Why can't we use the Precision Base Plate with the Big Shot Plus? and how are supposed to cut the Thinlits properly with out it? I've tried to cut them up and nothing works, also I think I overload the machine a little and then the machine can´t cut the same...please some advice to know what´s happening and what to do? By the way my Big Shot Plus is also new. Thanks
Same exact situation for me! Very frustrating! Especially because I bought the Precision Base Plate thinking that this would work to cut the intricate dies but so far, it has not worked well. Sizzix claims that the Big Shot PLUS does everything the regular Big Shot does PLUS it has a larger opening; but if you cannot use the Precision Base Plate in it to get intricate cuts, then that does not seem correct. Unfortunately, they seem to post these videos but never check back to see customers’ responses to them. If they did, they could at least provide us some answers.
This video would have been so helpful if the demonstrator had SHOWED us exactly what dies not to use rather than just mentioning them. I had no idea which of them were which--and I'd never heard of a triplet for sure. Personally, I had to look each one up on Google and I still can't recognize the difference between a Thinlet die (which is okay to use with the plate) versus the Framelit die (which is NOT okay to use with the plate); in fact, they are both described as "wafer-thin" dies. I think the best solution for me so I don't destroy my investment in dies is to toss the plate altogether and forget about it. Especially since I remove my dies from their packaging and store them on a magnetic wall; I have no idea if their packaging described them as a Thinlet or a Framelit.
I agree. Not to mention if you dare buy off-brand dies, they won’t be described as Thinlit, triplet, etc., since those are trademarked names that only Sizzix can use.
You are saying the PBP isn't needed with the Big Shot Plus, but I can't get my intricate dies to cut properly. I have even turned them and moved them. They still won't completely cut. Help!!!!
Same here. I think they need to make one for the Big Shot Plus. I’m disappointed. Some of the intricate design comes out correctly but certain parts of it do not.
@@Danielle-nz9tn What have you ended up using for your Big Shot Plus? I've decided to get the Plus but for my older machine I am purchasing the PBP, if I have it and the new machine doesn't do as it should then I may have to take my chances. machine
Will the plates warp less with the chrome plate as opposed to the precision base plate. Every time I use the precision base plate it not only bends my other plate but stretches it as well so I can't get it back to it's normal shape. I'm hoping the chrome plate may be a fix for this.
What if I use the CHROME plate with my normal dies, those who are not Intricate? Will this plate damage my normal dies? I like the fact that it does not leave mark in the chrome plate, so I was wondering to skip the clear plate as a cutting plate, and instead use this chrome plate with all my dies. Is that a bad idea?
I too purchased the PBP with the Big Shot Plus. Way too much confusing info out there. Disappointed, what else do I have that I can't use and what do I need???
Same! When I purchased it on Amazon, nowhere did it say that it didn’t work for the Big Shot PLUS. Only when I saw the size did I think “maybe I got the wrong size?” Then I looked into it, and it said that it was NOT for use with the PLUS machine and that it could damage the machine. Unfortunately, my PLUS machine has not been able to cut some off-brand intricate dies (ThinLits type). Maybe it is the quality of the dies, but I read another Amazon reviewer who said they were able to successfully cut with these same dies if they used the Chrome Precision Base Plate. That is the whole reason I bought it, but now it won’t work on my machine. I will keep trying, but I hope I didn’t just waste money on the dies. Does anyone know if some card stocks just might not work well for die cutting? I am using Recollections card stock with these intricate dies. I don’t think it’s the paper because part of the dies cut through & other parts did not.
Hello, thanks for sharing this video, i just bought an older style of this brand called the Accucut Zip' eMATE, It is still brand new, but I am having many issues i've had it a few days & still can't figure out how to use it, i've used different machines, so i'm familiar with die cutters & embossing machines, but never had an older design like this one, i have the instructions & have followed them to a (T), I have the Zip' eMate with the item # as 2500420, it has it listed as i'd need to use a release foam over the blades for the very first time using the die cutter, i can't locate anything like this adhesive backed release foam anywhere, so i thought i'd do embossing instead & i put in the white platform 1st, then my folder with 1 cardstock inside, then as instructed i put on the black foam mat, it said not to use the embossing mat, i then tried to get it thru my machine by using the handle & it just wouldn't budge an inch, could you please tell me, what am i doing wrong, i'd appreciate any help at all from anyone here, thanks for taking time in reading this & stay safe.
I have a Plus machine and I don't get a good cut at all. I am comparing it with my Cuttlebug which will cut any intricate die on a first run. I am disappointed with the results and I have therefore bought a precision base plate. I am not sure why I should not use it with my Plus as nobody has given an explanation at all as to why I shouldn't use it. Are you just using scare tactics like people did when the metal shim came out? I am truly disappointed in the large amount of money I paid for the machine when I can really only use it for framelits. Also turning the die around or cutting backwards and forwards is not often an option with some mediums and papers as it moves and gives a bad cut. I hope you can help me or at least explain why I cannot use it in my Plus machine. Thanks
@@Danielle-nz9tn I use a Couture Creations Magnetic plate and a small plate and the pink shim with the base plate and the large ""B" plate. I don't cut big items often but the smaller ones come out great when I cut into the magnetic plate. It is designed for this purpose
I havent seen Sizzix reply to any of these concerns. I was considering buying the base plate but I have the same questions as these other customers have. It would be very much appreciated if you (Sizzix) could reply and help your customers understand the base plate and dies to use for them. Another question I have is that does the base plate cut in one passing or not? Also, does the illustration on the BP show how to differentiate the dies to use on it? Please respond. Thank you!
Hi Jules. Apologies for the delay in response. Yes the base plate will cut in one passing and is compatible only with Thinlits dies. If you need further help our Customer Services team will be more than happy to talk you through it. You can reach them on www.sizzix.com/contact
the presicion plate should not be used with the Vagabond, the pressure is already great enough, I have bent several dies doing so .It's good to use it with the big shot. No one told me , when shopping for any big item like a die cutting machine I realize there is just too much confusing info. on some of these videos by some people who are misinformed themselves.
Michelle Regis I just bought a vagabond and tim holtz uses the pbp on his vagabond. My problem is when i try to use a thinlit die using the platform that came with the vagabond then the pbp then cardstock then die then cutting plate the vagabond will not pull it thru because there is a gap like i need to add something else but another cutting plate is too much. Any help? There is no info out there on the vagabond. Thanks

Not true with the Big Shot Plus. I have to put up to 3 typewriter paper or a thin piece of chipboard.
i too wish i had known all the details of using this plate. i now have several warped dies as well as a warped PBP.

Don't use magnetic platform with plate -right? Thank you.
Does it cut into that then you have slivers if metal?

Hi Leena, you can use the precision base plate with any thin dies, but not Bigz dies. We hope this helps!

It say right on the plate DO NOT USE WITH BIG SHOT, FOLDAWAY OR BIG SHOT PLUS.
