Don't know for sure, do you have all the cables in place? Does the mid console work? If you open the door do you get an image of that on screen? If not, not all cables are installed
Watch my other video's if you want to see how I take it apart. The connection is made with an USB into the usb from the android radio. And you're right I don't understand much, but at least I make a video about it 👍

How works the Radiopanel Light?
Just like normal, if you have the right cables, it will light up!
Remove the metallic with bubbles bathroom cleaner and or vinegar and dish soap.

A have got same car but my 2 control knobs are not illuminating can you advise if this is just a blown bulb ?

How have you managed to keep the lights and buttons working on the old radio panel buttons. After fitting the android radio.
That's where the large orange cable comes in.
Don't remember what its called but ask the vendor for this cable
