I had a stroke in 2008. At a rehab center, Matt, giving the therapy and exercise, was like a Marine drill instructor. He got us UP! NO excuses! We had to eat with our non-functioning hand, if any. When the therapists left the room, people would start eating with their other hand they were so hungry. But we got caught! In one week, I was no longer in a wheel chair. This is very important for raising awareness of such important disease, as only 15 % percent of those who get stroke manage to be in hospital on time within 3 hours to receive the appropriate intervention, because of the vague presentation and not being much alarming like having chest pain.
My daughter acted fast but the hospital sent me home saying it was a hemiplegic migraine, next day vision was going so they admitted me, the next day (33hrs after stroke) they did an MRI and told me I had a stroke . I was 49yrs and drs rule out stroke too quick because of being considered a young age for a stroke, I'm left with weakness and numbness down left side and shocking memory, but I'm very grateful to sgill be here, onwards and upwards.

I'm so young and I've thank God never experienced the death of a loved one and it terrifies me. 10 months after ,the Stroke. , A week after I was walking without walker , cane . My 20yr old daughter takes care of things . Confusion. Memory still to be worked on . I am 35 and i had stroke just three days ago (Thursday 4th Oct 2018). I was diagnosed with Acute Ischemic Stroke with blood clot in my brain. My whole perspective of life changed just like that. I was fortunate with no severe damage to my brain or physical abilities. First thing i did after i was discharged was flushed down my ciggerate packed down the toilet. I am still fighting the urge for my nicotine fix. *QUIT SMOKING*

Very good - excellent illustrations, clear wording and good to have the written captions too. My only comment is the healthcare team - why is the doctor a man and the other healthcare professionals female. There are male occupational and physiotherapists, male dieticians, speech language pathologists etc. just as there are female doctors. That being said, it is a valuable tool to use in education about stroke and stroke prevention. Thank you.

Daddy had a stroke on February's 26th, 2013. He was only 54 years old. He's 65 years old now. His stroke left him paralyzed and bedridden. He now lies in one position. He's in lots of pain. I'm scared that he might die. When he was a little boy, he was brought up on chocolates, cookies, cake, ice-cream, and other kinds of desserts. Daddy never smoked. The only alcohol he's ever drank was a little tiny glass of communion wine from church.

My grandma just had a mini stroke this morning and might have had another one. I'm really scared. I'm scared of losing her and I'm only 13. She's been getting sick the past few months and almost completely gave up. One time I visited her and she started talking to me about how she loves me and my brothers and she doesn't know how much longer she can take it. She's only 72. I'm so scared

Itz ARTZY yes I know. Death is a terrifying thing to me especially when it's someone I'm so close to. My grandparents live in an apartment downstairs in our house so I see her almost every day. I'm so young and I've thank God never experienced the death of a loved one and it terrifies me. I guess I would understand that bc she's older, she's had more experiences and an overall full life while someone who dies before age 20 didn't get to do much in their life and it's sad I know. I thank God everyday that my family is close and healthy and alive.

10 months after ,the Stroke. , A week after I was walking without walker , cane . My 20yr old daughter takes care of things . Confusion. Memory still to be worked on . I'm 57 with a history of migraine . I take BP meds , to keep headaches away and doing good so far . No therapy though. How did I get here ? When I move into house will do therapy of some sort . Getting used to this is what depresses me but other than that " I Love you Lord for being by my side ."

I suffered a mild stroke myself but that's God l still here my left side is still weak after two years.
