    Everyone talks about this game as though we all know it intimately so as a newbie I appreciate this play through.

      Absolutely! This crossed my mind too I wasn't sure if people would still be interested in this game as it's an older title that seems very well played. It's still very new to me though so of course want to show it off and share the love! 🤩😁

      @@bluedogboardgames I just got this game this year. It is remarkably deep, and playthroughs are so much fun to watch. I learn something new each time.

    I was convinced it was impossible to score over 50 points. You've proven me wrong :) Respect!

    Thank you for this play through, Rhiannon. I think I still prefer Caverna to Agricola (which I have still not played) because it does not seem nearly as punishing. I am loving your Uwe Rosenberg solo series as I am a huge fan of his games. Keep up the great work!

      Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it, it's been good to make. Yes I would definitely agree Caverna is less punishing. I wouldn't necessarily call Agricola punishing...but the food is certainly something that needs to be thought about and not as a side thought as it can be in Caverna!

    Thanks for this! I'm looking to get one or two Uwe games and to be honest this one wasn't on my shortlist due to a naive assumption that it was simply redundant today. However, after seeing this I'm really intrigued; I love the idea of getting a bunch of cards and trying to make them work. The art/graphic design is oddly beautiful too.
    Really enjoying the series and super keen to hear your summary.

      Brilliant I'm glad I could help! Hoping to finish the series off reasonably soon but would still like to acquire maybe one more...😬☺️

    Hi, thank you for this video, I bought the game because of your playthrough and I am so glad I did. Totally love Agricola, I still enjoy the regular solo play but I am sure that after some additional plays i will start the campaign. Thanks for your nice playthroughs, it is much appreciated.

    Great video!
    I really enjoy your enthusiasm and extensive final thoughts. It's so helpful in deciding if I'm gonna like a game or not.
    I thought Agricola might be to punishing for me (with what everyone warns you about, the feeding part), but watching your playthrough it didn't struck me as too bad. You know before hand what's expected of you and you can plan accordingly. And with no other players there are less surprises/ less 'bad luck moments'.
    That campaign sounds really fun! And I like what you say about how balanced it is and how much variability there is in the card selection.
    I don't have any Uwe Rosenberg games yet, but Caverna, Feast for Odin, Fields of Arle and now Agricola are on my wish list. 🎉
    I see you have video content on these other games too.. that's awesome! Adding them to my too watch list!
    Thanks! ❤

      Hey! Thank you so much! I'm glad that my videos have been helpful to you, I plan to do at least another 3 videos of solo Uwe playthroughs so your list may grow longer yet!!
      Yes I'd also heard about how punishing this game is food wise too and it put me off a little, but definitely solo and at 2 player I don't have much trouble and, like you say, you know exactly what you're going to need and when you're going to need it so it just needs some planning just like any other part of a game.
      I hope you enjoy the games when you get to play them! Have a good look at all the artwork I really love finding all the small differences 🤩

    Have been looking forward to this one in the series as it's a personal favorite. Really nice score, I'm always happy when I get closer to 60 solo. As always, great playthrough and really enjoy hearing your thoughts at the end and what works and doesn't for you in games. Makes me want to pull out my copy again soon.

    27:40 I don't know if they changed the rules in the revised edition for this, but in the original you cannot cook sheep you don't have room for. They escape before you are able to cook them.

      No, that's a house rule. You can convert animals directly into food with a fire place. Official rules.

    Thank you so very much for this fun playthrough and the whole Uwe Rosenberg Solo series! I‘m also relatively new to Agricola and love it to explore the game. There are so many expansion decks and also the big Farmers of the Moore expansion, so I‘m just at the start. I‘d love to see a playthrough of yours with that bigger expansion, your style of teaching the rules really resonates with me.
    In comparison with Caverna, I think this just has a different main focus with the variable card play. Caverna‘s strong points are the adventures and rubies. Both great games, still. I‘m looking forward to your final ranking video :)
    BTW, I think you forgot to pay the clay for your fireplace XD

      Thank you for your kind comments! Whoops didn't notice that either haha I talk too much and I get distracted!!
      Completely agree with your thoughts of Agricola Vs Caverna. I don't actually own any of the expansion content for Agricola I'm afraid but have heard good things about it all!
      Still got a few games to cover before I get to my rankings but we're getting there!!

  • @Psimon
    @Psimon ปีที่แล้ว

    Completely agree with your thoughts on Agricola. It's my favorite game, but I prefer it multiplayer (as opposed to FoA). For solo I sometimes like Farmers of the Moor as it gives you a little more randomness and more things to do to make up for the missing interaction. It's true that you try to achieve similar things every game in Agricola, but for me the fun is to find the best way how to do them and when (depending on the cards), or even finding the situation where you should try something crazy. Caverna and FoA are more about what to do and it's easier to see the variability there. But once you focus more on the cards it'll feel fresh every time.

    Hi, great play through. Unless I missed a card you played (which is entirely possible) you cannot usually build a stone house without building a clay house first. Wood-clay-stone 👍

    Agricola will always hold a special place in my heart. I have moved to Stone Age as my go to worker placement as it is much easier to get to the table and explain. I do like to pull Agricola out every now and then for a solo playthrough though.

    Personally, I highly recommend the solo mode using AI cards. Gives you more fun playing solo. You are not racing with the score, but with the Bot that collects goods, people etc... and at the end also scores points.
    This is a variant created by a third person and for download on bgg.
    It's not perfect sologame and it has its problems, but in general I prefer to play Agricola this way.

    • @bluedogboardgames
      @bluedogboardgames  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd forgotten there was an AI variant actually! I had meant to try it but usually have a good time without it. This is brilliant though as just gives yet another way to play, this game really does have a huge amount of content for the price point compared to a lot of others nowadays. I must give that AI a go...

    • @tombulva
      @tombulva ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluedogboardgames There are several versions on bgg created by Agricola lovers. There are also applications, but I personally recommend the version with AI cards, I think it's called - Machina Agricola ;-).
      I bought the game a few months ago with some trepidation, but the price was encouraging. And what it has to offer, despite its age, is excellent. It was one of the coolest purchases recently.

    Thank you for this series on Rosenberg games, and congratulations on your results.
    I wonder if you made a misplay: at minute 11 when you place the fireplace that costs 2 clays .... you keep the 2 clay pieces? is this the rule?

    Really great playthrough! I like with your videos how you explain your thought process as you go. Which would you say is better for purely solo play - Agricola or Fields of Arle?
    Agricola is obviously a classic and as you say looks really tightly designed and calibrated. But that constantly having to worry about feeding your workers looks like it might get a bit annoying!

    • @bluedogboardgames
      @bluedogboardgames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! Once I've finished going through solo playthroughs of my Uwe games (I've still got at least 2 to go) I will be making a ranking list for all of the solo modes, so keep an eye out for that for my comparison 😁
      Yes I understand a lot of people find the people feeding just too much and it destroys the enjoyment a bit. I don't find that really but it's certainly not something you can ignore and forget about in your play.
