And it really kills me when folks say these artists don't know the industry, they should take courses in this that and the third....because for one, you're not going to know the industry until you're in it....secondly, alot of these artists come from extremely humble beginnings. I've worked in the music industry for over 25 years and got stung on a publishing company that even though they are no longer in existence, still collect on my royalties and I never see a penny of it. I know how that feels to get screwed over by corporate contracts.

@@missblak00 I do, but I don’t have a record label any more or have a publisher. I press my own albums and am registered with PRS in the UK so the money comes back to me directly . The only set back is that it’s hard to get recognition in the mainstream and you have to really work hard to do your own publicity. We've done pretty well so far as we have a lot of fans within our music genre, but it would be really nice to get a 'big break' even just for a year.

I actually came across her thru a mutual friend in 2013...she lived in North Providence at the time (SHES from Rhode Island) sharing/renting a house with a gay male friend. She was chill and we hung out a few times but she definitely was taken advantage of. She was clearly not okay, and without going into “snitch” mode or expose her more than she has been, it was evident she wasn’t okay. We went out about 4-5 times, including a house party, I wouldn’t normally go to or expect her to go to, it was in the hood, in other words (South Providence). We went to dinner and also just chilled at her spot, a normal sized cape. I didn’t get into the whole career as I didn’t see her much more than just a normal female. I felt bad but she was a good vibe...with a side of hard life. I’d have to go to her or pick her up cause she didn’t have a car at the time. During that time she was taking About a guy in CA who was trying to get her back on the scene etc. Anyways I ended up getting a sketchy phone call a few months later (how they got my number i have no idea) but they were asking for her whereabouts and I just simply told them I basically stopped contact with her. That was a crazy period of time for any artist let alone an up and coming female. I wish they would just let it go. She was down to earth and fell for that industry. I hope she’s doing well and wishing her the absolute best. I can’t imagine rising so fast and falling even faster. Talented but I’m positive she was taken advantage of. I did enjoy the time we chilled and talked. It just wasn’t the friendship I wanted to keep up at the time, I was going thru my own. Sending her peace and love in the interim.

@@missblak00 I do, but I don’t have a record label any more or have a publisher. I press my own albums and am registered with PRS in the UK so the money comes back to me directly . The only set back is that it’s hard to get recognition in the mainstream and you have to really work hard to do your own publicity. We've done pretty well so far as we have a lot of fans within our music genre, but it would be really nice to get a 'big break' even just for a year.

I know some say Bey did that to Amerie but Bey worked with Rich Harrison on "crazy in love", before Amerie recorded "this one thing". In fact, Tony Braxton recorded her gogo style song "take this ring", prior to Amerie's "this one thing". It was Jlo that specifically tried to take "this one thing" from Amerie. Come on man.... Its well known that Jay-z is a sleezeball. Himself and Beyonce being together is like an arranged marriage because of their statuses within the industry. They need each other for the fame and fortune. Hence why they stayed together. It wouldn't surprise me if that away from the cameras they hardly touch each other and sleep in separate bedrooms etc.

I actually came across her thru a mutual friend in 2013...she lived in North Providence at the time (SHES from Rhode Island) sharing/renting a house with a gay male friend. She was chill and we hung out a few times but she definitely was taken advantage of. She was clearly not okay, and without going into “snitch” mode or expose her more than she has been, it was evident she wasn’t okay. We went out about 4-5 times, including a house party, I wouldn’t normally go to or expect her to go to, it was in the hood, in other words (South Providence). We went to dinner and also just chilled at her spot, a normal sized cape. I didn’t get into the whole career as I didn’t see her much more than just a normal female. I felt bad but she was a good vibe...with a side of hard life. I’d have to go to her or pick her up cause she didn’t have a car at the time. During that time she was taking About a guy in CA who was trying to get her back on the scene etc.
Anyways I ended up getting a sketchy phone call a few months later (how they got my number i have no idea) but they were asking for her whereabouts and I just simply told them I basically stopped contact with her.
That was a crazy period of time for any artist let alone an up and coming female. I wish they would just let it go. She was down to earth and fell for that industry. I hope she’s doing well and wishing her the absolute best. I can’t imagine rising so fast and falling even faster. Talented but I’m positive she was taken advantage of. I did enjoy the time we chilled and talked. It just wasn’t the friendship I wanted to keep up at the time, I was going thru my own. Sending her peace and love in the interim.
