    Thank you for being honest. So many people hate on these but they're usually pretty darn good for the price point.

    I don't see how anyone could mistake a Ganzo for anything else. Yeah, the designs are similar, but they're not trying to BE any other company. I own a couple Ganzos, and at that price point, I don't have anything remotely close to being as good. I'd like to see what they could put together for $150.

    I've owned a few Ganzo knives, bought them at a local hardware store. They were good beater knives for work and around the house. I recently bought the 724 and 756, the quality has actually improved from my old knives.

    I bought a ganzo for my son as a toy considering the price point. However after using it and testing it myself I'm pleasantly surprised at how good it actually is. It outperforms knives that cost double.

    The one thing I would wish to see from Ganzo, is a whole line of size scaled down knives.
    All the Ganzo knives are big utility size. Which is fine. But I work in a restaurant. I don't want to carry a knife that will clear out the whole room when I take it out.

    Your statements on ganzos is spot on. They have a feel, design and place in the world. Too many people get butthurt that they vaguely look like some "genuine" knives. They aren't pretending they are "genuine" knives.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen someone review a real forgery of the Benchmade... it it looked like the real deal. But yeah this looks and feels a lot different. I'd personally never buy a fake... but these are different enough to be considered there own thing.

  • @FreakzRitual

    Just recieved the fh21 yesterday. I'm freaking amazed. I'd like too know what you think?. I hear the fh11 is another beauty.. So far I think ganzo is the best low budget knife company. Sadly I'm tired of knife snobs talking crap because I cant afford the popular name brands. I understand why the hate but than again I dont because how many knife companies use the same locking mechanism and look similar too alot of other knives that dont get as much hate as ganzo and the axis lock... I guess ganzo should make their own designs then maybe they will get some kind of respect

    • @fullfire0
      @fullfire0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's funny too because the axis lock patent expired. They're free to use it. Don't let the haters get you down. Buy what you like and can afford. Ganzo is good, because they don't try and be other companies. They aren't making counterfeits and trying to trick people into paying full price like other clones out there. They borrow design ques from other companies, but then they label it under their own name, Ganzo, which is fine. There is a big difference between clones and counterfeits. In the end, we're all knife people and we should be buying knives we like!

    I really wanted the CF version of the Ganzo F7562 but I ordered the green w/black blade version on sale and I'm glad I did. The Ganzo CF knives are sweet but pretty slippery in comparison to the scaled versions. After getting my first CF version Ganzo (Ganzo G7392 - CF) I'm personally sticking with the scaled versions over the CF handles. Your results may vary. My next Ganzo on the way is the orange aluminum auto version... Overall you can't go wrong with the Ganzo knives.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro

    So tempting. Any idea how grippy the Ganzo G10 is? I like the orange but dislike the pocket wear that normally rides shotgun with textured G10 scales.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Compared to spyderco less... way less than a cold steel. It’s not smooth, but it isn’t s pocket killer. Most Flat slabs of Ganzo G10 I’ve come across have a similar texture. They’re super cheap to try out at $15-20 though. Much much less than trying a spyderco with G10.

    Recently got one and mostly I love it but I have a major problem with the ‘detent’ or whatever the equivalent would be with this lock. The tip of the knife is extremely close to sticking out further than the liners, and there’s a just enough play in it when closed and locked that it can easily shift just a hair and poke out enough to be dangerous. Last night I fumbled the knife while closed and locked, and caught it on such a way that the tip of the blade dug into my hand and gouged me up pretty deeply. Going to attempt a low/tech reprofilig of the tip using sharpening stones and sand paper, I have no idea what I’m doing but I’ll love this life a lot more once I’m not afraid of biting me while closed. Anyway sorry for the long tangent, love your vids, just wanted to share my own experience since you commented that the lock holds it shut pretty well. I know every knife is a bit different with less expensive companies like this.

      Advanced Knife Bro no problem! The update is, I was able to send it down so it’s less of an issue now and the knife is still a beauty. Whether I solved it completely remains to be seen.

  • @kleinbottled79
    @kleinbottled79 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 'G-lock' IS the only thing holding the blade shut in the handle. I had the great idea of taking some tension out of my omega springs on a Ganzo and the blade retention suffered. This is still a decent idea if your lock is really stiff, just don't take out too much.

    Love the video, the ganzo is a nice knife. I have the 940-2 and absolutely love it. My only complaint about the 940 is, it's a little small. Wish it was closer in size to the Ganzo.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      And that's why I like the 940... it disappears in the pocket.. But hey, some people prefer more substantial knives... nothing wrong with that.

  • @neo187420
    @neo187420 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I own a BenchMade 940-1. I also own a Ka-Bar Dozier. Both are great knives and are about as opposite as one could get on the price point spectrum. I guess the bottom line is pick what works for you. If you're inclined to spend over 200.00$ on a excellent EDC knife as I have, then go for it. If you're looking for something that's great, cheap, but not cheap in quality and ergonomics, go for the Dozier. Final thoughts. I love both knives, but be forewarned. The Ka-Bar Dozier is the gateway drug of the EDC folder world. Soon you'll want to get the Rat 1 and 2 and then the Spyderco Tenacious.

    You should try the clone 940-1 !!! The patent is over 2018 no legal problems !
    Carpenter recommended value blade !!!
    There are even metal inserts for the pocket clip screws ! Partial liners 2.6 oz s !The g lock springs arent si hard that they have to be adjusted! the pivot is good won't have to be adjusted ! The handle is a little square will have to be rounded !
    The fit and finish is 10x better than the crooked river out of box !!!
    I rapped the spine on the new clone i got a lot harder than you did the 940-1 . It didn't pop !

    I think it's a great work knife and EDC. I regret having purchased it in Firebird's CF laminate, it found the scales way too slick for liking. I hesitated buying the G10 version because I didnt at all like the 3 colored stripes on the scales. Other than that, I truly live this model.

    I know this video has been up a while, but I was considering buying the F7562 as a beater EDC when I'm doing stupid crap instead of risking my 940-2 and while watching this, I realized your "Benchmade" was very likely a chinese counterfeit. The biggest tell is the "Benchmade USA" on the pocket clip. The real deal only says "Benchmade". This was one of the things I was told to keep an eye on when I was buying the 940 once I learned there were (very good) counterfeits out there. (I like your description of the F7562 as being the Karaoke version btw!)

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, that's not true. A quick google search online can give you plenty of images with several Benchmade clip variations. Here's a review with one, like one you describe from a legit source.
      bladereviews.com/benchmade-940-1-review/
      And here's a picture from a reputable retailer that sells a clip that looks mine.
      www.knivesshipfree.com/benchmade-knives-940-1-osborne-carbon-fiber/
      This knife came from an associates buying program- as in it was ordered directly from Benchmade.
      I have also owned a variation of the 940, and it was remarkably similar in quality.

    • @mrmacman2u
      @mrmacman2u 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I realized that after, sorry about that. I guess I've made myself a bit jumpy when I learned there were some VERY good counterfeits out there that can easily be mistaken for the real deal. For poor knife bros like me who've got a whole collection of ~50 dollar knives (and one $110 Benchmade), the idea that there is even a risk of getting a fake when I was trying to convince myself to drop almost 270 Washingtons on a knife was... daunting.
      Thanks for the compare video though! I ended up buying both the BM for feeling like a fellow knife bro at work with top hat + monocle levels of fanciness and the Ganzo for cludging around the camp sites and trails.

    Hey Knife Bro! What, in your opinion, are the best Ganzo knives overall that you've tested? Say the top 3-5? I'm looking to maybe try one or two. What are the best "knock-offs?"

  • @wojtekimbier
    @wojtekimbier 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Had I watched this I would've known... I tried to disassemble my ganzo but one of the pivots wouldn't turn and I wrecked it, loosening the other pivot put the blade off-center...

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they started doing this on some of their newer Firebird knives. I don't have the motivation or patience to disassemble these just so I can do some minor pivot adjustment. Honestly... with the micro turn I did, I don't think it made deployment much better. It's actually fairly decent on this knife... but again- deployment on their G Lock model can vary from knife to knife.

    Oh by the way I have the crooked river large and mini and the real 940 and all the spring have broken isn less than a year ! All replaced with ganzo (G) lock springs ! I bought ganzos,s I don,t like to get the spring ( that never break even when bent for tuning ( pull weight adjustment ) ( didn,t do anything to the benchmade crap springs but oil )!

    I like Ganzo knives more than I should. I agree that there is too little variation between their models, and you can tell they are mass produced with cheap screws that strip too easily. If I had my way I would much rather pay twice as much to have a Benchmade brand import knife series that used better hardware and had a US based distributor. Hear that Benchmade? Make some $40 imports with good quality control and they would sell like hotcakes. Plus you would undercut Ganzo in the process...

      Yeah I've been waiting for Ganzo to make something smaller, about the size of the real 940 would be perfect. But no, when they make a 940 clone it's the same damn size as every other knife they make. I would be ordering this knife right now if it were a 3 inch blade. (already have plenty of 3 1/2 inch Ganzos.)

    So far out of all the "piston" lock type knives, I'm enjoying the Y-Start offerings the best. Comes reeealy close to the Benchmade in terms of stiffness. Doesn't marr up the thumb nearly as much as a Ganzo..
    After modding though, still can't go wrong with Ganzo's..
    Cheers man, thanks for sharing!

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems more likely to me. They're not close enough in design to be clones... they take a few visual clues, and make their own. It's like when I was a kid... we had GI Joes... and then that off brand shit like US Corps... or whatever they were called.

      Advanced Knife Bro Also polished the blade in the pivot/washer area, replaced the nylon washer with a phosphorus bronze one and polished the back of the blade that rides agains the locking pin. Now it makes no sense to buy a Benchmade 940.

    Lolz. I waisted time and money on the shitty ganzo paramilitary 2 clone. Blade chipped and snapped first time I tried any “aggressive” wood processing and would never stay sharp longer than a day or two. Threw that 💩 out.

    • @AdvancedKnifeBro
      @AdvancedKnifeBro  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's rare.... I have beat up many Ganzos on this channel with no ill effects other than a loose pivot. I've broken much more expensive knives though.... Sometimes you get a blade with a bad heat treat. It happens on all knives. A dude on a video here last week that he had broken his Para Military 2 with S100v steel in half.

    • @ianschmitt6079
      @ianschmitt6079 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Advanced Knife Bro no no I agree 100%. That just left a bad taste in my mouth with the 44c so when knife shopping if I see anything with anything less than 8cr13mov I just skip over it. I was purchased a clone of the paramilitary 2 with 8cr13mov by a dear friend and have had it for 6 years carrying it everyday and it’s been the best knife I’ve ever had. Up until I finally broke down and got the benchamade bug out a couple weeks ago and can really tell the difference. Still have the paramilitary 2 clone and is still a great knife. I’ve done lots and lots of heavy cutting with it including hammering it through small pieces of wood to make kindling A LOT. I just can’t use a knife with butter knife steel as a daily carry anymore.
