    You have 60 ft of cable still in the cage. Unhook the first section and it will work. It will wear out the Jaws if you keep doing this to it.

      Some people shouldn't do mechanical and plumbing jobs. He should just hire a plumber. He's ruining the clutch on that machine by trying to spin the entire spool of cable that's still in the carrying cage. 😁😁

    Dude first thing you cant use a machine like this for cutting roots this is fir 1 1/2 to 2 inch nothing more. You need a large machine with 7/8 or 1 inch cable. K-50 or k-1500 only

  • @ruthven78

    Chock this up to user error. Youre feeding it backwards and when used as a sectional without the drum you have to have each sectional free. It wont pull it off the reel

    Did you get a refund on it, or was it too late? I was about to purchase the model below this one. It isn't cheap to have that kind of a problem right away.

    We have the Ridgid K-50. Great machines, but they a sink or internal drain machine & are not designed for any serious root cleaning. Sounds like you may have worn out the jaws or damaged the drive mechanism.

    • @passion830217
      @passion830217 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You are right that this machine is not designed for root. A heavier-duty machine should be used for that purpose.

    Did you ever get it resolved? Were there any tree roots, or gunk on the line holding it up?

    How much do they cost? Can you clear sewer lines with it? Is it as durable as the Ridgid product?

      Could the teeth be sheared off the main gear? The gear looks like it's made out of nylon instead of metal.

    • @joshforcha668
      @joshforcha668 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bruce Hashbarger buy a pair of ridgid k50 jaws and put it in there you will never have an issue

    • @brucehashbarger4956
      @brucehashbarger4956 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Josh, do you use the auto feed? I've read that it can damage the jaws.

    • @joshforcha668
      @joshforcha668 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bruce Hashbarger you can get a tail for the machine which its made to use so the jaws wont wear out as fast and it makes less of a mess when you’re in a house

    I had this same noise going off in mine. The drive gear is connected to the motor with a plastic gear. You've (and I've) basically stripped out a section of the teeth on the plastic gear. If you take the two bolts on the middle of the machine you can see exactly what I'm talking about.

    • @peterford9369
      @peterford9369 ปีที่แล้ว

      So are you able to replace the gear? It strange because Ridgid makes or made, the k60 machine that is a direct match of the vevor. It costs around a a grand plus new. Something has to be wrong if instead of a metal gear they use plastic. That's insane. Except maybe it's to protect the motor from freezing up when a clog is really stuck.
      The reason I'm curious is, I just ordered one of these on sale for same price as those machine gun shaped jobs. Thought this is more versatile. So, were you able to repair yours? Thanks

    • @adammccoy1062
      @adammccoy1062 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@peterford9369 I did end up replacing the gear. I reached out to Vevor and they sent a replacement. It was a bit of a pain in the ass because I'm pretty sure the gear is originally heat fitted, but I eventually did the machine working again. I don't have much faith in it holding up to the worst of blocks, but I think it will at least handle basic maintenance for a few years. You're correct that vevor is basically selling a branded version of a fairly generic model and you can purchase similar machines from other brands names. I wouldn't expect any of them to be over 250 dollars though, so I expect that Rigid might be a different model or a total rip off..

    • @peterford9369
      @peterford9369 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adammccoy1062 Thanks, I've bought a couple of vevor tools, basically a generic line. So I expect no matter which one you get,the part's are either sub par, being plastic or nylon, where maybe steel in the Ridgid k50, which looks identical, sounds identical but lasts longer somehow. And yes, the Ridgid k50 new runs over a thousand bucks. Insane. Man it's no wonder harbor freight and other generic knockoffs sell. Our manufacturers are out of touch with reality with prices.
      I don't know how the Ridgid set-up is,in it's transmission gear. But I saw a Ridgid k50 used obviously on eBay for 440 bucks. Just the machine. No cable nothing. Thanks again for responding. I was very skeptical about buying this machine. But as long as they'll honor giving out parts like that, and I can fix it myself, should it break, it's worth it. What u told me sounds exactly what I kinda thought may have happened. But I would have never guessed a plastic or nylon drive gear. I bought a vevor jackhammer. And all it's gears are steel. Oh well. Thanks again 👍
