- 150 Years Underground! Rusty Antique Pliers Restoration
Restoration Video Overview
It was full of rust when I found it on the bank of a river. It was a rusty antique pliers when I saw it. At this time it seemed that it must have been under the ground for 70 years due to which its condition was so bad that it was completely filled with dust and rust. I brought it to my office for restoration and started the restoration. Before doing the restoration I had to strip the rust first then restored it completely. Now Its Useable

150 years ❌ 150 days✅
150 days 😅😅😅🎉🎉
🤣🤣🤣
I may be wrong but I don't think they had plastic-wrapped handles in the 1870s
So how old can it be and when did plastic become independent?
@@Dixler683seriously?!
You’re not wrong. Those pliers are probably a lot closer to the 1970’s than they are the 1870’s.
First thing to show the lie
It's not a plastic, it's rubber. The pliers look to be made in 1930-ty
150 year old ❌🥲🥲
1500 year old ✔️😁😁
I am a user of tools since WW 2. “Helped” my dad with his older tools. Don’t recall ever seeing plastic on the small tools until I got older, although I can’t determine exactly when they started. I can determine that I owned and used my first ones in late 1955 (age 18). I confess to being older than 21.😢
I made that set of pliers in May of 1873. I can remember that because after work I caught a 13lb catfish.😊 I’m tired now. I think I’ll take a nap beside my grey mule.
I think you are pulling my leg : ) there were only red and brown mules as I remember because I almost hit one with my car that year
@ I love it.🤠
@@RichardGarcia-fz8be Everything in the old days was black, grey and white- have a look at the photos and movies from back then. As years went on, more and more things got colors.
So fancy to pliers
The title is misleading as it claims this plier is 150 years old and have been buried underground! Plastic was invented in 1907 and it took many years after that to be used for industrial usage. Thus the fact that this plier had plastic handles proves it is definitely not 150 years old and it's actually much newer.
Also it was quite surprising there was no rust between the plier's jaws when they were separated!
Great restoration!
Thanks Kate
How are you

Thank you! Cheers!
Really great job ❤
Thank You
Good job bro 👍
The first flexible thermoplastic, polyethylene was invent by Imperial Chemical Industries in 1932.
At the most your non antique contemporary pliers were in the ground for 92 years and only if they started using polyethylene for pliers handles at the moment it was discovered. It actually took a fair few more years for that to happen.
Retired industrial chemist here with much experience in synthetic resins for surface coatings.
I am also a trained metallurgist and amateur blacksmith and I would guess by the modern form of these pliers and the relatively light pitting of your ''antique'' pliers that they have been in the ground for maybe 5 to 10 years.
None the less, if the pliers at the end are the ones you started with it is an exceptional restoration.
So beautiful indeed !❤
Thank You ♥️😍

I took all the details. It's only 5 year old underground. 😂😂😂
🤔😂
@AntiqueRestoration-1 🤗🤗
3:25 bu işleme hiç gerek yoktu, sonrasında zaten pensenin her yerini makine ile zımpara yapıp temizlediniz. 😂
Watch 2x
😮😮wow
I think this nipperds are from 1974 not 1874. So it's 50 years old not 150. Your work is good.
150 साल पहले कहा 😂😂😂😂 इस का आविष्कार कहा हो सकता है यार
great restauration. but wouldn't it have been much cheaper to buy a new one?
thats not the objective. i dont want to watch he bought the new one.
Me preguntó lo mismo creo que solo es el arte de devolver la vida a un objeto que ya no servía
If your trying to loosen the jaws, turn the pliers up so the oil 'sits' on the hinge pivot instead of having the oil fall down the sides. A pool of oil on the pivot will save oil and drag it down via gravity instead of it dripping off the point where you want it.
Once worked for a group who let their tools get into a state of disrepair and that little trick saved them the cost of several new pliers.
Thank you for the great tip, davfree9732! I appreciate you sharing your experience and that helpful trick with the oil. It’s always great to learn new methods to keep tools in good condition. Thanks for watching and contributing!
Asmr 😌
Deep fried pliers 😋
I recalled seeing one of these types of pliers in my father's toolkit in the 50's.
Yes, it is very old,
Modern Lineman Plyers made within the last 50 years or so. No way they are 150 years old.
But from its condition it seems that it is so old in the sentence
Soil + acid = antique
How to make a thing rusted
The First Synthetic Plastic
The first synthetic polymer was invented in 1869 by John Wesley Hyatt, who was inspired by a New York firm’s offer of $10,000 for anyone who could provide a substitute for ivory. The growing popularity of billiards had put a strain on the supply of natural ivory obtained through the slaughter of wild elephants. By treating cellulose derived from cotton fiber with camphor, Hyatt discovered a plastic that could be crafted into a variety of shapes and made to imitate natural substances like tortoiseshell, horn, linen, and ivory.
Side-Cutting Pliers
Mathias Klein company (USA) side cutting pliers have been around since 1857. In fact, the first tools Mathias Klein made was a linesman’s plier. Soft material was added on the outer surface of the side cutting pliers for better comfort and a firmer grip. Most probably using John Wesley Hyatt composite synthetic polymers (Plastics) after 1869.
Incredible effort for a first video. The views are well-deserved-great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!♥️
And there was plastic 150 years ago 😂
😂😂😂
You are right.😂
150 days maybe not 150 years hahah😂😂
Great job!!!
Nice work, we saw 17 min re but it must have taken you a long time.
To give a new look
God bless you.
God bless you, hoping to see new videos like this.
Hare Krishna 🙏
Those pliers were manufactured within the past 50 years. Still, a nice restoration. Just don't go into the age-appraisal business, lol.
I thought it could be this old that I had used gas but I don't know the exact date. 😂
A good 3 or 4 day bath in WD-40 would probably make it all a lot easier.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A lot of play in the central joint now. But looks good.
Oooooo !
Wow
It looks like leather with the stitches
di tunggu video menarik berikutnya, salam dari indonesia 🇮🇩

આ બધું નવરા લોકો નું કામ છે, આટલી મહેનત કરવા કરતાં નવું ૧૫૦ નું આવે.😂
How about a video on pre-rusting for TH-cam restoration?
It should have completely decomposed in 150 years
So difficult restoration idea..

150 days
Correct , plastic was invented way after that date , for the hundredth time stop exaggerating 😊
If you don't know how old then don't put 150 years...click bait
Seriously? A new pair £5!
I think they fell out of Fred Flintstones back pocket!
😂😂 they invented those tools ⚒️ 150 years ago wow from the civil war era 😂😂😂😂
Itne rupees me naya AA jata 😂😂😂😂
More like 10 years outside
150 year no iron you will found under a soil. Only 5year below it's depend onwhat type of soil
😂😂😂 150 years old
How do you know it was the 1870's
Was plastic invented at that time??
15 years no 150 ...
150 years 😂😂😂😂
150 лет тому назад драже дедушки этих плоскогупций не было😅
You want me to believe some lineman lost his pliars in 1874? I'm guessing 1974.
Yes the metal is shiny but the wire cutter doesn't touch and isn't straight....idk, seems like good practice for metal restoring but the tool doesn't seem to be very useful
