管理人のKiyoと申します。
この物語は地獄谷野猿公苑の群れの偉大なメス頭（いわゆる女王、メスの序列１位のサル）である「トックリ00」の全盛期を追い続けたドキュメンタリーです。
地獄谷野猿公苑の群れは公苑設立以来、現2023年までの間に8頭のメス頭が存在してきました。
この「トックリ00物語」の主人公の「トックリ00」は地獄谷野猿公苑史に名を残すことになるでしょう。
日本全国のモンキーパークのメス頭を見てもトックリ00ほどの強烈な存在感と個性を持ったメスは存在しないと思います。
トックリ00は世界中に多くのファンを持っています。
トックリ00は8代目、今もなお現存するメス頭です。
トックリ00は2013年にメス頭の座につきました。
私が彼女の存在を知り密着を始めたのは2015年からです。
この「トックリ00物語」はトックリ00の全盛期である2015年～2019年をメインに、その前後も多少含めて展開していきます。
ぜひこの偉大なメス「トックリ00」を知っていただき、この極寒の山岳地帯に今も生きているトックリ00の強烈な生き様をこの「トックリ00物語」で楽しんでいただければ、と思います。

It has absolutely nothing to do with them being insecure. With macaques, the youngest siblings always outrank each older sibling. It is called the principle of youngest ascendancy. It will usually remain that way for females. The youngest female will rank just under her mom. That young baby macaque will outrank adult female macaques that her mother outranks. I have even seen very young infant daughter of a high ranked mother bully a fully mature female that was lower ranked. For male babies it will remain that the youngest outranks older until about age 2-3 years at which time it will reverse and older brothers will outrank younger brothers and sons ranking is dependent on their mom's rank as long as they remain in their natal troop. It used to be thought that all males left their natal troop before they reached sexual maturity but recently it has been discovered that is not always the case. Once a male moves on to another troop their ranking will depend on fighting, strength and how many friends they can convert to their side.😊

@@PrimateProductions Hi! I'd thought I knew about hierarchy in troops, but after watching the video and especially after your really thourogh explanation, it seems I knew a lot less than I thought I did.

You are very much welcome! I enjoy helping others who are interested gain more information and knowledge about primates. I always hesitate to do so because I am never sure how it will come across in written (rather than spoken) words and do not want to sound like a "know it all" or anything!
If I am not mistaken there is also a video of a baby Japanese macaque in a zoo whose mom is one of the top ranking females in their troop and her tiny female baby, no more than a couple of months old if I remember correctly, really bullies an adult female and her very young baby and very blatantly shows the adult female that she is very much aware of the ranking of each of them. I will look and see if I cam find it and come back with a link to the video and put it here if you are interested!🙂
