Loved going to the zoo as a kid & still do. But even better was a McDonalds meal since I lived in the country (Kleinburg.) Got a laugh out of the kids saying how delicious the burgers were as an adult, The only McD's food I eat now are the fries & the occasional egg & sausage McMuffin's every now & then.
Everyone's relaxed and friendly there in this clip eating..there no iPhones no social media to post the experience lets just enjoy the food and animals even the portions were much smaller back then
I remember when me and my mother first went to the Toronto Zoologist, for the first time in September of 1981.Not only Zoo is amazing, We were surprise the zoo had an Mc Donald's restaurant and it was unusual well known fast food at the zoo
I remember going downhill to the canada exhibit I think and it had a old monorail track which I really wanted to work because that hike up the hill sucked big time.
andgalactus1 no word of a lie me and a buddy were snowmobiling on the Big Rouge back when the Rouge River actually froze, anyhoo we kept going along towards Lake Ontario and all of a sudden we look up and people on the monorail are looking at us....we rode right into Metro Zoo property...we looked back and there was a big chain link fence on each side of the river but i guess they weren't allowed to cover the river in anyway....it was ok we weren't in any harm but we turned around and got out of there.
+Paul White I dunno about straws, but I remember when I went years ago, I had some Monopoly pieces that were winners for free stuff, and they wouldn't take them. :(
As I recall, they were the only McDonald's allowed to sell hot dogs at one time. Yay! Also, is it just me, or does the narrator sound an awful lot like the bearded worker they interview who's gushing about the place in his Toronto 70s accent?

how's that overhead monorail coming guys?
+andgalactus1 Well, why have a monorail when you can eat McDonald's with millions of fly's buzzing around your head.

Ahhh, it was more of a Shelbyville kind of thing
@@jamiee1519hello from 2024!
now there's mcdonalds at walmart. #progress
Anyone remember when there was a Harveys inside and at the base of the CN Tower in the 90s?
wow - i was there several times mid- to late- 70's and into the 80's. I remember....
That voiceover is George Cohon, then the CEO.
I wish they still had McDonalds at the Zoo. It's better (ok, only slightly better) than the crap they serve now.
My friend was attacked by a baboon during class trip in '76 I hope your scar tissue dosent hurt too much Steve from Brampton
Toronto was very multicultural even in the mid 70's.
I actually ate there at that McDoalds in the zoo in the late 70s....had to eat , but, I think the animals were fed better food!!
You telling me I live 5 minutes from where the biggest mcdonalds on earth used to be
I seem to remember the McDonalds at the zoo not giving out straws because they could be harmful to the animals. Am I right about that?
+Paul White I dunno about straws, but I remember when I went years ago, I had some Monopoly pieces that were winners for free stuff, and they wouldn't take them. :(
+sixtopian Found this on the zoo's web site:
The following is prohibited:
Straws, balloons (any type), confetti, rice, whistles, bells, radios......
+sixtopian Must be a separate franchise that does't comply with giveaway/sweepstakes offerings.
You're correct. That ban was in place by the time I first visited the Zoo in the mid-1980's
You are correct, sir!
I remember no straws also...cause my mom would bring them in her purse. 😈

This McDonald’s was decent. The crappy food they have at the zoo now should really be fed to the animals. It’s that bad.
