      They do updates, but they'er not going to do an update in 2022 on a house hunt from 2002, lol. Most of the recent updates have been from 2015 and after.

      I'm tempted to search online based on the location of the properties and see whether they live there still and the value of the property now and if they sold up for a packet. Then I remember that I have a life. Or my boss walks in (not, of course, the same thing).

    Why would anyone ever buy leasehold who knows.

    • @pjani14
      @pjani14 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Why do you think? Only leasehold is possible for most buyers in London and other expensive locations. So you either have to move away from your friends, family, job etc or compromise with leasehold which is still better than flushing rent money down the toilet. Plus most people have done very well out of them - nearly all leaseholds have gone up in value over the last 5 / 10 / 20 years in London.

      what price do you think freehold houses start, in London? I'll give you a clue...it's 7 figures

    • @NYCHeartandSoul
      @NYCHeartandSoul ปีที่แล้ว

      To this American viewer the idea of a leasehold sounds like madness. What if the lease is up in 10 years? Are leaseholder / freeholder disputes common? Are rowhouses generally leaseholds or freeholds?
      I will fully acknowledge that my experience in a condominium here in the states was less than ideal. What started out with a wonderful neighbors ended up being a bunch of cranky cantankerous complaining folks. I managed to sell and get a single-family house, sorry detached!

    • @serenakoleno9338
      @serenakoleno9338 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you think about it, USA houses are not really owned outright. If you don't pay the property taxes, out you go. And with 40-50 year mortgages and second or equity mortgages, how many people pay them off before they die?

      She does do that a bit - she can be a bit domineering

    • @FigaroHey
      @FigaroHey 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      She realizes from experience that many people have no vision about possible changes or adding value, and as Phil says, the cost of making changes hasn't risen as fast as the cost of buying. It's always cheaper to buy a doer-upper than a done-up- already, but many people reject a property because of paint color or carpet because they can't imagine the place with different paint or carpet. She's telling people all their options. That's not domineering (since the people don't even own the flat). It's informing them to make them smarter shoppers and get better value.

  • @ariescustom

    Poor Englanders. Imagine spending that much money on leasehold bullshit and not even owning your property.

    Kirstie do you have any idea how boring you sound flat after flat all you can talk about is knocking down walls. I for one do not like the all in one model of living that you are promoting. Who wants their whole flat to smell of whatever you are cooking? or having to have an impecable kitchen because it is always on show. DOes it ever occur to you that whilst I am cooking I am in my little happy world of my own and have no interest in having to listen to the News or Football, because my better half wants to? Stop telling people how they should live and let them make up their own minds
