Soft as the voice of an angel Breathing a lesson unheard Hope with a gentle persuasion Whispers her comforting word Wait 'til the darkness is over Wait 'til the tempest is done Hope for the sunshine tomorrow After the darkness is gone Whispering hope (whispering hope, whispering hope) Oh, how welcome Thy voice (welcome Thy voice, oh, how welcome Thy voice) Making my heart (making my heart, making my heart) In its sorrow rejoice (in its sorrow rejoice) If in the dusk of the twilight Dim be the region afar Will not the deepening darkness Brighten the glimmering star Then when the night is upon us (ooh) Why should the heart sink away? When the dark midnight is over Watch for the breaking of day Whispering hope (whispering hope, whispering hope) Oh, how welcome Thy voice (welcome Thy voice, oh, how welcome Thy voice) Making my heart (making my heart, making my heart) In its sorrow rejoice (in its sorrow rejoice)
I love this old hymn, too--on Precious Memories I wrote how my dad's family when he was growing up would compete with these 2 songs---dirt poor family, but they had love, faith and laughter!!! They knew Jesus--during the depression in the '30's and all the kids did well and thier kids, too!!
I appreciate that the Statler Brothers always looked sharp. Their harmony was beautiful and their respect of the hymns was clear when they sang reverently, had a congenial demeanor and dressed appropriately.

I am now 78 and used to love this song when I was a child, long before I was Saved. Just yesterday, 28 May 2024, it came to mind and I can't hear it enough. ❤
The Statler brothers is one of my favorite groups. However that said, I do not care much for this rendition of "Whispering Hope." Much too fast for a very reverent song. (Just my opinion.)

I could listen to Harold all day
Soft as the voice of an angel
Breathing a lesson unheard
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word
Wait 'til the darkness is over
Wait 'til the tempest is done
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow
After the darkness is gone
Whispering hope (whispering hope, whispering hope)
Oh, how welcome Thy voice (welcome Thy voice, oh, how welcome Thy voice)
Making my heart (making my heart, making my heart)
In its sorrow rejoice (in its sorrow rejoice)
If in the dusk of the twilight
Dim be the region afar
Will not the deepening darkness
Brighten the glimmering star
Then when the night is upon us (ooh)
Why should the heart sink away?
When the dark midnight is over
Watch for the breaking of day
Whispering hope (whispering hope, whispering hope)
Oh, how welcome Thy voice (welcome Thy voice, oh, how welcome Thy voice)
Making my heart (making my heart, making my heart)

These are The Statlers, not the The Statler Brothers. They changed their name when Jimmy joined the group. If you were a real fan, you'd know this.

Beautiful version of one of my favorite songs.
I've just discovered this beautiful song through the Hank Snow version. I'm going through all the different versions now. This is one of the best

pracht song; gelukkig nu iets vlotter gebracht.
Beautiful harmony. Too bad the orchestra drowned out their voices. I hope there are other recordings of this song by the Statler Brothers.
These are The Statlers, not the Statler Brothers, when Jimmy Fortune joined the group they changed their name.
What's the deal with all these videos starting before the recording? If you can't post the whole performance why bother?
you fools they are all alive. no one is dead.
