Love watching your tutorials - inspirational, funny, and minimizes my frustration with patterns. The only downfall is that i find myself skimming through the pattern instead of reading them. Although, it hasn’t let me down yet.

I bought some waterproof canvas the one you use in your video making the DieDel bug handmade bag wish one is the right side and wish one is the wrong side
The textured side is the right side
I have been SEARCHING for a tutorial on a backpack that doesnt include doing bias binding as I just really don't care for the look. I feel like I will be able to adapt this to many other tutorials. Thanks for being so thorough.

I’m so excited!!! I finally bought this pattern based off your videos of it. I’m OBSESSED with how cute your bag turned out so I’m making my first one for my son. I was debating if I should do my first one based off the actual pattern or if I should do it with your modifications. I really like your modifications but I’m super nervous bc I’m fairly new at sewing (lol idk if I can still say I’m new but I started sewing in April and literally have been sewing every single day, literally I don’t think there’s been a day where I haven’t sewed something). Hopefully my mini backpack turns out half as nice as yours did. Thankfully my son is 8, so he’s not gonna be super picky about it 😂.
You remind me of this chick that used to work for my dad. She actually mounted a rear view mirror to the right side of her machine to see my pop coming up behind her. ...lol... She was a good worker too but her seam allowances were 3/4's of an inch wide. That's too much. I groove with 3/8's of an inch for most of my allowances. I've never made bags like that before. I do mostly street rods and muscle cars. I started out building and modifying furniture. 😙

A quick question, as a newer bag sewer, I would like to try out these patterns using a bit less expensive and easier fabrics as I am learning. If you were to make these backpacks using a quilting cotton, what kind of interfacing would you need to give it the same structure as using vinyl? Would you need to go into foam for this? Or would a couple layers of a woven interfacing work?

Love the modified bag and you! Attempting my second one but having issues with the side panels dimensions. Which sides are the top and which are the sides? Not clear in Diedel bug directions and am so frustrated that things are not lining up and ripped out so many times.....arrhjghghh

When you press your waterproof canvas (using lots of steam), what's the temp setting on your iron?
When cutting out the bottom, did you cut it to original pattern size? or should it start out at the stated measurements per your video
I cut it out as a rectangle the same width but I think length 1” shorter since it’s being attached as a gusset
Did tips and bobbins stop selling diedelbugs template? I tried to look for it 😫

Is there a reason you don't add the elastic the pattern calls for in the side pockets? I see lots of makers omitting it but i couldnt figure out the reason based on anyone answers lol
The elastic doesn’t work well with vinyl. But with cotton it’s great!

I started my first mini todag and really wanted to follow the pattern for a drop in lining, but every fiber in my body yelled noooooooo, haha not doi mg drop in. Not sure why i thought i should.
Either way works! It’s just personal preference!
