Why am I obsessed with this band and this man. I'm not even looking this stuff up anymore the algorithm just keeps fueling my addiction lmao
Ayyy me too
@@abigaileldritch me three, help me I’ve been trapped in the oingo Boingo cycle and I can’t get out! Every where I go it’s Oingo Boingo Oingo Boingo it’s following me like a stranger in a alley. Right when I found out about this band I noticed the familiar Elfman. To be honest I’m kinda over it…or am I. Just weird coincidences personally and everything surrounding me pushing me to look more into these guys and seeing how many different people Danny Elfman worked and researching them. You can find a lot of inspiration, I’ve been watching so many Sam Rami (Danny has scored some of his movies) interviews and just the story of how he made the first evil dead is fascinating. Seems so fun. Also thanks for uploading this.
Holler
@@abigaileldritch me too Derek Llewellyn feel like flash back past life look back in time time travel would definitely be there in made making magic of WB studio's haunted house movie made magical magic of maze in lullaby same place looks like in line queen Mary ship name jackie scary Mary part of the world part of the same
That there are young folk out there enjoying the very thing that got me through the 80s and my twenties makes me deliriously happy. Life is good.
Danny's smile at the end sucked the soul out of Greg's body.
lolll Dannys' smile.. poor guy keeps getting interrupted 😭
how is he a real person??? how is he so amazing???
I love that he demolishes him in two words at 6:53 ;)
i like older interviews more than new ones, i feel like the hosts have more personality in them. maybe not, maybe its just the quality of the video and audio of older interviews that makes me like them more. who knows, but its always a treat to see mr elfman on the screen lol
No, you're right! There was less political correctness back then, and less fear of offending anyone. More creative freedom to say what you're thinking without consequences. Now it's so P.C. and reserved and fearful and walking on eggshells. There's definitely a huge difference in today's talkshows and interviews vs. 30+ yrs ago.
You are Correct sir 💯
The bullshit I sit through for the Elfman. ❤
YES! This was like the worst interview *ever.* Danny is clearly irritated.
STILL and always WILL be my favorite film composer.
Kinnear has ambition, but he’s drab n contrived.
Elfman is so sexy in that he owns himself and his world and doesn’t bend to anyone!
Great upload, thanks for this time capsule. I had no idea Kinnear had a show at some point...
No one live forever ❤
This man's a genius.
boy harsher got me here
Holt shit same
Kinnear is useless but Danny is fascinating! Thanks for uploading!
I'm still curious if Danny was ever against the idea of being a composer, or if he wished, in any sense, that he could've done something else. I'm glad he seems to enjoy music creation, but just a thought. Also interesting they played Gratitude before the break. Could've imagined they'd do something more, I don't know, "popular"?
Gratitude is one of my favorites.
@@therealwilfreddierkes9980 Definitely one of mine too, like, top 5.
He wanted to be a scientist when he was a kid. Had a hobby of injecting insects with radioactive isotopes which you could get by mail order in the 60s apparently. Even won an award for one of his projects.
Makes sense Gratitude was from his first solo album Oingo Bingo recorded it.
Danny looks PISSED @ 5:17
I feel like I should remember Greg Kinnear having his own show?
Im not sure Greg Kinnear remembers having his own show... and Pepridge Farm doesn't remember either.
lmao. Good reference. Back when family guy was legendary. Prepridge farm remembers. @@holgualoxford3871
I've listened to the entire 1989 Batman soundtrack album...so no worries Danny. There aren't any sound effects there!
0h Danny Elfman your such a musical genius 😘🤗😍😍😍 🔥🔥
you're
short for you are
"When you don't own anything, they can't take anything away." Can you see it?
Was Greg Kinnear meant to be a Letterman parody? Serious question
Oof, this was kind of painful to watch. Such an awkward handling by Greg Kinnear, it almost felt like they were at odds with each other. It didn't seem like Danny wanted to be there.
5:09
WAF killing it
was greg using letterman's hair stylist??
wow greg kinesr was terrible at this, good clip to dhow why this show was cancelled,
boo yah. i remember this on tv, and NOT getting to see them in anaheim on the farewell 95 shows i was 12 though, and my parents didn't share my obsession.
I didn’t know he had a show, but he delivers like a game show host. The set is fraught out of Where in the world is Carmen San Diego?
Interesting stage configuration
Id rather watch this instead of Jimmy Fallon's fake ass laughter.
isn't this the guy from as good as it gets. why is a serious actor hosting a talk show
He did comedy roles as well
Kinnear took an odd route to be a film actor. First he hosted Talk Soup where he showed a bunch of stupid reality-based clips, then they gave him his own talk show (or moreso take over when Bob Costas left this show and gave him a studio audience). Then they put him in movies for some reason.
I get the feeling Greg is not great at ad-lib. This makes me as uncomfortable as a Dick Cavett interview. Cavett couldn't stop interuppting himself and the guests, but at least he was coming from a position of knowledge. Kinnear comes across as slow and somewhat clueless.
! Best
This interviewer is cringe as hell. Kinnear is trying to be David Letterman but is failing miserably.
Danny looks stoned as hell
11:34
Danny Elfman was kinda mean in this interview. Like yeah Greg Kinnear wasn’t doing the greatest job but Danny made it kinda hard on him
He doesn't really owe him anything. He was invited to come on the show from them. Could he have acted in a better manner? Possibly, but we don't see what happens before the cameras roll and cut. The interviewee deserves the most respect for willingly coming on, Elfman could've turned them down, they weren't a struggling band that needed this interview. Most artists do them for their fans, which you see in the video the only two times he's enjoying himself, is playing and waving/looking at the audience.
The only song I really adore is the one used at the very beginning of “Back to School”. It is instrumental. If he had listened to the part of heaven a little more, he would have put out more lovely and wonderful music such as this piece. But, he is into the dark side. Very creepy. To waste a great talent on bring out darkness is just a big downer.
Is it because hes jewish, Karen?
@kittycat6195: Whatever drugs you're on..... you might wanna get off 'em.
Greg Kinnear sucked.. he was way too smarmy and it came off as conceited and insincere toward the guests.
All respect to Danny Elfman and Oingo Bongo.. But his 90's stints were pure garbage.
Wait to you mean their 1994 album from Giant Records? Or his awkward mid '90s TV appearances?🤔
Danny has a way of behaving that’s just so silly, I can’t really pinpoint it. But he’s so goofy and I love him for that
He is a strange, awkward madman, and I am here for every minute of it. I am going to see him in a few days, and I can not wait!
4:26
Ugh, this interview was so bad. I remember waiting up late to see it, and then he just barely lets him talk, and does stupid shit like the bingo bango bongo naming nonsense. I twas obvious Danny was irritated too.
Still better than Jimmy Fallon's forced laughter
Elfman carried this interview so well. Charming, chill, funny, interesting.
Nothing like that Danny grin!❤
If I could only be half as cool as Danny
I compose for smaller theater companies, and I can so relate to the directors who don't know music! They're always impressed, I'll have far more creative freedom to support the play emotionally, and I know I'm not gonna be micro-managed. I know it's gonna be awful when on our first meeting the director hands me a stack of CD's (in the old days) or a song list and says, "Something in this vein, be original, but something with this feel." They always have different ideas than I do about what gives the music the feel it has, and they act like I don't get it when they don't like my prelim demos. What they want is the music they handed me, not an original score.
There have been a couple directors who really knew their stuff though. They held me to their directions pretty strictly, but they explained why, and they taught me a great deal about scoring that I didn't already know. I don't know whether they could teach anything to a guy like Danny Elfman (I think they'd be foolish to try), but for a guy like me, I'm much better for it, and I'll work with those directors anytime!
I couldn’t imagine Batman or pee wee without Danny’s music
Oingo boingo is very cool
I love this man
this interview is a riot. Danny elfman trumps greg so effortlessly in charisma and character. Truly a class act
Why is Danny literally so fuckin hot 🥵
Worddd
i saw traffic in 94 opening for the dead at giant stadium.
Kinnear is acting like a fake talk show host in a bad movie
i wish kim vicky vale would stop screaming in batman
Greg Kinnear had a talk show?!
He tried to be Johnny Knoxville in the 2000's as well.
I have felt like this man is a sick phuc in someway. weird aggressive streaks and self-obsession. - talking about danny elfman.
whys that?
