I kinda love that for tony's final suit they used the classic color scheme, and added the bulkiness of the older suits while still making it nanotech. A nice final suit for THE most legendary character Marvel has made

I think you may want to consider Tony's condition in Endgame. He was a lot thinner and started to show his age. The Headsculpt that came with the 85 shows that. The mk50 Headsculpt looks too young for that movie and suit.

they said they will give us a different head sculpt, they didn't say it was the old MK50 one. from the picture they shared on their page, it will be the second prototype they showed
1) Awesome they included the nano gauntlet instead of keeping it as a BD exclusive 2) Damn near perfect figure, it is a figure after all, not a statue, there have to be some gaps 3) You make an excellent point about swapping out the sculpts, now the collector in me wishes I would be getting the O.G. one as a collector item, as I too have the Mk 50 already
The headsculpt is fine, and faithful to the endgame version coz the man lost so much weight and looks older since infinity war. What were people expecting??? An iron man 1 movie version of Tony stark lol? A superior mk50 but it's not representative of the ENDGAME Tony Stark!
Great review of an amazingly gorgeous Iron man suit! I think it’s definitely one of the best die cast suits. I actually didn’t mind the head sculpt as I always view these figures as artistic expressions and I’m still amazed at how talented these sculptures are! The hate that was spewed was awful to see. The prototype was really good but we all know should know it might be slightly better or worse by now. I’m ok with either head sculpt because it’s Ironman the HS is a bonus accessory . The tech suit Tony Stark is the head sculpt I care about being on point. But even if it’s not, if I don’t like it, I won’t get it. It’s as simple as that, not everyone is going to like every release. We all have different tastes and likes, to each his own. Glad Hot Toys made an announcement to acknowledge the community which is a testament to the type of care they have for us and their products. 👍🏽 I might need to purchase the HK version just to show support to the artist that probably feels awful with all this flak regarding their artistic expression of RDJ. The 85 actually combines nanotechnology with solid tech to create a physically stronger version of the 50. Where the 50 was made from completely nanotechnology in a fluid matter the 85 is much more advanced able to create the separated armor plating and exoskeleton underneath the fluid nanotech making it more solid while still being as versatile in weaponry
Maybe the head is supposed to be representing after he's rescued with Nebula and not in such good health? It would probably work real well for that especially if the shadows were a bit more exaggerated.
I have absolutely no problem with the headsculpt. I have no plans to get the figure, but if I did i'd be thrilled. Tony does look different in Endgame, he has been through a lot. RDJ has gotten older (noticeably too) and that headsculpt reflects that. I actually much prefer it to the Mark 50. This is also my first time seeing the final product up close.
We have to keep in that Tony and Nebula were stranded in space onboard The Benatar at the Endgame's opening, with Tony being malnourished and basically dying. We even see his body deteriorated down to the bones after being rescued by Captain Marvel. IMO, I think the interpretation of Tony Stark's head is on point for this edition because it shows him being skinnier and basically a bit worn down from dealing with Thanos, and I think that's what the artist was trying to portray.
We also have to keep in mind that he was malnourished when he was still using the mark 50. The mark 85 came years after he was back to normal. I get what they are trying to do but it just looks weird.

We never see Tony wear the Mark 85 until he fully heals from that trip, years later, as when he's lost in space, the Mk50 is still the newest armor.

That Iron Man from Mark 50 looks like the Iron Man for Mark 46 om Civil War, Infinity war was kinda different look😊 However Endgame look of RDJ is 3000 perfect ❤ It shows a weakened cheek muscles due to ageing. Hair colour became a bit like Howard Stark. Even the hair growth at the beard is a bit less (idk if that comes under ageing too😅) But yes it may not look like Genius Millionaire Playboy Philanthropist But it definitely looks like like someone who Morgan Stark Loves 3000❤

Ok seeing it in more detail, it looks like they were going to go for slimmer Tony. I get it. Still looks wrong. Besides he recovered and put back some weight by Endgame. And although the Mk 50 headsculpt is excellent let's be real, it is not 100% likeness. It's definitely one of the best, so HT should've just stuck with it.
And if they stuck with it, people complains there is nth new. People just cant be pleased these days. But it could be avoidable if they werent charging such stupid prices. So each their own

In terms of the head scult i thought it looked fine until you compared it to the older one. For me i think if they could find a way to put the eyes and brow from the new one onto the face of the older one it would be perfect.

I feel so bad for J.C. Hong. He got so much hate for this figure, just because he’s one of the few people at Hot Toys who has social media. He ended up privating his Instagram because of all the harassment aimed at because of that headsculpt. He’s a painter, he doesn’t control the sculpt!
Only thing can think reason why they had the head Scuplt so skinny was cause he was so skinny in the beginning of the movie as he was starving to death and dying of thirst in space etc.. if they were going for that look maybe but do believe by end his face was def not that to the bone skinny like they are implying here and he had gotten enough fluids and food bk in his system to fill him out more and all. Either way like you say it is a person who sculpts these heads and all. Know it amazes me how people have such a god given gift. Lord knows I don’t. Wouldn’t even try to say what my figures face looked to the original person if I had to sculpt it. They do deserve credit
The Iron Man MK85 is an absolutely incredible figure Justin! Hot toys have nailed it. But, the MK50 is my all time favourite Iron Man figure as I love the bright cherry red, slim design and the patches of gold and silver.
I had a problem with a very stucked screw in the helmet and very difficult to remove, finally I did but was very hard and frustrating. I think Hot toys definitely need to improve the light effects of the figures with a kind of USB charge. because the batteries are complicated to change and doesn't last too much. besides stucked screws!! 😢
The mark 85 is 6.6 feet and Tony stark is 6.1 feet and he was 53 in endgame and 48 in infinity war so that’s why I think the head sculpt looks like that and why I think it’s that tall
@@officialmajor_geezer6261 no, that is RDJ’s height. Tony stark is 6 ft 1 in the comics, and they go by the heights of the characters in the comics, not by the heights of the actors so they use things like platform shoes to increase his height

Hey, knowing you're pretty much the man to turn to for HT advices - which Tony Stark would give you most bang for your buck? I want one that actually resembles RDJ, unmasked ofc, but can't settle. Course, the IM mech test one looks good but the wait is so long. Any suggestions?
One more cool thing to note, the helmet lights up on the lower back as well! I think they tried to do an older, slimmer Tony, but he looks just too "young" and too "healthy" in the portrait. Plus rumor has it, the orig. sculptor left HT and they were not allowed to use his works, so another head sculpt was rushed.
I agree the Mark50 headskulp is better but I think Its supposed to be like he's you know thin because he's been from space Don't eat so he's body has a lot of loss of weight

I feel so bad for J.C. Hong. He got so much hate for this figure, just because he’s one of the few people at Hot Toys who has social media. He ended up privating his Instagram because of all the harassment aimed at because of that headsculpt. He’s a painter, he doesn’t control the sculpt!

Only thing can think reason why they had the head Scuplt so skinny was cause he was so skinny in the beginning of the movie as he was starving to death and dying of thirst in space etc.. if they were going for that look maybe but do believe by end his face was def not that to the bone skinny like they are implying here and he had gotten enough fluids and food bk in his system to fill him out more and all. Either way like you say it is a person who sculpts these heads and all. Know it amazes me how people have such a god given gift. Lord knows I don’t. Wouldn’t even try to say what my figures face looked to the original person if I had to sculpt it. They do deserve credit

The Iron Man MK85 is an absolutely incredible figure Justin! Hot toys have nailed it. But, the MK50 is my all time favourite Iron Man figure as I love the bright cherry red, slim design and the patches of gold and silver.

I had a problem with a very stucked screw in the helmet and very difficult to remove, finally I did but was very hard and frustrating. I think Hot toys definitely need to improve the light effects of the figures with a kind of USB charge. because the batteries are complicated to change and doesn't last too much. besides stucked screws!! 😢

The mark 85 is 6.6 feet and Tony stark is 6.1 feet and he was 53 in endgame and 48 in infinity war so that’s why I think the head sculpt looks like that and why I think it’s that tall

@@officialmajor_geezer6261 no, that is RDJ’s height. Tony stark is 6 ft 1 in the comics, and they go by the heights of the characters in the comics, not by the heights of the actors so they use things like platform shoes to increase his height

Hey, knowing you're pretty much the man to turn to for HT advices - which Tony Stark would give you most bang for your buck? I want one that actually resembles RDJ, unmasked ofc, but can't settle. Course, the IM mech test one looks good but the wait is so long. Any suggestions?

One more cool thing to note, the helmet lights up on the lower back as well! I think they tried to do an older, slimmer Tony, but he looks just too "young" and too "healthy" in the portrait. Plus rumor has it, the orig. sculptor left HT and they were not allowed to use his works, so another head sculpt was rushed.
