Any tips for lessening the pressure on yourself when it comes to your work? I want to get so much better, but I’m also a hard critic of myself, still trying to grasp that
My mind was recently blown by the 50% rule from the draw a box course: For every minute you study drawing you need to minute drawing from the imagination, but I love the framing because you are supposed to not care if it's bad basically it's better if it's bad it's framed as basically torture you have to endure to deserve being able lot to learn again. It's soo freeing because it really shifts the mind to be happy that you even managed your thirty minutes of free drawing, absolutely regardless of the results. I think doing this as a habit will be totally transformative for me. (I can draw pretty well from reference, but there is something about being sooo bad again that it's almost a rush to think of, because it's obvious that I can improve massively at this free drawing....) sorry for rambling a bit...
I think most of the time when we put pressure on ourselves, its because we compare ourselves or our art to others. try and limit that and realize that your work is on its own road. also I found it helpfull when i detach from my work and dont have a sense of ownership over it. Art became way more freeing when that happened. i would make sculptures and wreck it after i was done, or draw something and tear the paper up. If i have the skill to do it once, i can always do it again. hope this helped a little bit, Ill probably make a video abt this topic so lmk if you'd want to see that!!
@@Bijansabeti Thank you!! Yes this was very helpful actually! I think the detaching and releasing the sense of ownership of the art is a huge one and I’ll definitely try that. A video on this topic would be great as well! Thank you for taking the time.
A lot of people say, “You’re your own worst critic.” It’s good to stop looking at it that way. Instead, think, “I’m my own best critic.” Seeing your errors is painful, but it’s the only way to learn. The better you get at seeing your mistakes, the faster your art will improve.
I’m not the best with color but the key with it is layering different colors. Think about the light source, the color and direction of it will help you find the hues for your image. I’m gonna make a video on color soon, stay tuned!
Hi Bijan ! Great video first off…however I’m most intrigued with how you were able to record your face and the art simultaneously….would you mind sharing what tech or application you used to do this? Thank you!
@@Bijansabeti Aha! Okay...Very well done...at one point I wanted to try the zoom record feature because in some cases you can float your image around the screen while sharing, but it only seemed to work on powerpoint stuff at the time. Good to know though, and thank you for your quick reply! Keep up the awesome content. Inspired!
This video is the "white noise" of artists.
Thank you lmfaoo
Glad to see others throwing on some smooth jazz while they’re sketching
Only way to do it hahaha
Nice sketch. It's all about putting that line down on the paper. Oh yeah, I like the soft jazz music in the background.
Glad you enjoyed!!

For a warmup this is amazing. I gotta learn how to do loose sketchings.
Just let it flow, don’t worry abt making a mistake, use a pen so u can’t erase it!!

Hey mark! I use my phone camera for my face and my Sony camera for my art, then edit in post using da Vinci pro

Never use AI to generate this but anyway, this drawing seems like blind contouring practice.
Yup, never used AI and yes this is blind contouring practice
i thought chicken lines were looked down up on or are there no principles
For me mostly anything goes, I also just don’t use the iPad enough 😂
