I'm your host, Darren Van Dam!

Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

Loved what Happened to Monday. Didn't even realize it was a Netflix original.
Wow, you finally added chapters! Thank you!
Glad to see Spectral on your list.
@@jakewarren74 I thought being the only tuber (I know of) who lists the movies in the top pinned comment was "chapters" enough for me. But if it makes the viewing experience easier then 'The Van Dam abides.'
Darren Sir, if I may be a greedy, ungrateful, & lazy internet consumer & throw a vote behind adding the year each film came out in parentheses next to the films in the TPC. When I listen to vids like yours & think about films in general, the year is a big part of how I catalog them in my head. I often find myself switching between your vid & the imdb app & it's somewhat distracting. Not a big deal to me either way as I said above listing them at all is amazingly convenient. I'm gonna watch your vids either way.
If adding myself to the list of ppl asking for this (it could be a list of one!) helps with how you make UI decisions on your channel then I hope this positive feedback helps.
All quiet on the western front was both devastating and great. Great pick for the top spot.
That was a great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. The ones I’ve rewatched happily have been:- Extraction, The Ritual, The Harder They Fall, Polar, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, The Night Comes For Us, The Killer and All Quiet on The Western Front.
Many thanks for sharing with us. Appreciate it and enjoyed 👍👍👍
What Happened to Monday is agreat movie and very clever premise. The actress is so talented
I agree, I really enjoyed that one
I fully concur with “What happened to Monday”. I watched it several months ago, and I was totally taken by it. Excellent excellent flick.
Damn straight - it was a belter
Triple Frontier was better than I thought it was going to be.
OMG yes! The Ritual was phenomenal!!!
Buster Scruggs was so freaking great! I didn't like one of the stories, but yeah, it's top tier.
Love love love Dolemite is My Name. Eddie Murphy was hilarious, and it was great to see Da’Vine Joy Randolph before all the praise she is getting now for The Holdovers.
Noomi is amazing. The Swedish, girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy is one of my all time favs. You have to try to find and watch the extended versions of all three. They are so so so excellent!! Don’t forget, extended versions!! Worth it. You’re welcome
Quite the Babe!
Thanks for great lists and your careful duration with time indexed links of your content. Few others take such care in publishing videos on TH-cam. Big thumbs up!!
Thank you! Great list, watched most of them already but not all.
Great list! Setting up to watch some tonite!
I’ve watched Polar more times than I care to count and it’s gets better with each watch. I’m still hopeful for a part 2.
They Cloned Tyrone. Most slept on Netflix film ever
Loved it!
X-Files + Pootie Tang
I didn’t sleep on it. I loved every second.
Awesome flick loved it.
I didn’t make it twenty minutes
I have special affection for The Highwaymen. I spent 3 days in a hospital in Mexico with ecoli. I barely speak Spanish and was on my own most of the time and I spent my whole time watching Netflix and The Highwaymen was a highlight.
Once again, youve given us some great recommendations! Thanks!
Excellent set of reviews. Several I will now be watching. Thanks and keep up your excellent work
How was The Old Guard not on the list? Think I watch it like every other week. Can wait for the sequel!
Is there going to be a sequel?
Watched this based on your suggestion and this movie is the most fun action movie in a long time.
Thanks for the recommendation boutta watch it now.
OK. Good list D.V.D. There are some things on this list that I have not seen. I will check them out this weekend. I don't remember what I did before Flick Connection.
Thanks for the recommendations, loved What happened to Monday.
Good list. I've seen many of them on your recommendation. Polar, Spectral and The Platform highlight my list. Just can't get there with you on Killer. Maybe I'll start it again with a fresh outlook. "All Quiet..." is a very good remake. The 1979 version starring Richard Thomas (Walton's "John Boy") is exceptional. Thanks!
i think im going to try watch all these movies. Only seen Extraction. Nice list!!.thanks!!
Wasn't The Old Guard a Netflix original? It was awesome!
To my mind, that movie didn't get the love it deserved.
It has interesting ideas but so generic movie and wasted potential with many stupid stuff like woke agenda, girl boss shit and all, making the movie completly forget about all its plot and all and went pretty much only for for over susbstance
Thank you! Can't wait to see many of these.
you do a great job with these lists.
Thank you SO much for this! Great choice👌
Great reviews and recommendations as usual DVD!
this is exactly the list I was looking for, sometimes the good stuff is hard to find
I’ve watched quite a few of these and “The Ritual” is my all time favorite. I’ll have to read the book.
I like your recommendations!
I cannot wait to start watching the movies on Netflix!
Well done!
That was the best review ever, I will be rewatching at least half of them. Well done mate.
I really needed this. I never know what to watch. This should keep me busy for a while.
I'm so glad you mentioned Spectral and What Happened to Monday! Two very underrated films that I've really enjoyed.
I Care a Lot was great! The Old Guard with Charlize Theron was also a good Netflix original.
Great channel that is so appreciated. Thanks for the this. Nothing worst than sitting around scrolling through bad movies for something to watch.
Can't tell you how many of these I've also rewatched!
Such a solid list. I have seen a few but others I have not and I may need to check out.
omg! I can't stop laughing at your print with Cage. His face is just something haha :))) Thx for the video!
Agreed - They were fantastic in The Highwaymen
speaking is so clear and voice tone is so good ^
another great set of recommendations! One of my favorite channels on TH-cam. I'll add that I'm a huge Coen Brothers fan, and to me The Ballad of Buster Scruggs was a Top 5 or even Top 3 Coen Bros. flick. Eminently re-watchable.
thank you for giving my mind relax and carefree time, tried other recomendations vids but DVD dude is def the best one.
Polar and Triple Frontier are the two I watched twice. Both great movies imo. Going to watch The Perfection and The Night Comes for us.
I've been recommending The Perfection since it came out. I was so good and surprised me with the twists- I don't surprise easily.
Totally agree on the movies I've seen, stoked to try out the few I haven't. I don't always agree but you've been pretty consistent for my tastes. Good job, mate. Keep 'em coming!
Added note: It would be helpful if you made some note which movies are in non-English languages. It's not that I don't watch subbed/dubbed movies, but I really need to be in the mood. They just take a little more effort to watch and sometimes it bums me out when I get super relaxed and ready to veg out to a new movie only to find out I need to exert extra mental energy reading subs. And a low quality dub just ruins everything. Just a quick mention would do.
😊 I am the opposite, I search for non American movies. Being European from an eu country that does not dub anything makes it easier. In fact I refuse to watch anything that is dubbed, it is so extremely off putting to me… I recommend Scandinavian movies, they are so interesting and different… love them…anything British too!
I only speak two languages however I seek out many movies that are subbed because most of the time they are very well done.
I wish you did more tv show/series recemendations as well as moviez it would be great
I've only seen The night comes for us off this list (fantastic movie) but I'm definitely adding some of these to my watchlist.
Good picks Rob👍
Your top 2, Darren, hit it out of the park. I can't compare them to any other films - they stand alone. Thanks for reminding me. You're the best!
The ritual is absolutely re-watchable. I watched it alone and then a year later I watched it with my partner who had never seen it. I just couldn't wait to see his face as a certain scene played out. He was quite vocal. 😂😂😂
Wonderful!
Darren, how many movies do you watch daily?
Great picks.. All Quiet on the Western Front.. is one of my recent favorites
Thanks so much for the Spectral recco. Really enjoyed it. No bovine excrement, just a decent action film.
I love Naomi RaPace. What an actress 👏 🙌 ❤️
Noomi Rapace
(You probably got autocorrected, it changed it at first when I wrote Noomi too)
Pretty good line up. With movies I liked, Im completely with you. Especially Alls Quiet! As a war vet i literally cried watching that!
spectral is a guilty pleasure of mine. whenever i don't know what to watch, i put it on. it's so good.
I have two movies where I sat back and marveled at their near perfect construction, Amélie and Limitless.
I have watched spectral at least 10 times, one of my all time favorites.
I 2nd “the package”, stumbled across it awhile ago and laughed a lot
The Ritual is soooo good, the abandoned cabin scene is creepy as hell....
Being in the dark woods is kinda creepy all the while facing something or someone unknown.
Really? hell no@@TheCybertiger9
I would also recommend 6 Underground. That was pretty awesome
Yep, a fun movie.
Great work, Darren. I always get at least one gem that I love from every list. Thrilled to hear there may be a sequel to Polar. Super under-rated action flick!
the Battle of Buster Scruggs was fabulous. Love everything the Coen Brothers make.
Actually agree with most everything on this list, there are a few i have never heard of and will check out.
undergroud 6 is the movie I watch the most. but great list I have some new movies to watch
Hey Darren you ever consider reviewing series? Just a thought but you get more watch time with bingeing right? Love your channel
Love this channel.
The setup of The Platform reminds me a lot of Denis Villeneuve's short film, Next Floor (2008).
Solid list.
1) My personal favorites: Extraction, Spectral, What Happened to Monday, Dolemite is My Name, Polar
2) Have to watch: I Care A Lot, The Platform, The Highway Men, The Killer,
Thanks..I had grown tired of waiting for new action/comedy flicks and trying to finish of bunch of series..I had forgotten most of the good ones and haven't seen some of them..
Love the shirt.
Seen all of these except two--and I think you have made a pretty fine list as they are all bangers for the reasons you state. But how the heck have I not watched Polar and The Platform yet? Its not like you haven't recommended them before...more than once! Maybe this weekend. Thanks.
Saw
You deserve to have a successful channel. You really put a lot of effort into your videos. 👍
The Night Comes for Us blew me away! Incredible movie!!!!
The killer was excellent IMO. Michael Fassbender did not disappoint me with a superb performance.
Going to watch "The Killer" right NOW!
Thanks bud!! 👍💯
I'm being a bit bias with The Killer, because I love the soundtrack. The Smiths are one of my favorite top 3 bands of all time
*biased, not bias
Oops I was unsober Hahaha
The ritual was great
Polar was a nice surprise. I really hope they get to that sequel
All quiet on the western front is superb
@DarrenVanDam is killing it with the thumbnails lately. 🤟
Name of the model in thumbnail?
Would love to see FC do reviews of premium series.
Luvd "The platform!"
I just re-watched Extraction last night followed by another great action movie The Grey Man,
2 of my favorite NOs
Gray Man sucks
Is the shot used in the thumbnail from Ballerina or if not what movie... doesn't seem to be any of the movies on the list!
A really great list. And over the years, I think youve built up a great reputation
Darren Van Dam has earned my trust.
When he suggests a movie to watch that you haven’t seen, 99 times out of 100 he’s correct. You should watch it .
Great work sir .
Oh yeah, the night comes for us is incredibly violent and well choreographed.
The Harder They Fall, is by far the best Western I've seen in a long time, other than the Coen Bros little short movie collection they did a few years ago.
(Edit: As always, still one of the more useful channels I'm subscribed to, thanks man!)
On the dark side of the moon is a very good flick also.
To be honest I like the second Extraction more than the first! The prison break one-shot scene with the helicopters on the train is INCREDIBLE! The only scenes I loved as much was from John Wick 4, the eagle eye view fight in the apartment and the drug raid from True Detective Season 1.
EDIT: Kostas Gavras is my uncle and Romain (his son, who directed Athena) is my (dah) second cousin, Im happy you included the movie on your list!
Athena was great.
I care a lot is also good, but wow. So effed up. Fun watch!
What happened to Monday? Great, great movie! What an interesting concept, also really effed! LOL.
Love your channel, watch your recs all the time. Keep’em coming!
"The Killer" was the best thing that I've seen in a long while! I've watched it three times now and it keeps getting better and I'm finding stuff that I didn't pick up on previously. Great list man, thanks!
I've never seen it but I will now.
This is a really fantastic list of flicks, DVD! And, i have to say that Polar is my go-to rewatch. I think I watch it at least 4-5 times a year since it released. I will be first in line for the sequel if it does ever get made and released. And, of course, Mads is phenomenal in anything he does. And, to be honest, this was my first real intorduction to Vanessa Hudgens and I thought she really held her own next to the man, himself. 🙂
I finally watched Gerald's Game because of this, and I DID NOT regret it! 9/10, would rewatch if I were the type to ever rewatch anything 😅
The Harder They Fall and Polar are both awesome movies, thoroughly rewatchable. The Platform surprised the hell out of me; I started watching out of boredom but really got hooked. Extraction was damned good, too.
where can i get the shirt?
So, um, you know, which movie did the thumbnail come from?
The package was a good comedy that I enjoyed, it reminded me of those raunchy 90s movies but what made it good was it had heart. For me raunchy movies always work when they have heart
Triple Frontier was pretty good. Very rewatchable for sure.
Great film
I’ve seen every movie on this list (but Athena, need to see that). Definitely agree with all the suggestions…except the perfection. That was super weird. The rest of the list is perfect. 👏👏👏
You reminded me that the movie What Happened to Monday was a Netflix original… I need to watch that again! Recently saw Noomi in “Lamb” and that was a wonderful, creepy flick- check it out
I was a big fan of the Netflix "Extinction " movie with Michael pena. It seems like your traditional alien invasion movie but it has it's own twist to the story, don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it.
"The Package" was an accidental watch we had but enjoyed it tremendously. Just provides good laugh.
Excellent HIGHWAYMAN
Best of Costner and best story on robbers!
Good list
