    60 bucks for your meal those are tourist prices, looks like they were making up the prices as they went along. Would be interesting to know what a local would pay for the same meal you ate. The average income in PH is about $250 per month so what you paid is equal to a week's salary for most.

      Yes the place is a bit of a tourist trap for foreingers!

    Sorry for the bad karaoke in the backgroud haha. One skill you should learn when living in the Philippines is the skill to ignore the shitty environment like shitty karaoke sounds all around. Hehe

    Great video my friend, I had bad experience eating at those restaurants back there it’s on the way to my old condo in Punta Engano Amisa, honestly I tried it just like you without high hopes and few hours later I got most horrific food poisoning in my two years in the Philippines.
    Again all restaurants are different and I’m sure most are ok but only to be OK and to charge 3k per dish like expensive restaurants here it’s not my cup of tea.
    For my best on Mactan restaurant overall price and food taste I’d say it’s Maribago Grill and Restaurant and best pizza not only on Mactan but the whole Phillippines is Angel’s Pizza in Basak Mactan

      Geez, you have to be careful. Might of just been particular seafood that was off. Anyhow i think you need to experience at least once. I went to Maribago back in Sept, i was the only one there such a pity when i went previously such a good vibe.

    Sir, ink from squid or octopus is called 'ata' in Cebuano and it's pronounced with the stress at the first syllable (a) and with distinct glottal stop at the last syllable. The seaweed that you ordered was Eucheuma in English but is commonly called 'guso' in Cebuano. 'Guso' is pronounced with both stress and glottal stop in second syllable. There are three popular eucheuma species used as food and they are brown, red and green in nature. Depending on the preparation, all species of eucheuma turn brown after soaking in vinegar. Though they keep their color even after boiling in water they change their color to brown when added with vinegar.

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, it's easier to understand when you type it. When I'm just listing and trying to pronounce it's a bit more difficult. It's the first time I ate the Eucheuma and it was nice. Next time I will have to try it cooked as sutukil so I can enjoy the local way. Cheers

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FindingParadise The term sutukil as the vendor explained to you is actually a portmanteau for SU (Sugba = grillled) TU (Tuwa = clear soup stew) and KIL (Kilaw = ceviche). The only difference between the ceviche in other countries to the ceviche in Cebuano, we use vinegar in addition to kalamansi or Philippine lime to cure the raw fish or any seafood or even white meat. Most common spices added to Cebuano ceviche are white or yellow onions or shallots, leeks or green onions, tomatoes, ginger, hot chili pepper, kalamansi or Philippine lime juice. Just remove the seeds from lime fruit as it has a bitter taste. Some restaurants add coconut milk to their ceviche while some don't.

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FindingParadise The place is called SUTUKIL simply because all restaurants offer three different ways of preparing fish and other seafood to their customers such as Grilling, Clear soup stew and Ceviche. You can have a parrot fish grilled (SU), sea bream or snapper stewed (TU) and eucheuma or yellow fin tuna as ceviche (KIL).

    For sea food I would just go to Seafood buffet in Cebu city, you enjoy unlimited shrimps, sorted fish, squid, scallops..... for just 800P., cooked either in garlic butter, steamed, fried, or roasted as you want.

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FindingParadise Not sure if i't's operating as normal. It's called Isla Sugbu Seafood City. I went there back in 2018 when I was learning English in Cebu. I fall in love with their garlic butter shrimp its the best I'd ever had. (even until today) Yeah, but anyway, the price in island tend to be much more expensive maybe due to less supply or sticky tourist demand.

      Finding Paradise actually im from Cebu, and I think it is not even worth it.You should try going to a fiesta to really experience filipino culture.

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look you're right. As it's tourist spot they can get away with it. Resorts also charge higher rates. I have had the chance to see some of your fiestas, they are really awesome!

    • @lionhearted1969
      @lionhearted1969 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaronaguirre5829 He's not a travel vlogger. He's just a regular tourist stranded in Cebu when the world started to impose border control. Going to fiestas is the usual route taken by some foreign vloggers who earn their keep on vlogging to please their subscribers' wishes. Some enjoy it while some don't. They only do it because that's what their fans want. It should be natural or driven by their own will like food vloggers.

    Lobster most expensive meat in America,

    • @FindingParadise
      @FindingParadise  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In Australia our lobster prices (partically at Christmas) crashed. We used to export a lot to China and with relationship souring of late, China put a ban on our lobster market. While bad for the fishermen here, it did caused an oversupply domestically and much cheaper prices!

      If your foreigner, the canvasers , the one that greet you outside to come to this restaurant mark up the price by 50 percent, local tourist is 20 percent. Dont go back to tjat place. Thats how thre business works there, the canvassers there are mostly drug addicts of shabu ampethtamine
