The core essence of this lecture is to love selflessly which is really really true. If love is there i think no namaz, puja etc..are to do anything with this wonderful creation

What a fantastic talk! As a kid I had always found Alice in Wonderland to be absurd and today Prof Dr Arindam C has connected it to Yoga Vasishtha! The entire talk is simply so succinctly connected with both the Eastern and Western poets, scientists, writers, authors, philosophers - A standing ovation from my side. Gratitude! 🙏🏼

"there is only one boat, one ferry, which takes us across this ocean of suffering we call our life/ one ferry, one boat: and that is love, and that is love, and that is love" - Swami Vivekananda (1:16:50). . . "in this world, if you are thinking about utility maximization, and productivity, you are not loving" - Vivekananada (1:00:24). . . "only one thing is fearless: loving without any reason" (1:15:36). . . "so let your self be destroyed, and let your entire heart become a cremation ground, and the Divine Mother Shama, let her dance there" - Swami Vivekananada (1:23:33)

    1. DREAM - There can be criteria to determine what is real and what is dream but you can never deny the possibility that the current state is a dream. If you don't like this dream, kill it with another dream.
    2. REALITY - This world, dream or otherwise, is i) undeniable and ii) illogical.
    3. LOVE - What is the most intelligent way of living in a world that is illogical and undeniable at once? - i) live fearlessly, ii) let your beloved world be free and that sets you free of the world while being in the world, and iii) live without any expectation from the beloved world as any lover should of his/her beloved.

I love this talk so much I listen to it again and again. Thank you Swami Sarvapriyanandji for arranging this event / lecture and to Vedanta society of New York for sharing it on you tube. It's a treat to everyone who listens and is interested in spirituality and philosophy. Pranams.

nevertheless, even though we are in a dream (as Swami quotes another Swamiji's words) never forget to pay respect to your teachers 🙂🙂🙂 and thank them for trying to in-lighten us 🙂🙂

Once Swami Vivekananda was asked to talk about the love between Krishna and the Gopikas. He declined to talk about it saying people whose minds have traces of lust will never understand this type of love. They think love equates to a physical attraction. The relationship between Krishna and Gopikas was very, very different than what is ordinarily depicted.

    • @lotusseed355
      @lotusseed355 ปีที่แล้ว

I totally agree - but people understand to the level of their consciousness, culture and experience... Love of Gopikas to Krishna is the highest bhakti, and it brings that love to Earth as a fractal of divine love to be present among people, not to get completely lost in the maya. (one aspect of that love)

Beautiful....speechless but want to say something. I have listened a lot of lecture about vedanta, non dualism etc etc. Sometime it seems spirituality is very easy to understand. Sometime I doubt have i understood a llittle bit....!!!
ঠিক এরকমই অবস্থা হয় আমার spirituality এর বিষয়ে,বিশেষ করে কেউ যখন "WHAT IS TIME?"
May be time causality er
Anyway really really love listening swami Swarboprionanda.Today got the opportuanity to listen two more renowned persons.Dhnyobad

Prof. Chakrabarti, could you please include the quotes of the books where you find that Swamiji Vivekananda was fond of marxism. I am very interested because I didn't find that statement in his Complete Works. When Swamiji predicted the government of workers he didn't say that it was going to be better. That was just a prediction like his others predictions of the first world war and the liberation of India.

    51:00 BEAUTIFULLLLLLLL ARGUMENTS

43:00 on the topic of cause-and-effect and logically explaining causality, I am unable to understand why logic isn't considering "transformation" as a cause of the effect. In the David example the "cause" was attributed to the "marble" and "effect" to "David". Why (or Why not) did we not consider the "Process of Sculpting" as the cause and "David" as the effect, and the physical entity (the marble) remained consistent without a change. Same thing with the yogurt : the cause could be the "Process of fermentation" and the effect is the yogurt.
May be I misunderstand / unaware of some other aspects, can someone kindly elaborate (or point to some good references) regarding this ?

We are not considering the 'Process' as cause because specifically without marble or milk there will be no chance of becoming David or yogurt, so if the 'Process' is the cause then anything can be processed to become anything! This is illogical.

      @@ghoshingmer that’s a nice argument!
But I was more viewing from the perspective of Action and Result, analogous to Cause and Effect in my question . For example, when we talk about Karma , we consider a Process of doing something as the cause and it’s results as the effect.

@@pinaki2999 in this case "process of fermentaion " becomes the effect of the cause "milk" which can not come without the milk. Basically you introduced an intermediate effect pretty much.
