    Hey Guys!
    I filmed this a couple of weeks ago but was finally able to quickly put it together. The 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay located in Princeville, Kauai is finally opening after 2 years of renovations. Accepting reservations starting Oct 1st, but comes with a hefty price tag! $2,098 a night! Right now though - you can book for a 30% discount for $1,468 a night. I hope they will offer even a larger Kama'aina discount - but as of now - I don't see anywhere on their page any offerings for residents. Interested to see how their occupancy rate will be with that kind of nightly rate. Let me know if any of you end up booking - would love to follow up with you and see if it was worth it.
    Hotel website: www.1hotels.co...
    As always - thanks so much for watching!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

    They must be struggling or maybe it's off season. I was looking for my future trip and Costco has a package for 6 nights in october at 4800 that includes 1000$ room credit and 300$ costco gift card. It basically will be the same price as a basic room in koloa landing. Not sure if I want to book it though, as I don't know what I'd use the room credit for 😂 I prefer to eat out

    Go to Bali for that money you can rent an entire villa on the ocean with a personal staff of 25 and a personal driver, chef, gardener and many more staff to satisfy every whim and you can bring 20 plus people

      Hey Chuck! So very true! When we were in Bali we stayed in luxury villas with staff that cooked every meal for us and lived like kings/queens/prince/(princess still in the belly 😂) for less than $100 a night! It was crazy.

      We’re in Princeville right now. Went to hideaway beach near the 1 hotel the other day it’s a beautiful area but for the money and equally paradise like conditions Bali with its many unbelievable resorts and much lower cost, I’d rather pay 2k in airfare to Bali to be treated like a king for 100 a night. Bali is magical. We wanna go back and go to Lombok. Cheers to more travel like that.

    In may 2023, how are they doing? I'd like any hotel in hanalei to succeed but I'm butthurt I'm priced out of my honeymoon/anniversary hotel. Anybody know the occupancy rate? It costs that much a night for the Star Wars hotel in DisneyWorld, and the just announced closure this week.

    We stayed at the Princeville resort in 2005 and it was around $300/night and the Four Seasons in Lanai in 2008 was around $400/night. I believe the the Four Seasons is something similar to the 1 now - all seems a bit crazy....And really - the resorts aren't really our thing anyway. We'll stick to the condos. Thanks J !

    • @YourHostJ
      @YourHostJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Yes - I feel as though $300 - $400 a night seems more reasonable, but that's my opinion of course. Maybe because we are a family of 4 - we like staying in the vacation rentals over hotels. More room for everyone. Thanks so much for the comment and for watching ❤️

    Just checked on The One Hotel and it won’t open until December1. I’m an old fan of the St. Regis but I can’t afford The One.
    Think about it-they paid A ton to buy the St Regis property, closed it for 2 years and went all out on the renovation. They’re trying to recoup a huge investment by charging these exorbitant rates.
    I took a look at occupancy and it doesn’t look good for the stockholders. They know more than I do but I wonder if this business model can be successful.

    • @YourHostJ
      @YourHostJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Timothy! I took a look after reading your comment and you're right - they changed the dates to Dec and with a ridiculous price increase to over $3k a night???!!! I understand recouping their initial investment, but wow! You're right though, I'm sure their team must have the numbers figured out and think this will work for them. Only time will tell! I'll miss the Regis and their amazing brunches they used to have with a killer view.

    You answered your question why people would pay that price. The concierge service, the daily housekeeping service, the amenities… When I go on vacation, I love that the maid comes in and makes the bed every morning and changes the sheets if you ask, gives fresh towels every day, concierge makes recommendations for whatever you want or need, calls car service..,

    • @YourHostJ
      @YourHostJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      True and I agree 100% that I love getting that extra attention when I travel too, but it seems so pricey. Also - just found out that they are delaying opening till Dec 1st and now the nightly rate is $3,000 a night. Hopefully they go really and truly above and beyond with their concierge services 😂

    NO chance would I pay that. I recently stayed at the Four Seasons Anguilla for a relative bargain. Hard to improve upon Four Seasons quality and management at scale. Stayed at One Hotel Miami (another rehab) nice but overpriced, over hyped, I wish them luck on droves of folks with long traveling times clamoring for hotel service.

    Thank you for saying some of these things out loud. We are planning a trip to Kaua’i in August, and of course we checked out the photo gallery. This resort is unquestionably positioned ideally to view spectacular Hanalei Bay. But let’s be real. I was floored to see rooms so small a king sized bed has to be jammed up next to the wall so you have room to pass on the other side! For that price you can rent an actual house with a private swimming pool! As someone who truly loves Kaua’i and wants to see the island and hotel be successful, especially to provide good jobs for residents, I fear the property can’t possibly provide price value for what you get. It would have to come with a whole Team of hookers to justify those prices for such tiny rooms!

  • @donnacuming2019

    It's hard to imagine how a hotel room justifies that price tag, but I am sure they will have lots of instagram influencers trying to sell it LOL. No wrong in staying in poipu. It is a drive going out to Waimea and Hanalei but a Hawaiian trip in general is extremely pricey, island air fares and stays are not cheap. Especially considering that inflation is contributing to price gouging… wanted to go to kauai again, but economic uncertainty at the moment is delaying any hawaiian trips in the near future for us…

    • @YourHostJ
      @YourHostJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you enjoyed your time on island! Koloa is great! I love that part of the island. Yeah - we noticed the "instagram influencers" at many of the places we traveled to. The true gems are the places that still haven't been discovered I guess. Thanks for watching ❤️

      Hi Wanda - I agree that if you can afford it - go for it! I'm definitely not knocking down the more fortunate people of the world. I'm just a little bummed that they've shut out the rest of the island in a way. Majority won't be able to have their little getaways anymore. I know lots of people that would spent a night to celebrate anniversaries, milestone bdays, etc. I guess Airbnb and VRBOs are going to be the thing in the Princeville area now since the Westin is the only other hotel in the area. Nice hearing from you ❤️
