The biggest problem with Fall Guys' initial release was the SEVERE lack of content, and this went on for SEASONS even after the game "died". Mediatonic was a small company that barely ever released updates, so understandably the game got repetitive and stale very fast. However, because of Epic we're now getting weekly massive updates just like Fortnite, filled with new map variations, events, and maybe even a new level some weeks. And that's aside from the new seasons we're getting every 10 weeks. Fall Guys isn't gonna die again, at least not like last time. Epic Games saved Fall Guys.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; the game never died. It just died in the eyes of the internet. Among us and a buncha other stuff happened, leaving the fall guys community surprisingly large and peaceful without all the people who hopped on the bandwagon. In my almost 2 years of playing now I've never had trouble finding a game. Sadly, if the game you're playing isn't ruling the internet, you get bullied for playing it. It's something the community has been forced to get used to, but now, we're getting our comeback baby! So proud of Mediatonic for keeping the game ALIVE and the updates coming!
9:24 here’s the thing. There is really no way to change spectating because you have to wait for everyone else to finish regardless. Also I personally think the 3 2 1 countdown is perfect so players can figure out what is going on. I think they should take out the screen where you watch them pick the next minigame and the screen where it tells you what to do. Instead just tell us what our objective is while the camera shows the map. Overall though I am enjoying the game so much and can’t wait to see the future of it. I’m also glad we’re back on season one because I did barely play most of the seasons after season 2 lol

I’m not too mad about having to wait after a round of Fall Guys watching all the people get eliminated and watching the map get picked because that is like your time to cool off and take a break.

Best F2P game I got into. lots of people to bump into across cross-play ^_^ and I agree the complaints he made at the end didn't register for me. Thanks to crossplay, the matchmaking is always FAST, and the loading times are fine to me. The pacing is always fast and fun
Like your earlier point, the waiting times are meant to give the game show feel for people who will never learn what a game show is like. I personally like waiting times bc it lets me take a quick break
The reason I always enjoyed fall guys is that this game doesn't require any gaming skills at all in most cases. As someone who suck at every single pvp and competitive multiplayer game I really like that I'm able to win something from time to time in this game.

The spectate => loading => cutscene is not that bad in a game design perspective. - you are in a single lobby, so spectating the remaining people is the only thing you really can do to pass the time. -loading times are there because you have to change map, change mode, put players on map and add any variations to it. -cutscene is for people to get a refresher on old maps and for people to understand mechanics for new ones.

I honestly felt like all the loading really was meant to make sure everyone was on an even playing field like the pre game lobbies in other games so it never bothered me. The beans aren't dropping into a huge map but rather mutiple stages so it has to check for each player before starting. The map overview is useful as with the mutiple variation that can occur, it gives you an idea of what to prepare for. It's an online game so there wouldn't be a way to skip the waiting with all the different platforms and connections.

the devs of fall guys are extremely smart, and they didn't expect much popularity until now heres the reasoning: at first before releasing it publicly for free (and creating the now show-bucks) the game was basically in a beta, not only because it just released but because it didn't have much content. Over time, fall guys would have bunches of new games that wouldn't bring in all much attention; however, it was for good reasoning. What the developers did was that they kept updating but never released it for free until they had so many games that finding a specific one could actually be quite rare, making the variety extremely fun and vast. In addition, they had the funds to do this since the game costed $20.00 back then, and now that it is free, all the people that play the game's first impression would be, "oh this game is so fun and there are so many different minigames!!!!!" Additionally, the idea of show bucks (although 100% inspired by v bucks from fortnite because Epic Games) helps fund fall guys even more to where they can make updates even more now!!! I think this game will not officially die anymore as it is now almost impossible to get bored. good job fall guy devs (and Epic Games for helping bring all the attention back to fall guys without it going unnoticed) ALSO: sheep why u mad that the loading screen takes so long and there's a tutorial, with new updates every week, I think you're gonna need it now XDD

I just started playing today and 4 games in I had won my first crown, I’m enjoying the game so far and I agree that it being F2P would have been the only way I would have picked it up
Another part is probably doing collabs. They did one with Halo bringing new costumes, challenges, and a whole new gamemode. Then they did the Crown Clash challenges with Fortnite and Rocket League which would make players play even more fall guys to get a free skin in fortnite or get a Fallout boost for rocket league. This would make players play for hours to get cool cosmetics in their favorite game, resulting in more players.
I was a pretty active player during the explosion in 2020 and ngl during season 1, the levels GOT VERY BORING bc you'd very rarely move past the team game in the beginning and you'd keep doing the same few stages over and over, so I can totally understand why ppl moved to among us

This is a boxing match. Fall Guys knocked out Fortnite, and Among Us came out of nowhere and knocked out Fall Guys for about a year. Then after a while Among Us got old, which gave Fall Guys a chance to give a mean right hook to bring it back.
i remember when it first became super popular i played it with my friends and though “oh this is a cool game”. 2 years later they added so much and im playing and enjoying it more than i used to, i also love being able to play it on my xbox
While I am happy for the game's new success I really hate all the f2p nonsense that was stuffed into the game Show Bucks, Crowns are no longer currency, Kudos are worthless, the fame pass is super grindy with only gaining 100 xp by winning, skill based matchmaking, the steam verison got taken down, and all costumes are locked behind a $10 paywall per costume where before you could get costumes by being good and winning There is no incentive to play the game since they removed the ability to earn kudos by playing the game Not to mention all the bugs the game will fall back into irrelevance unless they fix these prices plus fix the game and all the bugs
Same here, won't be surprised if fall guys start dying again, if they don't fix these problems. Like lowering the price of showbucks or making it easier to level up the fame pass. And the stupid rank matchmaking, which i don't like. Idk if the rank system exists when your playing with friends though, cause I haven't played fall guys by myself ever since the update came out. Also people will get bored of winning games eventually, as it going to take a long time to get crown rank rewards now that crown currency is no longer a thing and cause crowns are no longer in the fame pass.
I guarantee this will not be 'fixed'. Everything you just described is the bare minimum when it comes to F2P models. Bigger franchises than Fall Guys have fallen prey to these same practices. There might eventually be tiny adjustments to make you feel like it's changed for the better, when in reality everything is still relatively much the same. They want you to spend money and with that being the core goal, every aspect of the game will find tiny, prickly ways to get you to do so.
i remember all the way back when i played fall guys as soon as it came out i was for some reason actually having fun for the entire time i played it but now fall guys has gone to just a whole new level this is just INSANE!
A few of the other comments have mentioned this - but I think a massive oversight in this video is not bringing up Epic's purchase of Mediatonic. This is quite possibly a best case scenario for a small UK-based studio; suddenly getting access to a lot more funds, the server infrastructure, and the experience they've had with bringing games like Fortnite well and truly into the mainstream. Being on all platforms and being fully cross-play, with the addition of daily, weekly and marathon challenges alongside the huge increase in map variety, as well as variations within existing maps has potentially solidifed Fall Guys as a game people will be playing for years to come.
Yeah, and I’m happy that I can finally play it. They do need to make some changes to the game so that more people will gain interest or stick around. I really hope that this game will thrive longer than it did before.

I'm glad Fall Guys has made its big return and that it made such a huge improvement on everything that I disliked about the game previously, but I have a feeling that something is gonna put the game back into its grave hopefully Fall Guys can stay alive for more than a few weeks.

I played the game during mid-late season 1, and then most of season 2. Took a break, and then periodically played during season 5 and 6. Now that I can play on Switch, I can see me playing a TON more often.
As a person who didnt have a good pc at the time and i wasn't a ps player after this update I was definitely missing out and it's super fun for right now
how they would fix the waiting issue is by: only having the intro for the minigame select showing how to play and showing the map the spectate just kinda has to exist and the part where people get thrown of should just be shown as an image meanwhile the next minigame is being selected and loaded with a text reminding that the minigame is loading
Personally, I’m hoping to see Fall Guys do some more crossovers and special events. When I first got the game after it went free, I got a costume of Enzio from Assassin’s Creed, and datamines have shown some sort of Sonic stage that we might get at some point. There’s tons of possibilities for Fall Guys crossovers in the future.
You COMPLETELY forgot to mention about the deal towards buying the entire fall guys game which was acquired by Epic Games a couple of months ago, and I feel like they are the one who revived the game because ever since the purchase fall guys have actually been doing better than before.

i don't know if this is possible, but maybe while loading into a show and when spectating, there is a mini-lobby with obstacles for practice, but you can still toggle spectate and if you die in the lobby you still respawn and stuff, getting rid of the downtime for getting to the end, along with the ideas dor the round starting downtime another idea is that when the level editor comes out, there's like a hub where you can find and search them and maybe a featuring system for good maps (like geometry dash) nevertheless, fall guys is a great game and the fact that it's been able to reach mainstream media after nearly 2 years is shocking. props to mediatonic and epic games!

I honestly felt like all the loading really was meant to make sure everyone was on an even playing field like the pre game lobbies in other games so it never bothered me. The beans aren't dropping into a huge map but rather mutiple stages so it has to check for each player before starting. The map overview is useful as with the mutiple variation that can occur, it gives you an idea of what to prepare for. It's an online game so there wouldn't be a way to skip the waiting with all the different platforms and connections.

the devs of fall guys are extremely smart, and they didn't expect much popularity until now
heres the reasoning: at first before releasing it publicly for free (and creating the now show-bucks) the game was basically in a beta, not only because it just released but because it didn't have much content. Over time, fall guys would have bunches of new games that wouldn't bring in all much attention; however, it was for good reasoning. What the developers did was that they kept updating but never released it for free until they had so many games that finding a specific one could actually be quite rare, making the variety extremely fun and vast. In addition, they had the funds to do this since the game costed $20.00 back then, and now that it is free, all the people that play the game's first impression would be, "oh this game is so fun and there are so many different minigames!!!!!" Additionally, the idea of show bucks (although 100% inspired by v bucks from fortnite because Epic Games) helps fund fall guys even more to where they can make updates even more now!!! I think this game will not officially die anymore as it is now almost impossible to get bored.
good job fall guy devs (and Epic Games for helping bring all the attention back to fall guys without it going unnoticed)

I’m really glad it’s coming back, personally, I can see the beginning era simply being a test of how people liked fall guys, and a lot of people really liked it, then it slowly died down despite really good seasons and updates, then BOOM glory days are back
so glad i decided to give the game another go after suddenly switching from obsessively playing in its early weeks to completely forgetting about it. no clue why i stopped playing it in the first place but im glad i picked it back up when i did

I didn’t really care for fall guys even when it boomed in August of 2020, but ever since the new update to make it free I played my first ever fall guys game and haven’t stopped, im now a daily fall guys player. This game is hell fun.

Another part is probably doing collabs. They did one with Halo bringing new costumes, challenges, and a whole new gamemode. Then they did the Crown Clash challenges with Fortnite and Rocket League which would make players play even more fall guys to get a free skin in fortnite or get a Fallout boost for rocket league. This would make players play for hours to get cool cosmetics in their favorite game, resulting in more players.

I was a pretty active player during the explosion in 2020 and ngl during season 1, the levels GOT VERY BORING bc you'd very rarely move past the team game in the beginning and you'd keep doing the same few stages over and over, so I can totally understand why ppl moved to among us
@@hammywoods oh I understand, it’s defiantly a thing of preference. Hell, I fell out of the game during seasons 2 and 5, which to be fair, 2 had 0 content, and 5 introduced some of the worst mini games in the whole game, and had an L battle pass.
This is a boxing match. Fall Guys knocked out Fortnite, and Among Us came out of nowhere and knocked out Fall Guys for about a year. Then after a while Among Us got old, which gave Fall Guys a chance to give a mean right hook to bring it back.
Fall guys never knocked out fortnite, they kinda just coexisted
i remember when it first became super popular i played it with my friends and though “oh this is a cool game”. 2 years later they added so much and im playing and enjoying it more than i used to, i also love being able to play it on my xbox

Show Bucks, Crowns are no longer currency, Kudos are worthless, the fame pass is super grindy with only gaining 100 xp by winning, skill based matchmaking, the steam verison got taken down, and all costumes are locked behind a $10 paywall per costume where before you could get costumes by being good and winning
There is no incentive to play the game since they removed the ability to earn kudos by playing the game
Not to mention all the bugs
the game will fall back into irrelevance unless they fix these prices plus fix the game and all the bugs

Same here, won't be surprised if fall guys start dying again, if they don't fix these problems. Like lowering the price of showbucks or making it easier to level up the fame pass. And the stupid rank matchmaking, which i don't like.
Idk if the rank system exists when your playing with friends though, cause I haven't played fall guys by myself ever since the update came out. Also people will get bored of winning games eventually, as it going to take a long time to get crown rank rewards now that crown currency is no longer a thing and cause crowns are no longer in the fame pass.
I guarantee this will not be 'fixed'. Everything you just described is the bare minimum when it comes to F2P models. Bigger franchises than Fall Guys have fallen prey to these same practices. There might eventually be tiny adjustments to make you feel like it's changed for the better, when in reality everything is still relatively much the same.
They want you to spend money and with that being the core goal, every aspect of the game will find tiny, prickly ways to get you to do so.

A few of the other comments have mentioned this - but I think a massive oversight in this video is not bringing up Epic's purchase of Mediatonic. This is quite possibly a best case scenario for a small UK-based studio; suddenly getting access to a lot more funds, the server infrastructure, and the experience they've had with bringing games like Fortnite well and truly into the mainstream. Being on all platforms and being fully cross-play, with the addition of daily, weekly and marathon challenges alongside the huge increase in map variety, as well as variations within existing maps has potentially solidifed Fall Guys as a game people will be playing for years to come.

I'm glad Fall Guys has made its big return and that it made such a huge improvement on everything that I disliked about the game previously, but I have a feeling that something is gonna put the game back into its grave hopefully Fall Guys can stay alive for more than a few weeks.
I mean, the delicious last course is coming out today at the time of typing this, so I'd imagine most big boy content creators are gonna come back to Cuphead.

I played the game during mid-late season 1, and then most of season 2. Took a break, and then periodically played during season 5 and 6. Now that I can play on Switch, I can see me playing a TON more often.

As a person who didnt have a good pc at the time and i wasn't a ps player after this update I was definitely missing out and it's super fun for right now
how they would fix the waiting issue is by:
only having the intro for the minigame select showing how to play and showing the map
the spectate just kinda has to exist
and the part where people get thrown of should just be shown as an image meanwhile the next minigame is being selected and loaded with a text reminding that the minigame is loading

Personally, I’m hoping to see Fall Guys do some more crossovers and special events. When I first got the game after it went free, I got a costume of Enzio from Assassin’s Creed, and datamines have shown some sort of Sonic stage that we might get at some point. There’s tons of possibilities for Fall Guys crossovers in the future.

You COMPLETELY forgot to mention about the deal towards buying the entire fall guys game which was acquired by Epic Games a couple of months ago, and I feel like they are the one who revived the game because ever since the purchase fall guys have actually been doing better than before.
Forgot to mention, Epic Games are the ones who made fall guys free to play on ALL major platforms.
Good video but you have to relise that calling fall guys a "kids game" makes you sound like the only game for people over 9 is something like cod and its quite annoying

I played it for the first time yesterday. By far the highlight of my day. By dumb luck I got a victory on my first round!
i don't know if this is possible, but maybe while loading into a show and when spectating, there is a mini-lobby with obstacles for practice, but you can still toggle spectate and if you die in the lobby you still respawn and stuff, getting rid of the downtime for getting to the end, along with the ideas dor the round starting downtime
another idea is that when the level editor comes out, there's like a hub where you can find and search them and maybe a featuring system for good maps (like geometry dash)
nevertheless, fall guys is a great game and the fact that it's been able to reach mainstream media after nearly 2 years is shocking. props to mediatonic and epic games!
