    Hello and thank you for uploading this informative video. I am looking into using Liquid Rubber on a 5,000 sq ft. plywood patio deck. We fixed the plywood on multiple 2x6x12 wood boards with screws every 4 inches. There is a significant amount of screws. I noticed in your video that you only filled the plywood seams and not the dents from the screws. As such, is it not required to use wood filler nor the Geo-Textile on the plywood dents made from the screws? I would greatly appreciate your response. Thank you!

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Any imperfections such as screw holes, knots and splits should be prefilled with a water-based wood filler and for plywood decks we recommend reinforcing the seams with our Geo-Textile Fabric. Most coatings fail due to the fact that these areas, if left un-repaired, can allow water to get in and potentially blister the coating. The first step in any coating process is to repair the surface. Please feel free to reach out to Technical Support if you'd like to walk through your project. is there any way to apply it so you dont see the seams and the geo-textile? because the edges dont look that nice.

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, it's pretty tough to hide the seams entirely as it's important to bridge the seams with Liquid Rubber Geo-Textile. It's similar to a vinyl sheet deck application that has seams as well.

    • @cm-ex8nb
      @cm-ex8nb 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LiquidrubberCa yeah but with vinyl you can router the plywood where the seams land so they sit flush. I just wonder if there would be a way maybe build up the liquid rubber so it's not there. What about using the seam filler on the edges to make it flat?

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@cm-ex8nb It's tough to build up that much coating. It would be best to router, sand the wood down creating a little valley along the seams to reduce the height.

    • @DadYouNeverHad
      @DadYouNeverHad 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't want to see those seams, you have to countersink the flashing by routing/planing the edges by the thickness of the flashing, and then using an unbroken sheet of geo textile cloth across the entire deck.

    • @DrGreen-wl2ry
      @DrGreen-wl2ry 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      What I did was for your first coat (or 2 depending) you only apply to the wood and not over the geo-tex or flashing. This allows a height build up to help hide it. Worked out very well for me.

    I’ve got this on an existing deck already. But it’s bubbling and peeking in a low spot where water sits. Can I put salt leveling concrete on top and then re-coat the concrete?

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, we haven't tested this between coats. Assuming it is a wood deck...The best way to level a deck is by repairing the framework itself. If that cannot be done, then you can use an exterior rated self levelling compound directly to the deck (wood or concrete) itself. I would recommend speaking with the levelling compound manufacturer to ensure it will bond well to our acrylic/polyurethane formulation (a bonding agent may be recommended). The risk is the levelling compound is not bonded to our coating and ends up floating between layers (eventually penetrating via movement of a sharp edge). Also, when reapplying our Polyurethane over top of the levelling compound, they should reapply at full coverage rate. Applying too thin may again result in blistering. (and make sure the levelling compound is fully cured prior to application.) Please reach out to us with any questions. 1-855-592-1049 or Support@ShopLiquidRubber.com

    is the shown "liquid rubber" plasticizer-resistant (e. g. no migration of carbon black from car tires / no permanent or irremovable yellowish markings like on PVC caused by multiple normal drive over)? How smooth it can be made (uneven surface causes trapping of contamination/dirt between the coating "hills" and time consuming cleaning)?

    Expansion space is filled with wood filler?! Every plywood/OSB manufacture requirement is 1/8" expansion joints. I cannot risk not following the plywood manufacturers guidelines. Had liquid rubber researched this before making this video? What is the alternative? I saw other instructions elsewhere where only voids were filled, not expansion joints. Please clarify!

      Please explain how t&g plywood works ? 😂😂

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, for existing plywood decks, generally voids and joints are filled with wood filler or Liquid Rubber Sealant & Adhesive. For new plywood to allow for the expansion joints, fill with Liquid Rubber Sealant & Adhesive. Perhaps it might be best to walk through your project directly with Liquid Rubber Product & Application Support so you have all the info needed. 1-855-592-1049 or Support@ShopLiquidRubber.com

      @@user-eg8hb8xt3j Hi, T&G Plywood is "Tongue and Groove". Essentially on one side of the plywood you have an extension strip that slides into a slot on another piece of plywood. It's a locking/joining system to make the joints more solid and reduce movement. If you'd like to talk it through, please call Liquid Rubber Product & Application Support at 1-855-592-1049 or Support@ShopLiquidRubber.com

    Wait.... it's supposed to be for decking but you should avoid hot, intense sunlight?

    • @LiquidrubberCa
      @LiquidrubberCa  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, sorry for the confusion. It's during application of the coating that you should avoid hot, direct intense sunlight. What can happen is the coating can cure too fast and you'll get lines in your surface. Best to work in cooler times like the morning if it gets really hot out in the middle of the day. Please let us know if you have any questions. We can walk you though your product and application as well if wanted.

      @@LiquidrubberCa Ohhhh... Thank you so much for the clarification! Building a new deck now and had a small panic attack. We get intense summer heat but just during curing makes sense. Thanks Again!

      @@stephaniedormaier1189 - We do have another deck coating option as well that you may want to consider. It's the Liquid Rubber Cool Foot Deck Coating for areas that get extremely hot. It reduces the heat transfer from the deck to your foot. The Liquid Rubber Polyurethane Deck Coating does not have the "cooling" feature but is a more robust deck coating.

    Hmm, Geo-textile, plus primer, plus liquid rubber, plus shipping, seems like we're talking about $3/sq ft which is pretty ridiculous to do by starting out with plywood instead of proper pressure treated deck planks.
