Andy Badeley had an absolutely horrendous record of failures when it came to championship racing. For a sub 3.50 miler, without any real "kick" to speak of, he always seemed content to let the races happen to him rather than put it to everyone else with 2 laps out and make it a test of strength, that way I think he could have medalled.
