I keep coming back to this video. so restful! When I dance Childgrove I always wish I was dancing in such a beautiful setting. One of my favourite English dances.
By the way, this lovely dance also appears in the film "Northanger Abbey" - one of the books by Jane Austen :-) Catherine meets and dances with Mr. Tilney at a ball in Bath.
if you can send me a contact in a private message, I can send you the references... I really like what you are doing, but Sharp was more concerned with making dances usable than preserving Playford....

Northanger Abbey actually brought me here. :D
Reason why I am here, I would give my left lung to dance with Tilney to this! xD
2024 and the dialogue between Catherine and Mr. Tilney brought me here as well - I am so in love!

That’s quite a bit faster than we used to play it.
@Brigancia
It's "Childgrove" from Playford's "The English Dancing Master".
I love this song. Where can I find a recording?
great...beautiful music...can you tell me the name of this song, please?
Childgrove
These are the 1922 Cecil Sharp reconstruction steps, not the Playford....
Hi, can you point me to the original Playford's steps?
Poles were at the english court...................
