I mean, it's very easy to fully laugh along with this whole thing because it's pretty clear his daughter was NOT having "her world destroyed". She'd already been well on her way to breaking down the logic of everything before the conversation even started to realize for herself why it didn't make sense. He's a walking #metoo black hole waiting to happen. Not that I've ever heard anything bad about him, but if you've ever seen the Arrested Development or Horrible Bosses outtakes, you know he can be charmingly irreverent. I feel like he's just _too_ charming. Nobody can be that good looking, and cute, and nice, and reasonable seeming without eventually stumbling up against the universe's ire. It's like he's Socrates meets Odysseus meets Narcissus. He's just screaming for somebody to take him down a peg or three.

This went down exactly the same way between my 8 yr old daughter and my wife, except they weren't in a limo. My wife was putting her to bed one night then called me upstairs to talk to her after the fact. The blood had left my wife's face at the fact of ruining her Christmas for the rest of her life within 5 minutes. Girls are so bright! I told my daughter that Santa was real and his spirit of giving lives on through Christmas memories of parents and caregivers to their little ones. That's even more amazing than a magical sleigh.

Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. On a vacation trip, my 7 yr. old daughter asked the exact same three questions. Great memories from years ago. Now she's 40 and went through same scenario with her brood. It's lying but for the good. We always say that the spirit of the three characters is definitely alive...and fun!

I agree that if they are old enough to ask, they are old enough to get a straight answer. My struggle is when a 4 year old is told by an arrogant 11 year old (or through media) that Santa is not real. Perhaps the answer lies in one's larger approach to imaginativee play. FYI, my daughter did not believe in faeries, then she saw one in the garden.

I had to rewatch Ozark for the 3rd time to prepare for Season 4 n he’s just so damn likable. I’ve liked Homie my entire life. I’ve seen everything he’s been in even like After School Specials n stuff.
To everyone surprised/questioning that an 11 year old believed in those things still, when I was in grade six so 11, a girl in my class started crying and yelling at us because we were talking about how old we were when we discovered that Santa/Easter bunny/etc. weren’t real and that girl was actually 12.
Isn't innocence great. I think kids are pushed, and rushed to grow up to quickly. Let them live a little, and have some imagination, & magic in their lives.
