    Do you have different problems with ALL functions? How do you resolve them?

    I just spent 6 hours trying to work out why ALL didnt work with my date (year / month) combination and this video was the only place I could find where it was described. Thanks a million Bas!

    Man, I've spent nearly 2 days on trying to figure out why ALL specifically was not working. To me, this is kind of a bug in DAX, unless there is a specific reason why when a column is sorted by another column, it must then be explicitly stated in ALL(or ALLEXCEPT and REMOVEFILTERS). Thank you for this. It also helped me better understand the difference between ALL and ALLSELECTED. Great video.

    I was about to cry myself to sleep tonight cause I just spent 4 hours trying to get my ALL function to work, but really couldn't pinpoint the issue. Turned out to be the 'Sort Order' issue!! Thank you!!!!

    Hi bas, very nice, all problems can be solved if you use all to the fact table, then it removes all the filters that are pointing to the fact table.

    HI, I have another issue with All. I have 5 categories in a slicer but when I select each category separately, the All figures are the same for 2 of the categories while the other 3 are the same. If I select All categories, it matches that of the 3 but not the 2. Any ideas?

    I'm struggling with a requirement in a variable to remove a date filter while at the same time using the date in a calculation which I think brings back the date filter.
    VAR _InitialScore =
    CALCULATETABLE (
    SUMMARIZE (
    'Outcome Surveys',
    [Enrollment ID ],
    "FirstInitialScore", CALCULATE ( MINX (TOPN ( 1, 'Outcome Surveys', [Survey Date], ASC ), 'Outcome Surveys'[Gen Well Being Score]), 'Outcome Surveys'[Survey Type] = "Initial", REMOVEFILTERS('Calendar'))
    ),
    FILTER('Outcome Surveys', [Enrollment ID ] IN _MatchedPairs),
    REMOVEFILTERS ('Calendar')
    )
    The REMOVEFILTERS seems to have no effect. Any suggestions.
    Thanks.

    Using multiple columns as references in all or allselect can't be performed as the column names are not populated as parameters in the function. I there any solution we have to follow

    Hi, this video really helped!
    Just one question, what if I need to use a slicer to subset the column on which we are using the all function. At present, I have a situation where I need to get subtotals by two groups, apply all function to a third column but also be able to subset the third column using a slicer. Right now, my third column is a date field and using all function to this column gives the sum of all dates. But even if i use an external slicer to select two dates only, it still gives me the entire sum of all dates. What I want it to be able to do is give the all only on the subset of the dates selected.

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like you don't want to remove the filter that comes from the slicer. In that case you would need ALLSELECTED()

    • @anuragdeshmukh1985

      @@HowtoPowerBI yes this was it! Thank you so much! Plus the thing about also including the order by column made it work! Can't thank you enough for this. 😊🙏

    Hi!! very usefull video. I still have a problem that i do not know how to solve. I want to rank my stores acording to diferent masures and in order to do so i used rankx with an allselected filter and it works. the tricky part is that i would like to select a store from an outside slicer and see how it ranks, but since i have my rankx mixed with an allselected filter onces i select the store it ranks it agains itself and it turns out to be 1. do you know how could i solve this?? Hope you can help, thanks!!

    I got confused in the Sales % and ALLSELECTED Sales %,
    Sales % should show 100 % as it removes any filter applied so it should not care about what filters are applied no change should affect, whereas ALLSELECTED Sales % should show the percentage for only selected items, so there should be less in % not 100,
    Can you please help me in clearing the doubts?

    Hi, I faced an issue when the ALL function is not working. I created a measure to ignore country filter : Total = CALCULATE(AVERAGE(ASP[Net Value ASP USD]),ALL(ASP[Country],ASP[District]))
    The table with country and total columns looks okay but once I select country slicers, the total starts to change.

    Hi! Thanks for the video :) I have a question: If I create a filter visualization of the ProductCategory and I use it to filter by just one ProductCategory the Table shows me just the ProducCategory that I've had selected with its SalesAmount but the 'ALL Sales' measure changes...and it is supossed to be the same value as the value given without using the filter. What is going wrong?

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      did you also remove the filter from the column that sorts the product category ( ProductCategorySort ) ?

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thx Tigere. With variables a common issue is that variables are calculated within the context in which they are in the formula , that result is stored and used in the rest of the expression - will try to do a video on it

    I was wondering if inside the CALCULATE function,
    ALL(dimProducts[ProductSubcategoryName], dimProducts[ColorName]])
    and
    ALL(dimProducts[ProductSubcategoryName]), ALL(dimProducts[ColorName]])
    are equivalents. I think so.
    Thanks for the video!

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      result is the same :) the CALCULATE function will perform a logical AND operation on all the filter conditions it has.. So both expressions remove the filters on subcategory and colorname.
