!6 years ago this race - and Nick Willis I remember you, always in the pic but never on Gold. This is that Day well done. It seems such a long time ago but never mind that GOLD was yours.
Mottram was NOT tripped, well not on purpose. Yes it was bad luck for Mottram but who is to say Willis would not have won had Mottram not fell over? No-one is a shoe in for Beijing, not even Nick Willis. But I raced against Willis 3 times when we were about 12 and 13. He was in a class of his own back then. So I was not suprised to see him win gold, and won't be if he wins at Beijing. Best of luck Nick
Mottram is hardly a shoe-in for a 1500 gold, even in this field. It's not the classiest race ever but it's a good run by Willis and he may very well have won anyway... I like to think he would have, over this distance.
Well, didn't quite win in Beijing, but it was definitely a moment... Turns out Willis has a Commonwealth title and an Olympic medal, and Mottram is looking rather like he'll never win either. Them's the breaks...
i wouldnt say that. if you look at his record, he won the prefontaine classic in 2007setting the second fastest 2-mile run of all time, beating home great runners like Alan Webb, Tariku Bekele, and some other good Amercian runners. He has also won silver at the commonwealth games and a bronze at the world championships, which is much harder and more prestigious that the comm games. he also holds oceanic records in the mile, 2k, 3k, 2 mile, 5k, and 10km road. willis won because mottram was trippd
absolutely, and i believe its only a matter of time. for a non-african he is one of the worlds best, which is a mighty ask. better to have a medal in the world champs than the comm games though. mottram for beijing!!!
that may be the case but i very much doubt it. mottram has an impressive kick, and he wouldnt have left it to the last 100m to make his move. mottram is by no means a shoe in for anything, but i believe his class and experience would have got him through, had he not been tripped.
Impressive kick it may be, but it never seems to get him home... he's fantastic, obviously, but he's like a lot of football clubs late in the season. He likes a good run, but he never wins anything.
lol, he only won coz mottram fell over!! i like how that idiot commentator said that the kiwi managed to keep out of trouble. Mottram was tripped, he didnt just fall over himself! what a wanker! must be a slightly hollow victory. mottram will eat him alive in beijing!!!! MOTTRAM FOR GOLD!!!!

Yeah I know, it's lovely, but I'd like him to win a "title". I'm sure you would too.
Giddy up Little Willis!

i dont think they will race in beijing. Mottram will be doing the 5km i believe.

0077725 I know your comment is a decade old but you were wrong. Mottram flaked out and Willis won silver. Willis the GOAT
