I'm 18, fresh out of highschool, born and raised in Chicago and I'm looking so forward to moving out of the city, I just hate how overpopulated, loud, violent and expensive the city is, I want to live in a place where I can have my own privacy and space away from people, literally i can go out of my house right now and touch my neighbors house while keeping my other hand on mine, I'm researching this area and I might actually move here.
If you can, can you answer some questions for me? 1. In residential areas how much space is between houses and can I get an estimate on how much land a house would typically have? 2. Does this town have a presence of gangs? 3. Is this town diverse or is it dominant white?
New Buffalo is a definitely a nice place to be if you are looking to get out of the city while not being terribly far from the Chicago area. Thanks for watching!
@@johnnyrobles7872 Unfortunately I do not live in the area, but I'll pin your comment so that people from the area will be able to respond. I will say that I felt perfectly safe walking around the city with my full camera gear.
It's a nice, small city! That food was quite good too! The next freeway video will be out in a couple weeks although the next driving video has a freeway in it!
Those who want to hit up the beach in New Buffalo can also catch Amtrak from areas off to the East such as Lansing, Kzoo & Battle Creek. The station in New Buffalo is right up the street from the beach shown in this video and you can get off the train in the morning, spend a couple hours at the beach, walk back downtown New Buffalo for lunch and you'd have plenty of time to catch the train on its return trip from Chicago.
Nice video…. I’ve stopped in New Buffalo a couple years ago…. The beach is nice and there are some beautiful homes along the waterfront…. I wished I had known about the Railroad museum though….. That looked very interesting…. Thanks for sharing….
That's awesome! I had no idea about the railroad museum either until just a few days before I went to film this video. Unfortunately it is only open seasonally, but it is cool to check it out when it is open. Thanks for watching!
Dear Scott, lovely video. I really like your videos -- just a tip from one video enthusiast to another: If your pans (left/right) would go a little slower, people would be able to see more and it would immediately look more professional and harmonic. Keep up the good work!!
Thank you, and thank you for the advice! I've watched back some videos from this past year, and I've noticed that too. I need to work on moving it a little slower. Thanks for watching!
When it comes to restaurants you missed Rosie's, Skip's Other Place and the famous Redamaks....were you can "bite into a legend". There are more but these 3 have been in New Buffalo since before I moved there in the 1970's. The newer places are good as well......but what about Oink's ? Do some more research next time.
Yes I was hoping to see if the platform might be near a hotel. Looking for a way to get to Chicago Union Station without driving into Chicago. And maybe spend a night on the return trip.

This is on the Amtrak route.
Yep! I didn't see the Amtrak train though when I was there. I don't think it goes through there during the middle of the afternoon to my knowledge.
