Wow! What a history of one of the Asian restaurants I have been dining in 29 years of eating Asian food nearby. I started dining at Panda Express 7 years ago and been one of my favorite Asian food restaurants. I enjoyed the bowls and plates of fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, mushroom chicken, chow mein, and egg rolls.
Excellent story & wonderful success for the family. Not a gimmick foodie place, just high quality food & service. The Pasadena restaurant is on my trip list
I don't get it though. He was mentioned authentic Yang Chow dishes and Taiwanese dishes, but those dishes never served at Panda Express and probably never will. Or was he actually thinking about serving those dishes in the future?
My first job was at Panda Express. Back when 8.00/hr was the starting wage lol. Solid job, learned a lot. Great food, have always wanted to try the Panda Inn
As a Taiwanese American, i have no problems eating at Panda Express. I just dont know how it survived. 25 years ago, a person from Sierra Leon bragged about a good Chinese restaurant she went to a Hong Konger coworker. The moment she mentioned Panda, that Hker immediately fired back thats not Chinese food. Back in 97, i took my co worker to eat Chinese food. Another Chinese also came. That co worker is Caucasian. He was born, raised, n lived in San Pedro. We were working in Marina del Rey. There were not many E Asian in that area. Anyway that co worker warned me not to take him to Panda express or equivalent. I took them regular Cantonese restaurant. That Caucasian coworker was very happy. Over past 30 years, i have received similar warning from non Taiwanese/Chinese. 2 years ago, i always asked my Caucasian to go eat at Panda Express. One day he had enough n said he has no objection on Chinese food, but he just didn't like Panda express. Its not authentic. There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in our area, why do I insist Panda Express. i took him to Cantonese n Taiwanese restaurants. He had no problems. He just hated Panda Express. In LA, more n more non Taiwanese can critique Taiwanese restaurants based on taste. Same thing to Cantonese food. I know those are minority, but i have the feeling non Taiwanese/Chinese will not like Panda Express for Chinese food is becoming majority. I dont know how Panda Express survives in LA. I still love Panda Express, but its getting pricer even before pandemic.
As a chinese ans live in NyC...any kind of chinese food even any take out reaturant is better than panda express. Every it is deep fried greasy with thick sauce. Nothing reassembles chinese food...anyway...as just a fast food americanizes version..still very bad...
I’m an Angeleno currently in Europe. I miss Panda Express every time I’m here in Europe. When I go home to LA for the holidays I always stop by panda a few times. Even in the lax airport.
Not a big fan. Controlled miser portions ala Chipotle and awful hard fried rice, stale like noodles, sides are taken out of precooked bulk bags and reheated really there are really good Chinese food restaurants but you have to dig deep.
@@mikeparker6322 Thanks. People can enjoy what you can, but there are some restaurants that really, they're not serving what they should, both in food quality, portions and customer service. In fairness, Panda WAS great, but that was way back, in my view and experience. There was a really superb normal people Chinese restaurant in Hollywood that was simply amazing, but once they moved, the main owners retired, it was over. But I'm sure there are more and i can list one in actual China town. In fact, now that I remember! That's what I was mentioning, deep inside up a stairs was a fantastic authentic Chinese restaurant IN Chinatown. I mean dude! So good! But that was in the 90s. Right now I know of one in West LA that rocks. But its upto you to find better, enjoy!
Ah yes, who doesn't think of sushi when they go get Chinese 😂. I went a few years ago and the best thing they had was their tea smoked duck. Now the menu looks like a Panda Express but made to order and sushi 😂. Just go to San Gabriel Valley for better and less over priced Chinese food.
Awesome! Please bring back the vegan orange chicken! My wife and I drive down to your HQ just to get the last batch of orange chicken before you ran out!!
panda express sucks, every time i have to eat it is because someone bought it. Chinese takeout is always and will be better and is cheaper plus you get more food
Those people are real estate frauds. None of them are who they say they are. They don't own any of that property and are trespassing. That Panda Inn, always had good Chinese food. 🥡
Please don't make baseless claims without evidence. Did you know that these guys are massive philanthropists? They've helped so, so many local people and businesses. After the LA riots they helped many Los Angeles business rebuild, and they have often made sure that Panda Expresses have been built in areas where other developers didn't want to open places because the neighborhood is low income. Very great people here.
I love Panda and could eat it every single day.
I just got it yesterday! Half chow mein half rice, beef broccoli and orange chicken 🤤😩 so good!
I’ve been eating so much Panda this year because of the Dodgers 😂
your colon doesnt.
@@vsznry My colon is just fine but I bet you're the constipated one. Projection?

I wonder how this restaurant will stand out and survive considering how many Chinese restaurants there are in the San Gabriel Valley
They sell vegan chicken now too!
Maybe I’ll try it finally.
Try it you don’t know what you’re missing. Yummy.😅
Panda Express has gotten worse in the last 15 years.
Now I want Panda Express. 😢

Exactly. I was at a location in Escondido last month and the "fried" rice was like eating a cashew nut. Some locations the quality is not there.

I usually dont eat any type of chinese food but when I do and the food is fresh, Panda is the best.
I'm sorry, there's way too many legit Chinese take out to ever go to Panda Express lol
The chow-mein and the Fried Rice are bland. All else is good. However, less sugar would be nice.

they will not survive in Vancouver..too many much better Asian cuisines in BC ... the best outside of Asia itself and not even close
@ yes but the market is fast food Chinese, and none of those restaurants come close to what panda offers.
