Brian Brushwood performs this amazing impromptu card trick in the latest episode of Scam School • Put Your Wizard Mind T... Biddle Count and The Ascanio Spread
For people wondering why there card is always 3rd from the bottom, it's supposed to be 3rd from the bottom for when you flip the cards over its 2nd from the top!
For everyone wondering why you are getting it in the third position, he did not count his cards right. When he placed the card back into the deck, he had 5 cards on the top and 2 cards on the bottom, so he is placing it after the 5 cards. Once you take the 3 off and then the 4 off it will always be in the second position. He was incorrect when he said that he separated it with 4 on top and 3 on the bottom. It must have been accidental, but that is the solution. WHEN PLACING THE CARD BACK INTO THE DECK, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 5 ON TOP AND 2 ON THE BOTTOM.
I think there must be some basic assumption that we differ on. When I do it, I get the right results using four on top and three on the bottom, just as stated in the video. Suppose the chosen card is a Jack. Place it under four cards and on top of three: (top) 2 3 4 5 J 6 7 8 (bottom) Now we run three cards: (top) 5 J 6 7 8 4 3 2 (bottom) Now we run four cards: (top) 8 4 3 2 7 6 J 5 (bottom) The chosen card is now in seventh position, so when we flip the bottom four card over and place them on top we get: (top) 5 J 6 7 8 4 3 2 (bottom) The Jack is now face up in second position, just where it needs to be. Kyle, I'm sure your method works too, but it must have some different assumption about what is going on. I'd be curious to see your method described in these terms.
Okay here is what I do. Take out my 8 cards of course which I have in this order: 2,3,10,7,9,A,5,K Lets just say I take out the 3. Now if I do as he says and separate them into two piles, the 4 group on top, and the 3 group on bottom, this would mean I would be placing my 3 behind the 4 group, and above the 3 group in the 5th position. Now I would have, from top to bottom: 2,10,7,9,3,A,5,K Let's continue: I take off the 2,10,7 moving them to the bottom, giving me, from top to bottom, 9,3,A,5,K,2,10,7. I know take off 4 moving the 9,3,A,5 giving me: K,2,10,7,9,3,A,5 Now I split them in groups of 4 bringing the bottom half to the top. As you can see from my example it would go 5,A,3 making the 3 my 3rd card. However if I were to have put the 3 into the 6th position at the beginning my 3 would be in the 2nd position. Hope I explained it well enough, but if you read down the posts there are plenty of people who are experiencing this problem. I think it is just some miscommunication or error by the uploader.
Kyle Beck Ah, I see the difference. You are moving the cards from top to bottom as a block, essentially cutting the deck. So your first transfer starts with the 2, 10, 7 at the top and ends up with 2, 10, 7 at the bottom in the same order. In the video, he is running those cards (shuffling them off one at a time), so they end up at the bottom in reverse order. He would end up with 7, 10, 2 at the bottom in your example. So, for anyone still reading, if you transfer cards from top to bottom in the same order, place the chosen card as Kyle suggests. If you run the cards, place the chosen card as Mismag suggests.
Probably my second favorite card trick here. As mentioned in the video, it does require a little bit of practice, but once you have it down you've got a killer card trick. Absolutely love this effect.
+Noah Green Happened to me too. After you peel the first 3 and they are already on the bottom don't worry. When you begin pealing the 4 cards, take card on top (which will be in your hand) then take the second card and put it on top of the first. Take the third and put it on the second, and the fourth and put it on the fourth. Sorry if the explanation was bad. I tried.
There's also another way to enhance this trick: When you're changing cards in this trick (in piles of 3 and 4) you can use this method. Shuffle 3 cards down, then 4 (just like in video). Shuffle 5 more cards the same way and shuffle 2-8 cards depending on viewer's choice. It does not really matter whether it's 2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8 in last shuffle, card will always be in the same position.
When I do the last move, the hidden card very often comes accidentally along with the third card you're revealing(the cards stick together). Would a fresh new deck help (it's old and worn) or does it simply require more practice?
TheKeisari A new deck is not needed, it is just practice unless the deck is actually sticky ( I have no clue if the move would still work at that point).
I love this guys videos! Always informative and as a novice, who is clumsy with the hands, I appreciate the depth he goes into! Appreciate the uploads man!
This is a really great effect for how simple the card trick is to perform. People are always amazed! Since I know how the trick works, I think the spectator might catch me stealing their card when I peel it off, but they suspect nothing. Awesome trick!!
LOL. I was trying to do the trick along with you and as I picked eight random cards and picked one card out of the eight random cards, it was the eight of clubs.
Dude you help me get my schools attention! During lunch I practice my magic tricks and right when I pull out my cards, there is a crowd of people around me.
That's a surprisingly nice trick. I always have a deck of cards on hand, and I also prefer to have plenty of impromptu tricks - this is a great addition to that collection, I think.
By far the best trick in my book, people get literally stunned by that. For the presentation, i set the 1st pile into the empty card box and give that to the spectator and then i pretend to invisibly move and revert theyre card into pile n.2.
DJT senpai keep the two jokers aside then ask you spectator to chose a card and control it to the bottom then keep the jokers at the top and bottom and the top then side the bottom joker to the side a bit as if showing them that it is a joker then grab the deck and throw it into the other hand and the cards your hand was touching will not move
One might allow the spectator to merely THINK of a card rather than to handle it and return it to the pile. If the spectator 'randomly' creates four piles of four cards and then a 'redistribution' of the cards occurs after they have a card in mind from any one pile. They then point to the pile that they 'thought card' has ended up it and then at any other pile. You use these eight cards. You will know which card the spectator is thinking of and can then move forward with the biddle trick.
Peel the cards in 3's and 4's respectively, then place it below the deck.Peeling and placing the cards individually will cause the card the spectator chose to be the 3rd one down. Mismag did it but he didn't elaborate on the term "casually shuffling" Thumbs up so that people can see this ! :]
This channel is fantastic. I love having card tricks that require no set up, and this channel is great for that. This trick is a lot of fun, I really like how you plugged Scam School. Great job with the cards, and etiquette.
If anyone is unfamiliar with the asconio grip but is good with an elmsley count, you can count off all four cards face down (in a biddle grip so as to hide the last card) instead of moving two to the bottom, then turn the cards face up and take off one card, then do an elmsley count as usual.
what i love about you is that you give credit to other people and recommend their channles and rly want tp teach us. Your not thinking about making money on this channle you do this beacuse you love it and we subscirbers can see that on your good vids.
at 2:54 he states that you have 3 cards at the bottom, the selection then 4 cards on top. Peel off 3, then place on bottom, then peel off 4 then place on bottom. When you have the 2 piles of 4 and turn the bottom 4 over, you will always have the selection second from. His instructions are very clear and they seem to work for everyone else here on the channel. I tried to follow step by step thinking that if I follow exactly, the card will be 3rd. Nope, works every time.
For added effect, you could do an elmsley count to show that the first pile has 4 cards (pass one back to the bottom and count it twice. Then they think that both piles have 4 cards, then the effect is that much better when you "move" the card.
This is definitely one of my new favorite tricks to perform. But my favorite is still the "This 'n' That" card trick. I know how to perform it but I think you should do a tutorial on it. It's very simple and has great feedback from the audience!
Hey everybody. I've been using this for a while now, but the method of showing the cards in the second packet always arouses suspicion because of the weird way you spread them. So instead of what's shown here, I take an extra card to the bottom, turn the packet face up, and then do a count, taking the third to last and second to last cards (the face down card) off as one to count four. I find it's much more effective in surprising the audience because it seems like a regular legitimate count.
if you put four cards on top of their card, then move three cards like you say, then move four cards like you say, when you flip the bottom 4 cards, their card will be third from the top. So to make this trick work, move only 2 cards the first time instead of 3, then move 4 and it will work right.
when the spectator returns the card, make sue you have 3 cards in the bottom packet and 4 cards on top, this is the first place that it could happen. the second place is during the casual shuffle. make sure to take 3 cards the first time and 4 cards the second time, this will get the spectators card in the second position.
do a giveaway with this card bicycle cards.. where can i get those cards? plss do a giveaway i love this cards and i know to do some card tricks plss leave an answer and do giveaway plss fan
Just a thought, if anyone is having trouble sleighting (is that even a word?) the spectator's card to the bottom without revealing that it is missing when pulling the top card, I find putting slightly more pressure on the top and bottom of the pack helps keep the cards flush and hidden when performing this sleight.
Mismag822... i have been waiting to see an awesome channel that explains things perfectly. As soon as i clicked this channel, i watched this video. And all that waiting has paid off. You are the best. Thank you very much
I think that what you are doing is, placing each card under the deck individually. You need to put the first three cards in a pile then put them under as a stack. Then the same with the four cards. Hope this helps.
This effect is so clever, I can't wait to perform this in walkaround!!! Sir Cardtrickteacher you are the best and long live scam school. England love's you. Keep it up and have a great Christmas Big love and respect Mr Ross Lydon
Great trick - been doing a lot of very difficult moves in the past and currently, and to date the Ascanio spread still makes me nervous to pull off right. Its so simple but really knacky - thanks for sharing the basic slights as I still believe I have a lot to learn.
If you have a couple, you could use this trick with some patter and say, “We'll test to see if you have the traditional arrangement. [Look at the male] What’s yours is [look at the female] hers. [Look at the female] And what’s hers is [pause, look at the male and then back to the female] HERS [smile / chuckle]. Have the male select the card. Not enough room to go over all the patter, but he winds up with the small pile, she winds up with the big pile including "his" card :)
You just grab it with your thumb and middle finger which are still in the Biddle grip as you slide the top card off of the entire pack. If you do it smooth enough, it just looks like you took the top card off, and not that you took that card while depositing the spectator's card into your other hand. Takes some practise for sure.
Anybody wondering why u keep getting it in the third position it's because he takes it off the top one at a time and put them on the bottom instead of pealing three then four and putting all of them on the bottom
I kind of feel like the "big 4" card magic channels each have their own strengths that compliment one another, but along with DecksandContests, andyfieldmagic, and howtoDisturbReality I'd agree that mismag822 is an essential part of any TH-cam magic diet.
They can place the card anywhere in the 8! Fan them out and take note of the position. On the top: deal 3, 3, 3, 4 2nd: deal 4, 5, 4 3rd: deal 3, 4, 4 4th: deal 2, deal 4 5th: deal 3, deal 4 6th: deal 4, deal 4 7th: deal 5, deal 4 OR deal 3, deal 2, deal 4 8th: deal 3, deal 3, deal 4 This will be good to let them freely choose where in the pack they put the card! I like to tell them "on top", get a suspicious look, and then let them place it anywhere to throw them! Remember 7th (5,4) to help.
I do a version of this trick and it is one of my favorites as well :)
First
thats funny how you replied after 9 years
For people wondering why there card is always 3rd from the bottom, it's supposed to be 3rd from the bottom for when you flip the cards over its 2nd from the top!
I miss the old days back in middle school watching these magic card trick videos. Thanks for being a part of my childhood!! 😁
Finally an easy and very powerful trick!
true, this was awesome!
John Frost
Not so easy for me, I got small hands!
J.R. Mendoza Yes, my hands are also small but with some practice you can do almost everything :)
Temmo Rijken i know what you mean ;)
2:34 that was very unexpected xD
For everyone wondering why you are getting it in the third position, he did not count his cards right. Probably my second favorite card trick here. As mentioned in the video, it does require a little bit of practice, but once you have it down you've got a killer card trick. Absolutely love this effect.
Can some one help me everytime I do the trick the card is always in the third position from the top

SleepingCube thanks!! That helped me as well. It was driving me crazy. I watched the video 1000 times and it kept coming out wrong.

hats off to you man.
thanks for teaching
As a very new card magic practitioner I thank you for the time you take sharing these tricks.

awesome well all the credits go to mismag
+ghostechful For the tutorial, but for the trick it is Brian Brushwood.
I think it just requires more practice that happened to me but I learnt to slide it back
TheKeisari I had the same issue, but resolved it with doing two 3 card, 4 card shuffles as he showed. Then flip the top 4 instead.
I love this guys videos! Always informative and as a novice, who is clumsy with the hands, I appreciate the depth he goes into! Appreciate the uploads man!

When I would do the card trick it never worked until the seventh try.
ur card magic is some of the best on youtube

I love Mismag822's tricks, because he rarely does gimmic tricks and he makes it look so impressive.
I just love your tricks
I have already impressed many people with your tricks

My two favourite youtube chanels:mismag822 and scamschool. Thanks guys...

Loved your videos; those were the days.

I really like this trick. It looks good and it doesn't take much work to do it well.
He's the best card trick teacher ANYWHERE! :D
I know im late but for everyone wondering: When he peels 3 and then 4 it works, he inverts the order of the cards... pay closer attention next time
Wow, this biddle steal technique is so brilliant
YES!!!! that are the 'cool tricks you can perform at partys'! love it!!!! gj!
This had to be by far my favorite card trick! I saw Brian do it and I wanted to find out. THANKS!
That card looks quite awesome and chill
Just a thought, if anyone is having trouble sleighting (is that even a word?) the spectator's card to the bottom without revealing that it is missing when pulling the top card, I find putting slightly more pressure on the top and bottom of the pack helps keep the cards flush and hidden when performing this sleight.
probably my favorite trick yet!!
Excellent beginner trick. All of your stuff is nice. Thanks for your instructions.
Mismag822... i have been waiting to see an awesome channel that explains things perfectly. As soon as i clicked this channel, i watched this video. And all that waiting has paid off. You are the best. Thank you very much
I watched this card trick ad I have shown two people and they were mind boggled
Great! I love this trick,it was easy to learn but powerful, especially because they put their hand on the left pile :D
you are the awesomesest (is that even a word?) card trick person in the world i love all your tricks and everyone in my school falls for them
Great trick. I picked up the sleights pretty quick and nearly have it mastered
This is my new favorite on the spot trick
This is a really good trick, your performances of the tricks really helps a lot!
this trick took me forever to learn but I'm so glad that i can finally do it
High quality technique! The best tech in youtube! Very good explanations
Ascanio Count may well be the better bet since four different cards can clearly be seen where upon with the Elmsley Count one card will be seen twice.
Keep it up and have a great Christmas
Big love and respect
Mr Ross Lydon
i love how you have so many different colours of the bicycle deck
when you randomly select the same card they do in the video... like a boss!
i love the bicycle deck plus this is a really great trick cant wait to do this to my friends
I LOOVE Scam School!! He's going to be at a MLP con at the end of this month and I'm SOOO Excited to see him :D
I tried this trick with my family and friends and they were all shocked! Thank you so much!
What's funny is I just started learning card tricks and I can do this better than a lot of the others on Scam School.
Great trick - been doing a lot of very difficult moves in the past and currently, and to date the Ascanio spread still makes me nervous to pull off right. Its so simple but really knacky - thanks for sharing the basic slights as I still believe I have a lot to learn.
I knew how it was done, but for some reason I still watched it. If it's not the second card your doing it wrong.
This card trick is awesome thanks dude for all the tutorials on cards
Anybody wondering why u keep getting it in the third position it's because he takes it off the top one at a time and put them on the bottom instead of pealing three then four and putting all of them on the bottom
This is now my go to trick thanks a lot for teaching
This is why I've always subscribed to you mismag! Jolly good work!
Great trick. Always loved these kind of tricks.
I Still like this trick. Great again Jay
i saw it in scam school and also the read five mind at once trick and the warp a card and its really awesome...
Microphone is so loud, I nearly died listening to this tutorial.
MisMag I started doing videos because of you. you are the best.
Thank you Mister Mag! I enjoy so much learning from your channel.
it's easy but have a great effect coz you look like you shuffle the cards many times
i like this one really
I kind of feel like the "big 4" card magic channels each have their own strengths that compliment one another, but along with DecksandContests, andyfieldmagic, and howtoDisturbReality I'd agree that mismag822 is an essential part of any TH-cam magic diet.
One of my favorite tricks that i had learned from you
this trick can also be called card across. biddle move but card across premise
They can place the card anywhere in the 8! Fan them out and take note of the position.
On the top: deal 3, 3, 3, 4
2nd: deal 4, 5, 4
3rd: deal 3, 4, 4
4th: deal 2, deal 4
5th: deal 3, deal 4
6th: deal 4, deal 4
7th: deal 5, deal 4 OR deal 3, deal 2, deal 4
8th: deal 3, deal 3, deal 4
This will be good to let them freely choose where in the pack they put the card! I like to tell them "on top", get a suspicious look, and then let them place it anywhere to throw them! Remember 7th (5,4) to help.
