and husband so no room .all my yarn is in my room in boxes and tote bags.i wish I could be more organized.thanks for sharing Christa 💖💖
Oh thank you so much, @gingerfoxx1476! I thought it was pretty excellent too! I'll have to tell my guy - he'll be THRILLED you thought so too! THANK YOU! 🌺🌻🌸
Great, entertaining episode,Christa.I bought a white IKEA long storage fabric hanging cube thingy and I'm put it sideways so each compartment holds the main colours..easy to locate yarn as I need.👌Have a lovely weekend.xx🙏👋🐨🌏♥️
I love your yarn wall, the rainbow of colors is very enjoyable to look at. Great ideas for organizing your yarn. I’m like your grandma,my yarn is in totes and bags crowded in my room. I live with my oldest daughter and her family and it’s a small house and doesn’t have much storage. But I’m grateful for a home with people I love. 💜🙏🏻
You are a wonderful story teller and I love your yarnscape!!! I never knew this was even a thing, it's so cool. I crocheted as a young girl with my mom and sister. Now in my 40's and as a single momma, I am trying to get my own little ones off the screens and working with yarn, bonding with them making memories, and they love it! I don't have a lot of funds, but this video has inspired me to put my humble little collection on our bookshelf and start a one shelf yarnscape! We will grow from there 😊🥰 I'm so excited and so are the kids! They are already thinking of all the things we are going to craft ☺️
Thanks for organization suggestions... and LOVE scrapping the term 'yarn stash' and proudly using'yarnscape'!!❤❤ I organize on bookshelves by type and then color. My yarn and fabric are all on one wall in my sewing/yarn room! It makes me happy everyday to look at it.
Saskatchewan girl here!!! Maidstone is just up the road from my hometown and I thought of you Christa when I drove my parents to North Battleford and we drove the Cut Knife way. I really need to organize and yarnscape my yarnia room! Thanks so much for your videos and tutorials!!!
Thank you for sharing that story. My grandmother taught me to crochet in the early 70s. I’ve left it and come back over the years, but have more time now. Juan The Yarn Addict has so many talented friends and I am glad he shares them with his viewers. I look forward to following your channel.
I remember your first videos and your first yarnscape walls! Your voice was softer when you started out. I remember youmshowing us how you wound your kenyan skeins into cakes! What nostalgia!
We totally had a Rec Room growing up! In fact my Dad, Grandfather & uncles built it. I have managed to Rainbow my 4 weight acrylic on my largest shelf & I love it. Thanks for the inspiration Christa! I loved seeing those blast from the past clips too! 🧶💜🤗
Keeping the yarn in bags is such a good idea so it doesnt tangle or get dusty. I see a lot of not wrapped yarns on peoples shelves, and its pretty, but Im allergic to dust mites and just looking at it makes my hands itch. Lol. Or it gets tangled and spills out and it really is not restful to the eye. Your yarnscape is gloriously neat and very beautiful. I have my yarn in small stacked closed transparent bins, organized by project. For me its in order of what I plan to work on next on top, in order downward.
I love your yarnscape! And you do work through your yarn which is so important. Doesn't work in my brain, however. I bought a lot of yarn during the lockdown and currently trying to declutter the whole house. I know there are lots of colours I won't use. Now i buy with projects in mind and use up what i already have asap. Donate yarn to kids classes. I put my projects in a dresser drawer with the pattern and my books have post-its for future works. Simplicity is my key.
Your yarnscape and crafting room are beautiful. I live in a small apartment so I keep my yarn in a mix of plastic totes and huge ziplock bags. They take up residence on the shelf in my hall closet.
hiya christa!! inspiration is always welcome. im a sort by color person. evolution is good for crafters. it shows us what we have, need and need to shed. loved the grandma story. wish i had gotten to know mine. my shelving has arrived so, now to put it together and enjoy. being creative is a huge part of who i am. xoxo from colorado!
I really love how you talked about your grandma and you making a yarnscape for her. I had heard Juan use yarnscape before and didn't know where he got it. Now I do! Going to start using that instead of calling it my stash.
Hai aku dari Indonesia.. senang melihat mu mengatur semua benang benang itu.. seperti punya toko benang sndiri d rumah ❤❤... salam cinta dari Indonesia ❤❤
Hi Christa! 😊I LOVE your Yarnscape wall! In every video I marvel at how you seems to find shelves of the PERFECT dimensions to hold all your yarn, and how it is in plastic wraps to keep any dust out - it is just spectacular! Thank you for sharing your story with us - I felt like you were describing my life in parts of your story, LOL! I'm not elderly like your grandmother, but I am broken unfortunately, which complicates things. I want to create a Yarnscape in my craft room but my hubby said for that to work I'd have to get rid of all of my card-making supplies... and I don't want to. I'd really rather move those to the basement (since I don't use them as much since I learned how to crochet) and bring all my yarn upstairs, but I am disabled and not physically capable of doing this myself. We moved to this house almost 5 years ago and I didn't unpack my craft room right away because unpacking the kitchen, the bathroom, etc. were more important obviously. Then my dog got very ill, and I want to spend every moment with him that I could, so I didn't work on my craft room at the far end of the house. Then he passed and I was devastated and didn't pick up a hook for 2 months because crocheting brings me joy and I didn't feel joyful (when I did, it was a rainbow paw prints blanket in his memory ❤). I basically only cried and slept for the first two weeks. Shortly after that, my body broke - I needed help walking, I wasn't supposed to 'bend, twist, lean or lift more than 10 pounds', my balance is horrible so stairs were supposed to be kept at a minimum... so it was difficult to unpack anything, lift any boxes, etc. so it has basically sat there because when hubby helps me I just get criticism for having so much stuff I don't use and I don't have any family (VERY dysfunctional, they think crafts are stupid, and none of them live nearby) or friends who can help me. All of my yarn stayed in boxes in the basement that I packed up inside garbage bags, stacked neatly inside with care, to keep them from getting wet, etc. Every weekend hubby would help me down the basement and I'd go through a box or two, and write down what yarns I had, how many skeins, what colorways, if they are the same dye lot, etc. and I created a chart of my yarn inventory in a table in a Word document (I prefer that to spreadsheets). I donated a ton of yarn before the move and still continue to do so as my preferences change, and continue to donate to local animal shelters (they either sell it at yard sale events or give it to people who make things with it which are sold at bazaars to help raise money for the animal rescues as well). It is frustrating because I can't go to the basement without his help. He gets upset when I ask to buy one more skein of this or one more skein of that to finish a project because I have so much in the basement, and he isn't wrong, I do, I am blessed. He doesn't get that you can't just grab any yarn and making it work with a project you already started because the colors don't go, or it is different fibers or a different thickness, etc. But I wish I had a Yarnscape like that to hold my yarn and display it in such a beautiful way, and make it easier to use... and have such a serene, peaceful place to craft, like yours, you know? It would be a financial investment to get shelves set up like yours, and I don't know how I'd get them without my hubby (maybe have something delivered?), how I would assemble them, etc. without help. Thank you for sharing all these tips with us and sharing your stories, I really enjoyed and related to them! ❤ Meredith
Awe! Thanks so much for sharing, @craftymath-chick! That must be so frustrating! The things we take for granted, like our limbs working, right? My hip "fell out" while I slept yesterday - SLEPT - so woke up unable to walk. It's hard to accept the limitations of our physical bodies - yikes! Turns out I sit too long during the days - crocheting, computer stuff, patterns, etc. So better stop typing and get moving instead! hugs!!! xx
I have a lot of yarn, in a lot of places, it was organised, but because I work and other things, I tend to just dump it in the room it's in. I need to get in there and sort it 😂😂😂. Mine will never resemble your yarnscape in a million years, yours is so dreamy and satisfying to look at ❤😂
I keep all mine in plastic totes for now. I am a retired pedigreed African Pygmy Hedgehog breeder so all my shelves have hog cages on them. One day I'll be able to yarnscape the shelves.
I live in my camper and have limited room. My yarn was taking over, literally. So I've stopped buying for the most part, only if someone wants something made and I don't have the yarn already. I used to sell Paparazzi jewelry too, so I have lots n lots of that. I'm working on downsizing it all then I want to make the toyhauler part, my yarn room. Since I got rid of my motorcycle. I absolutely LOVE looking at your yarnscape.
This is so nostalgic ❤❤ Krista! How beautiful how you illustrated this! 😊 Thank you! I’ve been a subbie of your channel for many years, so, this brings back memories
I always stare at your wall in your videos lol it is so very pleasing to the eye. I love the soft pastels the most. It's a dream of mine to have a wall like this one day but it will be a little while before I will have it. Thank you for the inspiration to get my tail in gear and organize what I already have. Have a blessed day!!
I love your rainbow yarn shelves! I wish I had room in my home to have a shelf to organize my yarn stash. I just don’t have any floor or wall space to do that. It’s such a struggle and super stressful when it’s not organized.
Thank you for sharing about your yarn storage. I have some shelves in the dining room/living room (where I do most of my crochet). This is for yarn that I plan to use "soon". You are an inspiration & I especially noticed your variegated! I have a small cubby area upstairs for other yarn. Like you, I just gave away a bunch of yarn -- as my storage is so limited & can only keep the yarn that I "100% love".
So beautiful 😍 I still haven't found a spot in my apartment for a yarnscape, but I'll find one! I haven't been reading books as much, maybe I'll use my tall bookcase 🤔😁👍🤷♀️💕
I love how organized your yarn is! I usually just watch, but as you were showing everything, the sea turtle caught my eye and I would love to know if you have a pattern or even tutorial on how to make it? Thank you!
What a great encouraging video. I’m going to start on mine today. Your beautiful yarn wall was actually the reason I started following you, it was so beautiful to look at. And then your fun personality added to the joy. Thank you for sharing. From San Diego 🙋🏻♀️
I love your story ❤I wish there was a super like 👍🏻 button I’d click x100 ☺️ you’re grandma sounds like a sweetie pie and she’s my spirit animal lol I try to put my yarn away in clear totes I don’t have much room so yeah I wish I could do mine like yours Amen Sista “Yarn is Life” it is! ❤I love looking at yarn it recharges me,makes me happy, inspires me,gives my crojo back each time, and it really does give me life!!!! Yassss say it loud and proud I ❤ yarn!!!! I hope 2024 brings nothing but yarn happiness and inspiration for you Crista ❤😊
I used to sort my phone apps by color too because it's the first thing I think about when looking for an app. Not doing it right now because I had to switch phone and I haven't gotten around to it yet.
Thanks you so much I would love to have organiz place and I am gonna try it as you said because I am a yarn lover ❤ All my yarn stay in the bags which is sad 😢and I agree if you love something you wanna see it and enjoy it 😊 Thanks Crhista I love your story its inspired me and its touched my heart ❤ Love fron Ontario❤
Great explanation Christa! Loved seeing some of the older footage & the evolution of your yarnscape, which I remember well! I have black cube lock together shelving for my yarn which used to be my son's. As I mostly use 4ply (fingering weight) yarn the skeins are smaller, so they get lost in the depth of the cubes & are stacked with 2 columns deep. I'm still keeping mine by yarn type in colour order. As the colour selection is limited for my yarns it's not a beautiful colourscape like yours, but I know exactly where everything is & when I need more of each colour as it's easily visible to me. The yarn room is also the guest bedroom where my son sleeps when he comes over a couple of nights per week. I also have yarn all around my recliner!!!! 🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Looks great...love the organization. The story about your Grandmother was very touching. Question: What is in your binders...patterns? Thanks for all you do...I enjoy following you. 🧶
I always love looking at your yarnscape!🌈 I keep all mine in totes and bags because I just don't have any room in my house to store it any other way. Have a wonderful day 💖
Love your yarnscape! 💖 You inspire me so much. At the moment my yarn is hidden away in my cube storage containers as I don’t have a huge range of colours to rainbow my colours. I wish I did. Being a single mum I can only buy when I can afford it. But crocheting is my self help place to get away from my anxiety. Love all your videos 💖🌸
Hi Christa! I have a question? Where do you get the bags you use to store your yarn? I thought of ziplocks but that could get expensive for me with all my yarn, but I don’t want my yarn to get dusty? Suggestions, please!??
Is there any chance you could make a hoodie scarf My Grandaughter wants one she is 9 but shes very tall 5'6 right now taller than me lol She likes the ones with pockets i would be grateful if you could do a tutorial on one Thank you
My yarn has been in tubs and can't see what I got. So we are moving cause. They are selling this house anyway. But I hope to get it organized wherever we move. We are down sizing so I think might be a problem Thank you for sharing❤
I’m trying to figure out how to organize my yarn because I had bought a bunch of mystery bags so I have random skeins of different colors and fibers. I regret not picking one type of yarn and buying that in multiple colors like you do, but I don’t want to get rid of what I have either. I’d appreciate any suggestions!! 💜🧶
I love your yarnscape! Where do you get all of the bags to put the yarn in. I buy my yarn one or two skeins at a time from a craft store so I don't have bags it shipped in. Is this what you are using. I would love to have the yarn out where I can see it but I don't want it to get so dusty.
I still think 'stash' shouldn't shame anyone. Stash = supplies. However! When you Can't see it, that is when it starts to cause frustration. Or if you have so much that it negatively affects other parts of your life, then a stash of any kind can be bad. I totally agree with you about seeing your supplies. Having all supplies organized to be nice to gaze upon becomes inspiring. I live in a small town without a craft supply store, other than Walmart ( and if you live in the USA - Walmart has become less reliable for crafting supplies). So I can't go shopping every other day/sale or what have you. So I stock up on "supplies" for when I am wanting to start a new item. I use to use totes that were not see through and it is really difficult to keep a mental tally of what is in each box (without opening it every time you are wanting to find something). So I am alright with saying I have a stash of supplies for those reasons. I changed to bookshelves and see through bags around the time you were editing your yarnscape. Even my husband was surprised that it made my hobby more productive. There is less unnecessary spending on "repeat" items because I already have a really good idea of what I have and how much of it, because of changing how I stored it until I am ready to use it. Granted, I still have never ran out of yarn, yet. But I have become inspired by and energized by seeing what I have in my stash. I know the types of projects I tend to start more often and how much yarn I might need and try to keep what I will grab first on hand. Then all I need to do is look at what is there and find a pattern and off I go😃. It is always good to find ways of caretaking supplies to make the supplies more appealing and available. Plus looking at your rainbow of yarn is inspiring. I think I am coming due for another refresh of organization since I have purchased more yarn since the last time and I might need another shelf to make that possible😅. As always thank you for sharing all the "yarny goodness".
There’s nothing wrong with the word stash! I think it’s fun! Most people are going to say you have too much yarn. That’s ridiculous. There is no such thing! 😂
That's a very sweet story about your grandma. What a great solution.
Thank you, @grannyt6819! 🌈🌼🌸
I love when you tell stories. I listen to you while I crochet. ❤
Oh I am so glad you enjoyed them, @eladialopez3636!! Thank you! 🌷🌺🌷

Oh thank you so much, @KellieDTravis! 🌺🌻🌸
I love your rainbow yarn shelves! I wish I had room in my home to have a shelf to organize my yarn stash. I just don’t have any floor or wall space to do that. It’s such a struggle and super stressful when it’s not organized.
Thank you, @lisacain35! 🌈🌼🌸
Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow it looks lovely yarn and beautiful colours it's amazing ❤❤
Thank you, @raziavalera2606! 🌈🌼🌸
Oh I am so glad, @YarnWithHeart! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Hi Christa! Thanks for another fun and useful video! Much love always.
Awe! Thank you so much, @louloustreasuretrove2122! 🌺🌷🌺
So beautiful 😍 I still haven't found a spot in my apartment for a yarnscape, but I'll find one! I haven't been reading books as much, maybe I'll use my tall bookcase 🤔😁👍🤷♀️💕
That's awesome, @livc1981! Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
Great advice! Thank you for the tour, and the flashback images. Seeing how your yarnscape journey evolved was inspiring.
Oh I am so glad you liked it, @jahdec6! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
Awe! Thank you so much, @beads2yarn! 🌺🌷🌺

Oh I am so glad you liked it, @vonniechannel2818! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
I used to sort my phone apps by color too because it's the first thing I think about when looking for an app. Not doing it right now because I had to switch phone and I haven't gotten around to it yet.
I agree @juulian1306! 👍 A bit of a pain to set up, but then SO worth it! Thank you! 🌺🌻🌸

Oh I am so glad, @starsembroidery8102! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Sounds fabulous, @kerrynwright! Thanks! 🌺🌷🌸
It’s lovely to look at.. I love all the colors. It would make me want to never want to l
Me too, @user-id2vw9fd3m! Thank you! 🌷🌸🌷
Looks great...love the organization. The story about your Grandmother was very touching.
Question:
What is in your binders...patterns?
Thanks for all you do...I enjoy following you. 🧶
I always love looking at your yarnscape!🌈
I keep all mine in totes and bags because I just don't have any room in my house to store it any other way.
Have a wonderful day 💖
Hi, @denisejf!! Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
Love your room. And do you have a pattern for that green turtle on top. I love it
Love your yarnscape!
Awe! Thank you so much, @rileyfs1959! 🌺🌷🌺
😅😅😅😅😅😅I have the same problem with my husband he het it ,what I do when he go to work I shopping when when I am off.
Hi Christa! I have a question? Where do you get the bags you use to store your yarn? I thought of ziplocks but that could get expensive for me with all my yarn, but I don’t want my yarn to get dusty? Suggestions, please!??
I don't organize my yarn, but after seeing this I will lol
Oh I am so glad, @valeriegriffith3415! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Is there any chance you could make a hoodie scarf My Grandaughter wants one she is 9 but shes very tall 5'6 right now taller than me lol She likes the ones with pockets i would be grateful if you could do a tutorial on one Thank you
I loved this video.. ❤❤
Oh I am so glad you enjoyed it, @user-id2vw9fd3m!! Thank you! 🌷🌺🌷
My yarn has been in tubs and can't see what I got. So we are moving cause. They are selling this house anyway. But I hope to get it organized wherever we move. We are down sizing so I think might be a problem Thank you for sharing❤
Sounds like a challenge, @cherylherrera6917, but SO liberating to be able to create a new space - even if it is a closet! You got this! 🌺🌷🌸
Hi, @StitchesbySharonH!! I'd still go by color, and plan on making a video explaining it all in the next couple weeks! HUGS and - Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
I love your yarnscape! Where do you get all of the bags to put the yarn in. I buy my yarn one or two skeins at a time from a craft store so I don't have bags it shipped in. Is this what you are using. I would love to have the yarn out where I can see it but I don't want it to get so dusty.
Hi, @CozyCornerCrochet!! There is a link in the description for yarn bags - very similar to mine!
Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
Awe! Thank you so much, @Andrea_of_AtLastCrochet! You're awesome! 🌺🌷🌺
There’s nothing wrong with the word stash! I think it’s fun! Most people are going to say you have too much yarn. That’s ridiculous. There is no such thing! 😂
Thank you, @fionastube2011! 🌈🌼🌸
i'm just too scared of bugs getting into it and eating it!!!!
I know, riiiiight, @aliceboss3134!?? I was too, but so far only one mouse has caused me trouble. Touch wood! lol Thanks! 🌸🌼🌺
