Was on a great beach with my better half in Hawaii when she yelped "oh my" and I looked around toward the sea and there in the distance looked what seemed to be a young girl, tiny compared to the huge wave that was about to engulf her. Reactive instinct caused me to jump up and start running towards her, then down the beach in the direction she was moving. I was at my top speed for about a hundred yards, loosing ground fast before I realized she was in total control, then I just stood there in amazement as she rode it out. I went back and sat down to enjoy the rest of my day with a great adrenalin rush, and not long after the girl came bye and offered her thanks for what I had tried to do...and she wasn't a young girl, she was a beautiful young lady of about 4' 9" and the body of an athlete with a great disposition and ask us to go with her for a drink, her and my wife have been friends ever since, that was fourteen years ago and she goes to Hawaii every year to visit. It was afterwards in the bar that I found out that there are almost always people on the beaches there that look after one another and knows most everyone, so the jokes were on me as I was the only one busting his butt for no reason, but I got reasonably intoxicated and it cost me nothing.

Great Edit as always mixing in the waves, the surfers, the beach, the dawgs! I just got two new Sheep dogs this week so I'm jazzed by the great dog life there too.

Although I much prefer to watch the ladies doing it, I don't care if it's girls or guys.., I've always been intrigued watching people riding the waves surfing, the ability to stand and ride is pretty freakin' awesome. Water skiing is cool too, but not having to hear a motor running, only the sound of the waves is so relaxing.

I don't know jack about surfing but when did long boards and board walking make a comeback? I thought those went out with the 60s.
