I hope you enjoyed this street photography video in Saigon Ho Chi Minh.
Not “just a youtuber”. One of the best street photographers anywhere!!!
You inspire me.
After 45 years in photography, it takes a lot to get inspired.
You are a true artist.
Incredible video. Very immersive. It’s a crime the viewer count isn’t 10-fold. Thank you 👍
Thanks kind of you Gary! Much appreciated!
One of my favorite youtube-photographer in my country, just wow!
Well done Frederik.
Beautiful photography & story documentary as usual and the video clips - well they are just superb. That’s top class artwork for sure.
All the best,
Your photography since you came back is fantastic.....it's great to have you back, Frederik.
you are capturing the life of the city
Super compelling photowork, Frederik, and the storytelling really hits! I can't believe I haven't visited yet. Soon!
Impressive work Frederik, you continue to grow in your photography and continue to do so with such respect for the culture you photograph it's highly commendable. Vietnam is one of my bucket list places to photograph, my mother in law is from Saigon and I would absolutely love to visit some day.
this was excellent! I live near Saigon but haven't really done much photography since I got here. Thanks for the motivation!
Great video. It’s amazing how VN has built up after many years. Since being there in the 60’s, I’m always interested in VN. I hope you do more of these videos from VN.
Really enjoyed this one and loved the images. 10 scooters each! that's a lot of scooters 😂
Great to see you back on TH-cam mate🖖
Hah I appreciate mate.
Hey mate! I loved HO Chi Minh for street photography too. I filmed a lot in that city, I agree, the street photography in Vietnam is so good! So many colours & textures...❤
My favourite photographer! Clicked double quick when I got a notification you had a new video up! 🎉🎉
Thank you!
Tack again Frederik for an inspiring video... So interesting to see you testing out video also. And yeah, I feel you about the difference between Thailand and Vietnam. I personally think it's the strong attitude and character of the people in Vietnam, which make for more dramatic and natural results.
Thanks for sharing Fred. I loved shooting street in Saigon too. Felt so busy and vibrant. Shot some of my favourite film images there. One of my favourite cities for street photography.
Totally Agree!
Thank you for this slice of Ho Chi Min City! It's wonderful.
OMG finally you come Vietnam, hope to see you in Hanoi, im a street photographer too ,
can i meet you if you come Hanoi, that's Great for me plsss
Very realistic footage, even the more hidden shots are very caressing. Well done.
Frederik, what I really engrossing flow through the alleys and streets of Ho Chi Minh, and especially enjoyed the sounds of life. Thanks for putting this together.
hi, I'm Vietnamese , your video is so amazing. It's my city :), and your photo so so perfect, I love b&w photo too.Hope to see you again in HCMC :)
Amazing. You capture so many feelings for me, a presence of being in a place.
Thank you!
Glad you’re back. Love your videos!
Thank you Ryan!
It was really interesting to follow you around Ho Chi Minh City as he explored the streets and alleys for photo opportunities. I could really get a sense of the vibrant energy of the city through your footage. I liked seeing the various street scenes, food stalls, and portraits he captured. It seems like a great place for urban street photography with so many interesting subjects. Your passion for photography in new locations came through. It makes me want to visit Vietnam and try my hand at some street photography in Ho Chi Minh City too!
that's amazing video!
~from Vietnam with love~
Not many photographers take pictures of alleys like you. Alleys accurately reflect the lives of Vietnamese people. Wishing you many beautiful photos in Vietnam.
I'm not at all surprised that your muscle memory for taking good photos was like getting back on a bike after not doing much riding for a while. Loved the sea of helmets shot. It's easy to overlook the video and music tying the static shot together. The shot where nothing was moving through the frame except the smoke from the cigarettes was very nice. 👍
I’ve been following you for a while now because I love your street photography and I also learned a lot from it. It such a surprise to see you in Vietnam taking great photos as always, the things that I see every day and I never thought I would capture it but with your fresh eyes you can see much more interesting moments than me! Thank you for visiting and looking forward for more videos from you!
Superb video Frederik. Amazing 👏
Awesome video and photos❤... your BW photos... looks so cool... are you using a receipe ... acros or monochrome ? It looks like Ilford
We live in Saigon since 3 years and I can easily understand why you are falling in love with this country and this city...
Adding b&w video was a great addition! Great video! Being picky: the music was a bit distracting or maybe a different type?
Great to see you back Frederik
🤝🏼👊🏼
The Vietnamese guy warned you be careful with your camera is very good advised , even with expensive iPhone try not to used it on side street as bad peoples on the bike can grab them and runs …. The risk with tourist are actually less for tourist than Vietnamese themselves because they are more friendly and welcome foreigners and treat them better than theirs own . I’m Vietnamese and I knows
Excellent video! I love your images!
Thank you Cindy!
Great street photography and video. Really enjoyed it looking forward to the next one.
lifeblood right here
Great Video Frederik! I really enjoy your videos. I also love to use Fuji, although I have started to add Leica to my gear list. Are you based in Vietnam now or just visiting? Keep up the awesome work.
I'm in HCM City now and I would love to be taking more photographs, everything is eye-catching!! But the heat and humidity make it very difficult 😂
Awesome job Frederik!
Thank you!
Grate stuff, very personal, special and immersive💗
Why does Saigon look so nostalgic and intriguing when you photograph it. lol
100% agree on Ho Chi Minh
Great stuff. Really enjoyed it! Keep 'em comin'!
Visited hcmc 4 yrs ago, loved it. Except for difficulty to walk around, sidewalks full of motorbikes and dangerous.
Thanks Frederik for sharing this video
Great video and very nice pictures. Congrats!
love your videos brother! glad to see your back!!
Ty!
my favorite place in the entire world
Excellent photos, excellent video, beautiful 😍
Glad you came to Vietnam, try to come to Hanoi next time, maybe 😊
My favorite country for street photography.
Great work and so pleasant to watch
Wow, great captures! How long have you been there? I have to get caught up on your other videos.
Thank you! I was just there for a few days. But need to get back. Beautiful city and amazing food!
@@FTrovatten sounds great! I look forward to your next videos and captures.
Nice video. IMO taking a great still takes much more skill. You evidently have that. HCMC is very photogenic. The bloke said take care of your camera because snatch theft is a bit of an issue. It can happen anywhere but, it's highly unlikely you'll get mugged. Apart from some places in District 4 at night, I've never felt threatened here. let me know when you're back. :)
Lækker video, Frederik - er enig med dig, HCMC er en fantastisk kameraby 📷
Tak!
Loved the vlog and the shots ❤
So cool - Vietnam is on my bucket list.
You won’t be disappointed!
@@FTrovatten As long as he don’t get overhyped by TH-cam videos about Vietnam. At least don’t imagine Vietnam as some Disneyland, even though Vietnam have it’s beauty.
Really nice work in this one.
I got the XH2s myself recently too. Great camera. It produces wonderful footage and the files have so much flexibility for grading. I just wish the autofocus was a little better for video work.
Your videos and pictures here look wonderful. How are you finding taking photos with the XH2s compared to the XT series? Also, you're probably already aware of this, but there's a menu setting named "Auto Power Off Temp". It's set on "standard" by default, but if you change it to "high" it allows you to film for longer before the camera will overheat.
Velkommen tilbage min ven
I liked Saigon but loved Hanoi. In HCM it was interesting to see a Rolls Royce dealer a stones throw away from a statue of Uncle Ho.
Lovely shots mate
Really coool. I love your BNW images of people. Are you use Acros or a tweaked version of it?
Nice stories! Great video
really great, thank you so much
Love it Frederik 👍
Excellent work
Friendlier name is Saigon 😅, damn, thanks for inspiring me to get out and take more photos of my home city.
Oh really? I thought it was either Saigon or HCM and both were fine :)
@@FTrovatten they are fine, we use HCM in official documents and Saigon in daily convos.
Really tough question. I love the way you see the world and am thankful you share that with us, so video in that visual storytelling direction... wants to be a yes. But. You're so good with permission, respecting the nod or having conversations. That just isn't always possible or practical with video. The detail shots, could be anyone and astounding at telling the story, definite yes please. When I watch some of the identifiable faces in video, when there's no eye contact acknowledgement, would they be ok with it? I can't know, and I'm not sure I can be comfortable with it without knowing. Anyway, just one person's thoughts, respect for both what you do and how you choose to do it
Hi. Can i ask where did you took the video at 8:35? Is it a top floor of an apartment? Do you remember the apartment name? Thank you
Very cool.
The GOAT
You are comparing Ho Chi Min to Thailand which leaves me wondering, have you seen much of Thailand or have you been busy in the Muay Thai camp?
I need to see more, for sure. But even in Bangkok was less my style of photography than Ho Chi Minh. Everything just came more naturally there.
Really need to work on improving compositions. Making images black and white doesn’t necessarily make it artful.
