Innovation in design is crucial at Towson Watch Company. The Pride II tells the story of Maryland’s expertise in shipbuilding and fine watchmaking. Speaking to the rejuvenation of industry & culture in the Chesapeake Region.
The Pride is a unique and storied timepiece - named after the Pride of Baltimore II, a schooner that serves as the sailing ambassador of Baltimore to the rest of the country and world.
Towson’s watchmakers collaborated with engineers who worked on the Pride ship to produce a one-of-a-kind design. The case is made in-house, taking over two years to engineer. The lines of the case are derived from the outline of the Towson Watch Company logo. To accommodate this unusual shape, a crown in the shape of a winch serves as a nod to its maritime heritage. An image of the Pride II is etched into the stainless steel back.

Love the case design but crown location looks very forced. Ig needs to be hidden and much less prominent.

With the case being such a conversational starter in itself, making the crown serve as a little icing on the cake made sense to us. It is designed after a sailing winch, extending the nautical theme of the piece (as the case shares the same dimensions as the bow on the Pride II schooner). Towson’s Pride II is an art piece and design marvel. Communicating the inspiration behind it was prioritized over wearability, despite it being quite comfortable on the wrist. Just maybe don’t play golf with it!
