I'm a 14 year black male and my parents wouldn't allow me to be outside after 9pm. I had to get my butt back to the house. I also blame their parents for not taking care of their kids. Blaming the parents is a valid point; however, we as a society must move beyond the blame game and actually hold these young people responsible for their own actions. It's not enough to just say "where are the parents". Arrest these punks and put them in jail for a few months. My friend has been a teacher for a while and she said this crop of kids the last few years are really dumb and really bad. She said a lot of them read at a 2nd grade level (high school), and all their parents have to do is call and complain now to get them out of everything.

I would say the blame lies with the liberalization of our justice system. Laws are in place and punishments are in place for those laws. However, the courts handing down lighter sentences and lawmakers/politicians passing new softer laws to protect said criminals are where the problem lies. Cops can put them in jail all day long, but they don't stay there.

I would say the blame lies with the liberalization of our justice system. Laws are in place and punishments are in place for those laws. I’m only 21 so I can’t really sit here and say “back in my day”… but seriously. Growing up, I was beyond scared to act up because I was horrified of my parents finding out. My mother demanded respect & was even more heavy on me, demanding that I give it to others. These kids have no parents, no guidance, nobody who cares about them. Nobody is enforcing rules besides the law. Occasionally when they do find a reason to intervene. It’s just sad and ghetto overall.
