The Fellow Tally Pro has come onto the scene as the newest competitor to the Acaia Pearl which is, my opinion, the reigning king of higher-end coffee scales. In this video we get into which is the best option for home users AND cafes and whether or not it's worth the upgrade if you already own a coffee scale. Thanks for watching!

Man, the Tally is just so slick, and that OLED display is just 👌
I think I'm gonna splurge and get one.
It's worth mentioning that the Pearl S goes up all the way to 3 kg, making it even more suited for an all purpose kitchen scale
This is great - just the comparison I was seeking and it has helped with my purchase decision. On a separate note, I stumbled upon your video simply through my search criteria and had no idea who you were. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that you also run my favorite coffee shop in the Atlanta area. Any chance Valor might pop up in Roswell (Canton St) or East Cobb in the future? 😂. Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words! Hah, nothing is impossible but not in the too-near future, Dunwoody is still a baby 😅
I agree with your assessment 100%. I finally left my OG Pearl for a new Tally, but it's only because I was looking for something new with an OLED screen. Plus, it looks great with all of my other Fellow equipment. My one and only complaint about the Tally is the lack of Bluetooth support. I loved being able to connect my Pearl to my iPhone or iPad, but sadly, that's not a feature of the Tally.
At the 13:25 mark, you suggest that the Pearl is perishable. To the best of my knowledge, Acaia is the only scale company that offers a repair program in the U.S. We recognize our items are an investment and want to ensure your scale continues to work beyond the warranty period.
I hear you, and that’s truly great, but nevertheless it would be better on many end consumers to be able to purchase parts for simple repairs and do them ourselves. Thanks for watching.
nice videos. good reviews. Nevertheless if both use rechargable batteries what happens if they are exhausted? is there a replacement or do you have to throw away the complete scale
I don’t personally think this would be a problem within the natural lifespan of the scales, as I think you’d run into other problems before this. I’ve had the same battery in my Pearl for yeeeeeaaaarrrsss and can’t complain about battery life. But I’m sure you could send in the scale for replacement battery if it came to that.
Acaia has a battery tune-up program! We received a 2013 Kickstarter scale a week ago and have it running like new with the latest firmware for the original Pearl.
perfect...thanks...you just bumped into my top five coffee channels...there was indeed a casuality oops
The Tally is the winner for me
My favorite brew ratio is 1:16.66, so Tally can't do that.
Thank you! What the hell is up with touch buttons?! I’m really not a fellow fan… they’re stuff is over marketed and over priced. I hear many quality issues… but the buttons!
4:26 I’m a little confused how you put a micro usb cable in backwards…..
Yeah, you can’t insert it backwards, that’s what causes the damage. It’s easy enough to line it up and insert it in a home format, but in a cafe at close when baristas are moving quickly and they accidentally try to place the cable in upside down and it doesn’t work, it rams the cable housing and eventually wears it out. This is the most common issue I’ve heard folks having with the older scales, but thankfully it has been addressed with USB-C
@@rileywestbrook sounds like you need smarter baristas 🤦♂️
@@PPGMattsounds like you haven’t worked in a busy environment.
@@Cccoast actually I have. In my profession rushing or using excuses can get you severely injured and/or dead.
Good quality video. Just keep your hands to yourself. You move them too much, made my dizzy..
The hips too, I wanted to watch but I seriously had to stop; I was getting motion sickness. I move a lot too so I feel him 😔
arent you precious - just listen if you cant stand watching someone move
@@medusiz1801 this is constructive criticism. Don't like it, move along.
@medusiz1801 not trying to hate at all, just offering some feedback so that his channel can grow and flourish. I am also very fidgety so I understand.
