    This worked on my Surface Duo 1 when the lower and upper 1/4 of the screen stopped working. Thanks so much dude.

    Thank you so much for this, I've struggled with touch lag ever since I got this phone, it works so much better now!

    Yooooo!!!! This WORKED. Literally just tried it and I IMMEDIATELY saw responsiveness pick up. Even before I restarted the phone.
    Gonna have to wait to see what longtime usage looks like but so far…it’s lovely.

      I've now been doing it for two weeks and you don't need the launcher and keyboard on the list. I went back to getting 5 to 5 1/2 hour screen on by removing them and simply only adding system ui to the not optimized list.

    I have exactly the same experience you do. The surface Duo 2 is my favorite phone ever but I'm also super frustrated with it. I just applied your fix and so far it looks great, I'm not sure yet if it's working for me since I only just did it, but I am grateful for this! Even if the fix doesn't work I'm so glad there are people like you out there trying to figure this out. But, like I said so far it's way better! Thank you! I'm very hopeful that this will be the thing I need.

    Wow the difference!! Thank you so much for your advise. I love the phone. It does so much more than an iPhone but the typing was hard and lagging. Thank you for taking the time and sharing.

    I have a Duo 1 and when i saw this on scaryifliteral channel i was like "I don't feel any lag with my phone, but let's try it anyway"
    I tried your fix and i was really surprised how much lag i was experiencing without noticing it. I've clearly adapted to the lag.
    Just changing the orientation took like 1 or 2 second before the fix and like half a seconds after the fix.
    I'll have to wait and see if it affects battery life in the long run though.

    That's Not Ricardio, I feel this video has problems. Blah, blah, blah, but I fixed it. Just skip this video entirely, if you have no touch issues (SD2 touch works great for me, for example). Or go to 6:30 when he gets to his point, which might help some people. In other words, scripting isn't always bad. A little bit of scripting, to help you focus, would make your videos better in my opinion.

    One of the first things I do when I get a new android phone to also increase responsiveness is to enable developer options(tap many times on build number in about phone until a message mentions being a developer) and look for Window animation scale, Transition scale, and Animator duration scale and set those to off. That should make your phone feel much snappier as well.

    On My Duo 2 this didn't work for me. But after I did do this, I also went back in and cleared Cashe in the Microsoft and Launcher3 apps and now my duo 2's touch and scrolling response is as good as my S22 Ultra's. I went back and re-Optimized the apps referred to in this video and the issue has not reoccurred... still excellent touch response. Interesting how these fixes differ from user to user??

    Once I disabled the vibration feedback with the original Duo the typing became way better. I don't know what horrendous motor that they used, or even the digitizer but yeah definitely not the strong suit of the device.

    • @thatsnotricardio4199
      @thatsnotricardio4199  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even with the fix in the video, every five or so letters you can feel the motor hang. It is a tad longer than the other haotic feedback bit. It doesn't feel good either. Glad they got something more modern for Duo two which could be why it's so much more heavier.

    Yes, even as I type this response, touch is spot. Most times it works fine, but occasionally I have touch issues. Usually closing and reopening helps.

  • @michaelcorcoran8768
    @michaelcorcoran8768 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    My duo 1 certainly wasn't as snappy as a pixel or something, but it didn't have nearly as much frustration with the touch response as you did.
    In terms of gesture accuracy, I have really no problems at all. Now the typing is more problematic especially with SwiftKey, although I use voice typing most of the time so maybe that's why I don't get frustrated as much.
    I guess I should note though that it's never been my main phone, so maybe that's why some of it's more pressing issues don't become as apperent.
    But when I saw your montage of missed gestures and so on, I was curious. So I turned my surface duo back on and fiddled around with it and I just don't have the same issues.
    My bigger complaint about the device is just how limited the launcher is with no customized icons or resizing the app grid. If it had feature parity with the Microsoft launcher that I can use on an LG or a pixel phone I would be much happier.

      All of that said, I will fiddle with the battery optimization to see if anything changes for the better. Although I'm a little worried about battery as the standby battery has been dreadful The last few months.
      Although I don't know if this fix is applicable to both versions of the phone.

    I did try this, but I don't think it helped in my case. With that said I think my touch issues were different. They also seem to either change or went away with the "updates" every month. Glad your discovery fixed yours though.

      Just missed gestures and swipes when using the phone with speed. If I slowed down and was more deliberate and very very slow there would be no issues. I am pretty quick on the phone and had so many miss swipes and gestures. sometimes dragging items from the app drawer to the home screen wouldn't work because the phone would just stop tracking my finger. If I slowed down it worked, but this isn't a problem on Samsung phones or on iPhones. I did record this two weeks ago and since then I have tested further, and you don't need to add the keyboard and launcher as do not optimize apps. Just do system UI. The launcher is what was causing my excess battery drain. I am back to a pretty normal, for me at least, Screen on Time of 5 to 6 hours. About 8 hours if i am simply watching videos and not interacting with the device which was better than before. I watched two full movies and a bunch of Mythic Quest a couple weeks ago before I got his with the 5% warning. I was intentionally pushing it to see what it would do and it didn't disappoint.
      Edit:another really annoying thing was when scrolling through large files, the scrolling speed would not match the speed of your finger. It would lag wayy behind. And stopping would incur a lag. In my other short you can see the phone stops on a dime. I'm currently working on a video on the effects of this on the Duo 1.

    If I buy the unlocked surface duo are all the updates going to be available online to download? I really want it and I know it will have bugs but I'm confident I'll keep using it for a long time. I can't afford the surface duo 2 even tho it has better specs as the first one

    • @thatsnotricardio4199
      @thatsnotricardio4199  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it will! When you receive it, regardless of carrier, it'll update to the latest version when you connect to wifi.

      There are some benefits to the first duo. No ugly camera bump, it folds all the way back, better ergonomics. Better thermals.

    • @michaelcorcoran8768
      @michaelcorcoran8768 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I have to say I wonder if some phones have issues that other batches dont. I would never have called the duo, the smoothest phone in the world or anything, but for me the gesture navigation basically works all the time.
      But obviously that's not true for everybody, as people have had endless frustration and even switch back to button navigation.
      But for whatever reason I just don't seem to have the noticeable obstacles. And I use a pixel or a Samsung as my main device typically so it's not just that I'm used to it.
      Still, it's valuable research. Anyway to see his anecdotal experience with changing the battery optimization.
      Can't hurt to try it.

      Yeah I noticed I don't have the option for battery optimization on my Surface Duo 2. On my Surface it has Apps and Notifications separated rather than together.
      That being said when I went to the Microsoft Launcher settings, then clicked on battery, then clicked unrestricted, holy crap I immediately noticed a difference. Damn it is so immediate before I even exited the settings app I noticed a difference!

    Hi, I am from New Delhi, India. About a month back, I got a Duo 2 from UK. It's a lovely device and useful too. But both screens have a different color tone. Left is pinkish (little abnormal) and right is white. Have you experienced this? There are several comments on the internet where people are complaining. Could you get in touch with Microsoft regarding this and get them to bring a software update to solve this problem. Thanks. Chirag

    I'm like you, with friends since original duo they say is working good bla bla but when I using it is a fuck!ng dissaster especially original duo.
    Now on my duo 2 is the same but I fixed like that, I put laucher and keyboard but that kill my battery like hell and get warm, so I only put system UI and works well, hope on android 12L fixes that without loss battery.
