    THANK YOU.... JUST WHAT I NEEDED.... We have cool temps starting NOW and just got my herbicide delivered. Has been in the 90's for weeks but we have some "cooler" weather coming. Starting today and for the rest of the week it will be in the high 70's to low 80's. I am going to hit early morning, low wind, coolest temps of the day. It will be a cool (high 70's low 80;s for several days). I will spot spray.
    I am using Tenacity which I used once before with good results but need a second round. I am adding Q4, and will spot spray for lawn. I also have Gordons Ornamec 170 (for grassy weeds taking over area where I planted ground cover and was bare otherwise. Can't wait to see how that works out. I tried pulling weeds and that was a nightmare.

    I've been doing homework for the last three nights, watching your videos and taking notes. I like that you live near CO and seem to deal with a lot of the same issues we face. We landscaped our backyard this year and planted our grass from seed. Followed all the directions, watered as directed, stayed off the lawn for 5-6 weeks, and watched a ton of weeds come up with our new grass. We were told this is normal. We continued to care for the lawn and problem got worse. Finally stumbled across someone who actually knows what they're talking about and has proof to back up his words (so wish we had come across your videos in April). We saw in one of your videos where you visited someone for their bday and told them with new grass they shouldn't use pesticides but would have to pull weeds by hand. So I've spent the last few days pulling the weeds. What video do I watch to see what to do next? It's fall and I don't want to ruin the grass that has survived, but definitely have only half a lawn. Please help!

    • @pestandlawnginja
      @pestandlawnginja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tammy! Great to hear you're out there slaying that lawn. I recommend using herbicides when you get about 12 weeks out from the seeding. in the meantime if it's getting overwhelming you can use tenacity after 6 weeks. I recommend holding off on that if you can.
      I would focus on your watering practices. make sure you do a water output cup test and prove your water coverage and figure out your water output per station so you don't over water or under water each area. see and perform the video exercise at the end of the page at myallgreen.com/watering

    Ahh so I was aware of not spraying at high temps, but was not aware that weeds become more resistant to herbicide during the heat. Oh I almost choked after seeing that huge lawn being watered with sprinklers! We are so severely dry in the West (I'm Sierra Foothills) it is unheard of and we are only watering trees. Besides the fire risk, many folks have switched to drip after removing their lawn altogether. Until water becomes exorbitant and untenable will we all convert. It would be nice to see some endorsement of this idea in your excellent videos.

    Getting ready to reno my yard, I sprayed everything with 41% glyphosate about 4 days ago now. I am planning on reseeding next month, so I wanted to give it plenty of time to kill off the grass and weeds. However I am not seeing any effect so far, it has been hot 80's - 90's and no rain, should I water to get it moving (I don't have an irrigation system so I have to use above ground sprinklers) , should I spray again?

    • @pestandlawnginja
      @pestandlawnginja  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It can take up 7 to 10 days2 before the glyphosate will commonly show signs of killing the weed. I do recommend either 2 treatments of glyphosate spread 2 weeks apart. Then 2 weeks later you can do a tenacity treatment and drop the seed, assuming your planting a cool season grass

Yes it is a cool season, I am redoing my yard with a TTTF.I was concerned because usually the grass will show signs before the weeds do.

    Thanks!

    • @pestandlawnginja
      @pestandlawnginja  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      for the most part my suggestion is to design or have a master plan of what you want in a landscape setup first. ie. where the trees are going to go, curbing, flowers etc.. determine the areas you want grass for the long run. then use landscape paint, draw it out in the area. then determine what heads you want. rainbird, hunter, impact etc... most companies have a tool you can use to map out sprinkler head placement by uploading design schematics on there apps. pretty cool in my opinion. at the end of the day proper overlap will account for 90% of your success in having a great lawn. fantastic question.
      If you reach out to a sprinkler technician ask them how they can ensure you that overlap will be proper. This is achieved by doing a water output cup test. super simple. see myallgreen.com/watering and look at the video at the end of the page for a reference.

    Question: I just have dirt. Been pulling by hand. The storm (in summer in California?!😮) brought more weeds where there were none! BUT, weeds did not come back where I pulled by hand. It's a large area and I'm tired. I want to know, if I use pesticide and kill the weeds...should I then pull by hand? How do you get rid of a large area (no grass at all) of dead weeds? I'm afraid if I rototill, hit it with a shovel or hoe, that I'll spread some of the weed again...and I don't wanna have to deal with a large piece like this again. I'm tired! So should I just pull by hand once I hit it with herbicide? Please help😊

    Hey Ginja, I just sprayed Tenacity on my lawn for the first time (in CT) to try to get rid of crabgrass and other weeds prior to core aeration and overseeding next week. I pretty much had to spray the whole lawn (10K sq ft) due to the amount of crabgrass I had. However.......when I was done I realized that I only spread it at half dose. I misread the syringe - DUH. So......what d you think I should do ? Wait until two weeks have passed and see what happens before re-applying ? I don't want to push back my overseeding as I will have leaves to deal with soon - lots of leaves - and I don't want to mulch or bag if I have seedlings from my overseeding.

    • @pestandlawnginja

    • @pestandlawnginja
      @pestandlawnginja  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a fantastic question. There are not a lot of granular labels that will specifically tell you. Not a lot of difference other than the granular you should wet the grass slightly before the application and most products will want you to water it in directly. the water will change the soil temps and the blae stress so you may get away with doing it while its hotter.
