I did appreciate The Fertile Earth for its good explanation of what drove the Naxillite movement. The only other fictional account of that I've read is The Lowland by Lahiri, but it didn't go into depth like this one did.
Your reviews are my favorite. Eve blew my mind. I especially loved the part about body fat and the point of it in female bodies - for example, fat around the hips and thighs specifically exists to help build a baby's brain. I loved it. More people need to realize that body fat has an evolutionary purpose. Wouldn't the world be a wonderful place if more folks accepted that? Okay, That's all for now. I'm looking for a suitable country to which I can flee. Any thoughts?
Thanks for reviewing Sweet Bean Paste. Very happy it is not another quirky-cosy-cutie Japanese novel, which are driving me nuts. Japan is more than a quirky-cosy-cutie land. People with leprosy suffered a lot in Japan. Pretty shocking if one reads up about it. I might buy this book now after your review.
Wow, there isn’t one of these books that I don’t now want to read. The only one I have read is Sweet Bean Paste, which I thought was fabulous. Great video 😊
I really enjoyed the video. Thank you. And Safe Haven looks intriguing. I’m tempted to buy it. But Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens was such a poorly written novel, with the characters almost all two-dimensional and the plot predictable. I don’t know what the Miles Franklin judges were thinking!
First time I read Chai Time I thought exactly what you said and I DNFed it, when it won the Miles Franklin I gave it another chance and really liked it. I don't know what the difference was, but I do see what you mean by the characters being a bit black and white in Chai Time, they're a bit more grey in Safe Haven - but this is an area she could still improve upon in future novels.
Hey thanks Scott. I still have Chai Time on both Kindle and Audible, so maybe I should reread it for a more nuanced appreciation. And then consider Safe Haven. Cheers.
My husband walked by while you were talking about Eve and he said, "that sounds like a book I'd like to read." WIN!
Winning! That's awesome. :)
I wish I could forget the president, but at least I comforted myself with a trip to the library earlier -- and now I'm here...
These reviews were exactly what I needed today! Thank you! I am adding Sweet Bean Paste to my TBR right now.
Really enjoyed your very sharp comments and insightful reviews.
Thank you for putting new authors on my radar.

Eve and Safe Haven are on my TBR and now I’m even more keen to get to them ASAP!
Looking forward AF to And So I Roar…. Apparently I will love it 😊 📚🪱💚
You will, it's impossible not to!
I always love your videos
I agree with your point about minority governments. And your tiger-hunting safety tip.
It's important children take the correct precautions when hunting tigers.
Excellent reviews. Thanks so much for your thoughts. The Fertile Earth sounds excellent.

Bhutan, they prioritise the happiness of their citizens over anything else, those radicals!
Visited Finland a few months ago. Amazing country. Solid social policy and emphasis on holistic.
@@muddywatersbookshelf7758 Hmmmm …. I have to see how empowered Putin feels. Otherwise, Finland and Estonia are high on my list.
Thank you for your candid discussion around Safe Haven. ❤️
Thanks dude, needed this
Sweet Bean Paste is the only one I've read, by chance, and I enjoyed it, but don't remember much 4 or so years on.
Thanks!
Thank you so much!
Sounds like you have an important election coming up. Good luck! Looking forward to reading Sweet Bean Paste after your review.
After you read the book, watch the movie.
@@1c1pal Wait, there was a movie made too? Will definitely watch it after. Thx.
