My brother is an FDA liaison for medical device start ups. Twenty years ago he worked at one called Intacks (Cornial ring implants). The tech is great. It fixed folks vision, and the surgery was simple. The company lost out to laser eye surgery (since both the cost and barrier to entry was low). The tech is still superior because the rings and be changed vs. laser surgery in which you only have one pass, and it does have issues. Intacks is still around, but it's mostly used once folks go in for Glaucoma surgery (or fighter pilots - yes they are Air Forced approved).

I just wanted a smart contact that could change my eye color on a whim and look realistic, I don't need to know everyone's information.

This is cool but from where this lens will get the power to operate?

After having cataract surgery following a detached retina, I found that while my vision is sharp each eye sees a different size image. I would be interested if I could fine-tune the size of the image so that each Eye would see the same size image. Perhaps a different use of this tech.

VR with contact lenses would be insane

Price point could be an issue as contacts can rip quite easily so if you're having to replace them it could get costly. I like the idea, but it'll be interesting how it integrates into our lives. I think the glasses will initially be a bigger hit and then the lenses will start taking over down the line.

The need for replacement might be an issue. If they are ever meant to come with truly high resolution and quality, they could be quite costly and high-tech. I don't quite see it as great to have to buy such technology as often. Perhaps the company would let you subscribe to a few years plan for which you could get few new pairs every month and it being the newer models each time. Also it being disposable electronics could be very bad for environment. But perhaps good for greedy companies. We used to complain that our phones are costly to repair and can not be dismantled for parts and upgraded and instead having to buy new phone every few years. With disposable contact lens we would throw out high tech every one a while. I would hope they would at least collect the old products for recycling when you get new one.
On the other hand I find smart contact lenses as way more practical then smart glasses since I simply don't find glasses a practical thing if you don't need them for reading. Also I think that for smart contact lenses should be combined with a kind of invisible micro earphones. I mean normal earbuds or big headphones would still be better for music and good quality sound but those tiny microearbuds could be placed in ear for long time without it being uncomfortable and blocking normal hearing.

It’s all fun and games until someone hacks your contact lens and someone gets to see literally everything you see

Oh man that was so weird, I fell asleep and had a horrible dream, then I woke up and took off my contact lenses. Damn programmers.

I love the idea. It would be nice to have a regular check up of how your eyes are doing that goes along with the purchase. And maybe a possible device that a person can purchase that can read out your eyes. If at all possible.

Pair these AR contacts with a 100x Zoom Galaxy S22 and OnePlus' cam filter that lets you see through certain objects, BOOM!!! You have a man made Byakugan.

I would be curious. I wonder how it would handle stigmatisms in the eye. Or if the contact lens would be better with thicker lenses

So everyone is now kinda jumping on the Metaverse hype. I am really curious how the technology behind this actually works.
