What a fun and crazy video! I was literally cracking up watching this. Probably the only video in history to do a bourbon and pie tasting (especially with someone who never had pie)! Kurt's comments about the French Silk are hilarious! Poor Trenton, the things he has to put up with! LMAO!!!
My Dad LOVES pie so much, he was , one time and one time only, in charge of getting all us kids to bring sides for thanksgiving one year. He had us all (5) bring two different kinds so he had set up 10 pies to go with turkey, potatoes and stuffing. It was classic Dad! His wife was livid and still gets angry when we bring it up 30 years later! Lol😊
Thank you Trenton as that leaves more cherry pie for those of us that LOVE pie! I would take pie over cake… always!!! Keep up the great work guys (and gals behind the scene), I look forward to the next episode. 🥃 Cheers!
KURT! You actually took the suggestion from the Benchmark comments to pair the bourbons with pies and you got the whole family in on it. Bless your heart, this was great. I better be careful with future suggestions, this could get out of hand 🤪. You're welcome, Trenton! If pie isn't your thing, another thought could be ice cream, numerous varieties would pair well with bourbon, some people pour a little over their ice cream. Vanilla is so common in bourbon, so vanilla ice cream is a given starter.
Bourbon and pie vs bourbon and cigars…no contest on what desert we choose here! Cohiba and any bourbon! Love the show and the interactions between y’all!
In cold weather Old Forester rye 100 proof tastes like dough and baking spice. It's one of my favorites, but I was surprised to find in warmer weather I get an overly sweet cherry lollypop flavor. Other rye whiskeys such as sazerac 90 proof and giant texas pot still single barrel 100 proof get more of a tropical fruit flavor that brings out the barrel flavor in warm weather much better. I got to try a sip of Thomas Handy back in June and it showed me how versatile rye can be. Sazerac became my favorite summer sipping rye with giant single barrel rye close behind with its pungent almost bitter apple finish. I also need to try antique 107 in cooler weather. It had a very strong cinnamon flavor on top of the pretzel dough and sweet notes I'm used to getting from a weller. I'm not much for hot mixed drinks typically but I have found some whiskeys that blend well with coffee. Bottled in bond whiskeys such as rittenhouse rye, early times whisky, and old tub give off a nice maple note that adds lots of flavor to coffee. Whether you sip the whiskey on the side with a cup of coffee or blend the whiskey into a cup of coffee there will be a noticeable synergy between the flavors. As a side note I recently got a bag of coffee beans that were aged in rye whiskey barrels. The extra barrel aging on the beans adds an interesting oak broth note to the coffee.
Respect to Mom for making the haul All the way to Dyer, my uncle lived out there when I was a kid and the drive from Hammond was almost to much for me 😆
Great idea for a dessert and bourbon pairing. I've paired chocolate with bourbon tastings with favorable reviews, but I've never tried bourbon with dessert. Interesting concept and show. You guys never cease to amaze me.
Trenton, Try this same show with cookies if you eat them. Snooker doodles and any bourbon (low budget) and a very new demention to your holiday bourbon drinking.
I've been watching your channel for a couple years, but THIS is the greatest single episode that you've ever done. Please, give us more forcing Trent to eat pie with bourbon. This needs to be at least a quarterly (if not monthly) bit. :D Cheers!
Butterscotch is a type of confectionery whose primary ingredients are brown sugar and butter. Some recipes include corn syrup, cream, vanilla, and salt. I had to look it up....
Who says no to vanilla ice cream on a hot apple pie? Also, I couldn't stop laughing about the whole butterscotch growing on trees thing. GREAT episode!
I meant to comment the first time I watched this one, and now I’m back for “seconds” on dessert! 😂 I just want to say, this was the FUNNIEST video you’ve made to date, and for me, above all, it shows the value of being a close FAMILY. Love you guys!
Hey guys, love your channel and the great interaction between the two of you. Having seen this episode I have to relate a story involving my best bud and I. We both watch your channel and enjoy our own forays into the world of Bourbon. Well, we were doing some work on his house and my wife brought ham and beans for supper for all three of us. The point to this is my buddy and I had a side "finger" of Knob Creek 12 year on the side. We challenge you and Trent to have a bowl of ham and beans, take a taste of the soup, then sip the Knob Creek. Without the ham and beans, the notes on caramels, brown sugar, oak and such are completely different within the bourbon as compared to when a spoonful of ham and beans are eaten BEFORE the taste of bourbon. We both noted a more pronounced sweetness on the plate than the bourbon by itself. Maybe try a ham and bean pairing with some top bourbons!! Try it!!!
I'm watching this show right now and it's so funny! You guys are hammered! I love it! I'm laughing my ass off! Love you guys. Trenton you are not a pie guy! lol
That all looks great ! I have never tried any if these pairings, however... I' ll be getting some quality chocolate to pair with some BT for sure now 😉 Also think apple would go well with Woodford too... sayin ! Thanks guys , good stuff
This was a great video! I can't wait to try some of these out myself....(although the only bottle I have is Buffalo Trace right now) since I am like Kurt and absolutely love pie! It was a lot of fun to watch Trenton squirm and then also Kurt's reactions to it.
Great segment! I’m fairly new to bourbon and whiskey videos (I’m a gin guy and a coffee liqueur guy . . . But not together), and fairly new to your channel, but LOVE the love and banter between you two! And LOVE that you guys aren’t snobs about what you do. Just honest opinions and interesting segments.
Two great "pie in a glass" whiskeys - Isaac Bowman port wine finished and Clyde May's Alabama Style whiskey. My reviews from Whiskey Suggest ☺️🥃 Isaac Bowman: Interesting color - can definitely see the influence of the port wine casks. This is Buffalo Trace juice finished by Bowman in Virginia. On the nose - Caramel, honey, strawberry, a bit of barrel note, and very cool hint of coconut. Pretty much the same on the palate, definitely fruit forward, very pleasant and a super easy sipper. Very nice finish, definitely punches above its weight at 92 proof and sticks around for a while. If you are a fan of finished whiskeys I would highly recommend. Clyde May's: Bought a 375ml on a whim. Let this one open up a bit in the glass. First sniff got a green apple / watermelon Jolly Rancher punch in the face. Over the next few minutes got an apple pie and vanilla vibe, moving towards vanilla glaze on top of a cinnamon roll. On the palate not overly complex - basically a hard cider on the front, some rye spice on the mid-palate. Not much finish in the chest but the appleyness stays in the mouth for a bit. Basically a flavored whiskey without being called a flavored whiskey. Not my cup of tea but I could see this being interesting in a cocktail.
Thanks for the suggestion, yt overlords. What a great video! I've baked with bourbon for years and I'm always experimenting. My husband also hates pie with one exception... pecan pie. You're bound to find one pie that you like, just keep trying! The bread thing though? I mean, I don't eat bread on Thanksgiving either but c'mon... Really?
How can you not like pie? When was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base we always had to stop and get a pie at Bakers Square/ House of Pies when going home to Michigan 🇺🇸 and French Silk,... Oh yeah 👍
What a hoot! I commend you, Kurt, for trying, in a gentle, fun way, to broaden your son's taste horizons. I wonder, is there a whiskey that goes well with pumpkin pie?
Great video guys. It never occurred to me to pair food with bourbon. I certainly do it with wine. As for pie: ANYTIME is a good time for pie. Sorry Trent, I can’t imagine “hating” pie.
Going back and watching some videos I missed. This is by far the most entertaining episode of SLB. And they’re all entertaining! You guys should do a flight of bourbon or two before every filming. I am in Kurt’s camp - more filling, less crust. I’m not a bread guy either. Also so glad that Trenton decided to go in front of the camera. Makes the channel all the better! 👍
This was absolutely 😂, best video ever 👍. ‘Bro- No”, Take Trenton to Traverse city Mi next year (vaca) for the annual cheery festival Enter him in to the pie eating contest without telling him 🍒 😂
Well since I love pie, I love the different pairings that you did, i don’t know what my favorite would be but since chocolate goes with a lot of different spirits and even red wine. I would have to say that the chocolate cream pie would be my favorite. It looked like you guys were having a lot of fun doing it. I love your comment at the end that you should have fun doing it and I agree, sharing bottles of whisky and enjoying the company of friends when you do it is what it’s all about. Norm

How did he grow up in the Mid-West and not learn to love pies? Breaks my heart.
Pies aren’t regional 😂
What a son will do for his father. Laughing the whole time while having my morning coffee. Keep ‘em coming.
What a fun and crazy video! I was literally cracking up watching this. Probably the only video in history to do a bourbon and pie tasting (especially with someone who never had pie)! Kurt's comments about the French Silk are hilarious! Poor Trenton, the things he has to put up with! LMAO!!!
😂
Seriously funny. This has to be the best episode. Trenton’s responses are just classic. The chemistry between you two is unparalleled.
This was so much fun to watch. I loved the faces with each bite! But more crust?? No way!! More filling! Thanks for making me laugh.
FUN VIDEO LOVE THE EXPRESSIONS TRENT MAKES TRYING THE DIFFERENT PIES. GOT TO GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR GOING THROUGH WITH IT.
This was a riot! So much fun! I've never had pie with my bourbon. I love the different opinions. Viva la diffe'rence! Thanks to all of the SLB gang!
One of the funniest videos I have ever seen you two do!
🤣
Your best and most entertaining video ! Never heard of someone not liking any kind of pie. I will definitely try the benchmark. Love the channel !
That. Was. Awesome! Thanks Kurt and Trenton. Great fun!
My Dad LOVES pie so much, he was , one time and one time only, in charge of getting all us kids to bring sides for thanksgiving one year. Perfect! He is my kind of guy!
@@slbdrinks BTW….loved the episode! I laughed out loud (no, REALLY!) several times! I’m into flavored whiskey, so this is right up my alley
Thank you Trenton as that leaves more cherry pie for those of us that LOVE pie! I would take pie over cake… always!!!
Keep up the great work guys (and gals behind the scene), I look forward to the next episode. 🥃 Cheers!

I have a butterscotch tree in my backyard, you mean you don't??? So much fun, guys! I laughed all the way through this. 😂
Loved this video the most! Love it when you all have fun with this all
The vibes are immaculate in this video, I'm envious of your guys relationship. Father and son, but friends as well.
Love SLB, keep up the good work!
There are, presumably, a Pros and Cons to having to refilm a significantly long bourbon tasting show. I think we are seeing the Pros.
Thanks buddy!
Bourbon and pie vs bourbon and cigars…no contest on what desert we choose here! Cohiba and any bourbon! Love the show and the interactions between y’all!

Now that might be a coffee I will actually drink lol!
My husband and I loved this episode. We laughed so much. Thanks for sharing this obvious loving relationship.
Truly was a great time!
Respect to Mom for making the haul All the way to Dyer, my uncle lived out there when I was a kid and the drive from Hammond was almost to much for me 😆
LOL !!!! 😂🤣🤣😂 The chocolate is nervous too !!! Thank you for the LMFAO moment Trent!
One thing that would pair well with a bourbon would be spice cake with Makers 46 🥃
Oooooh! I'll have to add that to the list since I do have some MM 46 Cask Strength.
Sounds great!
You two are so enjoyable to watch! This was such a fun video!
Fun! Butterscotch is brown sugar and butter often with vanilla. That makes sense for highlighting some bourbon notes.
I've been watching your channel for a couple years, but THIS is the greatest single episode that you've ever done.
Please, give us more forcing Trent to eat pie with bourbon.
This needs to be at least a quarterly (if not monthly) bit. :D

Great video, loved the thought behind it as well.
And… just one more, this is my favorite show so far, love starting my day with a cup of coffee and watching SLB
Butterscotch is a type of confectionery whose primary ingredients are brown sugar and butter. Some recipes include corn syrup, cream, vanilla, and salt. I had to look it up....
Thanks!
This is, by far, the most entertaining episode! 🤣👏
OMG that’s just hysterical, 😂😂😂 luv it set him up and he never saw it coming.
Best episode ever.
Awesome episode! So, funny! Seriously though, I never thought about pairing bourbon with a dessert. Nice job!
Who says no to vanilla ice cream on a hot apple pie? Also, I couldn't stop laughing about the whole butterscotch growing on trees thing. GREAT episode!

2mins in, this is pure gold! 🔥
Top 3 video from SJB! Keep up awesome videos, I look forward to them every week!
One of my favorite treats is part of an 80%-85% cocoa bar with a 2oz pour of sweeter bourbon.
You guys are a kick! Love the pie!! Crust and filling!!
Pie > Cake - from a southerner. Change my mind,

Welcome John!

A) This may be one of your best episodes. Hilarious!

It was a lot of fun to watch Trenton squirm and then also Kurt's reactions to it.
Great video! You and Trent are the best!
And BTW. Trenton. Pie Is The Best. I could eat pie with/for every meal 🤤
Fun video. I would add Sagamore Double Oaked to this list. It goes amazingly well with Apple Pie A La Mode!
That does sound good!
Thanks for the awesome content guys!
Hilarious video! I thought Trenton was going to hurl the whole show😂
This was a really fun video - I love pie and I will need to try a couple of these.
You Guy's and Gal's are awesome !!!!!
Great video guys definitely a fun one
Super kewl video guys. Was a good time to watch. Cheers.

Ok I have so many more comments, 😂 but I’ll leave it at this, you all are great and this was thoroughly entertaining. Cheers!
Thank you!
You guys are sort of schlammered, love it

@@slbdrinks Thanks Kurt. Love how you're growing the channel.

The bread thing though? I mean, I don't eat bread on Thanksgiving either but c'mon... Really?
Ha lol! Well in full disclosure I do eat bread like for a sandwich etc but it’s not one of my cravings. Now garlic bread with spaghetti?? Legit
How can you not like pie? When was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base we always had to stop and get a pie at Bakers Square/ House of Pies when going home to Michigan 🇺🇸 and French Silk,... Oh yeah 👍
The best video yet. Love it. Sorry Trenton
Butterscotch sauce is made of brown sugar cooked to 240 °F (116 °C) mixed with butter and cream. (Wiki)
Awesome info!
You can tell that Trenton both hates pie and loves his cousin! As always, a great show. Thanks guys.
That looked like a lot of fun. I would definitely eat all of those pies.
What a hoot! I commend you, Kurt, for trying, in a gentle, fun way, to broaden your son's taste horizons.
I wonder, is there a whiskey that goes well with pumpkin pie?
Wild turkey Honey!
Not sure. I would think a lighter flavored low proofer.
It was fun for me too!! I'm going to send Trent a Butterscotch bush to plant outside the house! 🤣
I think we need another episode where you teach your son about pie. Haha!! 😆 maybe a trip to said Bakers Square!
Yesss!
Mannnn who doesn’t like pie?!?!
YES, PIE!!!!! Oh, yeah bourbon is ok😂 I really enjoyed this pairing.
Lol! Great time for sure!
Continue to raise that boy in the way he should go!
Oh, man, watching this was so much fun!
Best SLB yet….you guys were buzzed for sure but I’d like to hang out at your bar anytime!!!
Hysterical. Well done, gentlemen.
Haha. Great video, Kurt. I too was floored when he said he doesn’t like pies…who doesn’t like pies.
Right??!
Ah man, now I want some pie! 😆
You guys crack me up! Best video ever.
This honestly is one of my faves!
That was fun! I laughed along with you.

Tipsy bourbon reviews are the best bourbon reviews! You guys are amazing. I wish I could come and just hang out with you guys sometime

One of the best videos…
Not sure about desserts... but BBQ and smoked meats with bourbon.... amazing.... not going to name the name of the restaurant.. but they are known for chicken wings, grab a pour of Woodford Reserve, pretty good for sure.... then my fav for home is Hickory smoked ribs with a sweet bbq sauce, with Stranahan yellow label cask strength... amazing.....
I don't get the texture thing with peoples pallets, I have 5 things I won't eat, and I can't remember 2 of them.... Cheers fellas....
I have found that banana pudding is a perfect dessert with bourbon! Gotta try it with BBQ!
You and me both with the texture! Now you got me thinking bout bbq and Stranahans yellow cs!! Sounds delicious!
