A24 bought the movie at Sundance, the movie was independently made by the directors Danny and Michael Philippou. The movie is set in Australia. They have a TH-cam channel called rackaracka, they’ve been making crazy content for about a decade if not longer now. This movie is a long time coming
oh that is SO awesome for the creators/directors!! for it to be such a hit like this internationally is hugeee.. imagine a full on movie production company like A24 asking to buy your creation 🥹🥹
Riley was going to be ok. Duckett told them they will leave eventually that’s why he got better. & I think when Mia “mom” said “we’ll take care of him” or something like that, I feel it snapped her out of it, that’s why she jumped versus pushing Riley. Man I love this movie.

I don't think Mia did jump...I think Riley's sister pushed her, you can see her run up behind Mia - obviously the sister thought she was dangerous and was trying to protect her brother, she wouldn't have been able to see that Mia actually let go/changed her mind etc.
@@sheepcushionpringle. I saw that too but if she pushed her from behind she would’ve pushed Riley too right? I don’t see how see pushes Mia and Mia falling into traffic without Riley falling too. We don’t actually see it so both are definitely possibilities lol

17:42 yep that’s the point. It’s meant to mirror drugs. The message is, us as the viewer are watching these kids make the stupidest choices even though they know and can see what it does to their friends. And how addicting it is and how it takes over their lives. And we as viewers think “They are so stupid! You see what it did to your friend!” And we judge them. But somehow we (as humans) haven’t managed to see that clearly when it comes to hard drugs.
There's also the aspect that she, being socially isolated, ignored, craving connection, only has two things that give her any real connection at all: Riley and the drug/hand. Explains why she's so willing to let him do it, and how she so easily falls down this rabbit hole of bad decisions - a descent that keeps compromising her decision making more and more. It's a big aspect of drugs, that they're a trap that catches people that don't have anyone/anything.

It was well represented throughout the movie just how you and (Jamie above) say - I feel the prequel will have those same undertones, but of course with different characters/storylines/locations, and hopefully it shows the origin… so I’m looking forward to see how they navigate that film 🙂
I love the Scream franchise! I have seen them, do you think enough people would still wanna see me watch even though it’s not the first time? I would totally upload if yes! 😊
agreed! A24 has been rolling out smash hits lately for sure, they’re getting up there with Blumhouse - would you wanna see me watch Midsommar if it was the second time? Always value in a rewatch because you can’t take it ALL in in the first 1-2 watches I feel 🙂
