    I am wondering on the use of the Canvass Pliers. The protruding head must be used downwards. But to look at the depth of the wood frame it may touch the center canvass cloth. Maybe that is why it is used updside down. The protruding head of the pliers is designed to act like the stopper on the wood when the canvass cloth is being stretched.

    Hi Steve, great video. Just bought some stretcher pliers from your ebay store so look forward to receiving them soon and wrapping my own canvas's.

    You don't need canvas pliers or a hammer/mallet. I make these all day long at work and you can hand stretch these and they'll come out perfect. There's also a much easier way to do your corners!.

    Do they always cut the edges off of the canvas print? I would think if one ever wanted to remove the canvas the image would therefore be ruined.

      It has to be done but you will probably never want to remove the canvas print from the stretcher bars anyway.

      +Fotoviva Art Prints you dont have to i never do just pull it tight. i also noticed he stapled across the mitre join avoid this as it stops the stretch properly .

      It doesn't have to be done. If I had done this as a framer, I'd have been fired. Just stretch it tightly and staple it down. No reason to destroy the art. Especially if it's of any value. If for some reason you do have to stretch it again, you'll have to put it on a smaller frame if it's been cut.

    Do you use stainless steel staples? Are they the size that fits an Arrow T-50 staple gun? Thanks for your answers. Ty

    Is canvas pliers really necessary? (I'm broke)

  • @stacywestly64
    @stacywestly64 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So...why didn't you use the correct size stretchers? You lost at least 1 inch on the horizontal and about 2 inches on the vertical. This mistake made the whole process difficult to watch.

    • @angelaspaintings
      @angelaspaintings 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's thin canvas. Obviously, I didn't make the video, but I am an artist and have stretched canvas before. There is no way paper would do that.
