I have a separate area for die cutting and embossing that isn’t even in my art room… it is a little less convenient than I’d like but my art supplies surpasses the storage area on shelves in the art room🫤 Your new organization is quite inspiring for me. I have posca pens but not a convenient storage solution. ❤Thanks for sharing so many ideas and new books, supplies, etc! I’m a big fan of Robyn McClendon and Elizabeth St. Hilaire and I always look out for your videos as well for my dose of abstract playtime🥰
Hey Denise! Love your studio tour with all the cool updates. Especially love that baby sewing machine and the book about fiber arts and where your art journey may take you in the future. I got my sewing machine out last week and have been toying with the idea of incorporating some hand and machine stitching into my collage. Isn’t that fun to think that we are on the same path on our art journeys? 😁 P.S. I am really enjoying your journal class on skillshare. I just ordered some binding supplies so I can make the big mixed media journal and now I’m thinking I might have to throw in some extra fabric substrates so I can do some stitching. If any of you readers out there are interested in book binding and thinking of taking this class, I highly recommend it!
Just a suggestion here: think about adding some plastic or cardboard dividers to your Neocolor II tin and separate the colors by warm, cool and neutrals. That way it would be easier to find the color you need.
What a fun video and a wonderful haul. You are so fortunate to have all that space in spite of the fact that you think it’s not enough. It’s never enough! I work in my kitchen, so there is nothing nearby. I have all these supplies that I forget about. I have a set of those blender brushes from another company. I use them when I am using ink pads for blending. One of the great things about them is that you don’t really have to clean them. I just take them and rub them back-and-forth against the paper towel and voilà. Some wonderful books too… I have Robyn’s book and it has some great techniques. If you ever feel so inclined, I would love to see you do a mixed media piece that also includes fabric.
Ah! Too funny, I just got that Gel Plate Printing book recently! It's really cool! And I have that Fragmentation and Repair on my list lol... glad to hear you like it, now I'll probably get it.
Interesting timing regarding the sewing machine. I have sewing for years and recently get back into painting. I have been thinking lately that I would love to sew scraps into collage landscapes. Regarding space, I have a small area for art. Storage and accessibility are always an issue. If I don’t see it, I forget about it. I really appreciate the importance of making materials accessible.
Hello Denise, so great to see you. Don’t know why but i’ve stopped receiving YT notifications for your videos. So glad to see you ❤ i know your pain, i have so much great stuff and materials that i love but i am so limited on space. My art space has become my workplace since covid so you can imagine… and the hubby, one night, told me, I miss you babe, you are always in your office to paint… so now i work on a tv dinner table in the den. So i have to decide in advance what materials to bring. So much for spontaneous art. But, i like being with him so… long story short.. i am definitely interested in this video maybe i’ll find something to help. Love you.
Boo TH-cam! I hate that it stopped showing you notices… I post on wed and Sunday… and then other days if I have something fun to share. So glad to see you again! Hopefully some of the storage ideas help. Maybe a rolling cart of all your favorites would be good - then you could have a few extra things handy on the cart for the spontaneity! 😊
I always get soooo inspired by your hauls Denise! It's kind of comforting to know that you suffer the same temptations I do...books, colour, textures...ahhh we want them all. I bought the Shelley Rhodes books a while back..theres a few in the series. They are fantastic!! Love the feel of the covers ❤❤❤. Great video.😊 let's start bookaholics anon!!
This is interesting timing. I'm also contemplating rearranging my studio so that everything is closer at hand and more visible so I remember what I have, especially the things I don't use quite as often. And great idea to combine all your NeoColor II crayons in that lovely old tin! This is something I have to do... I use them a lot now and just love them, and a smaller tin would be a good solution. I have been seeing that colour chart book being advertised. I don't know why I find it so appealing, but I guess I just love colour, and colour combinations. And I have been watching Robin McClendon for a while, so hopefully one of these days I'll get her book. Another great video, Denise!
I love to rearrange about once a year maybe more to make it things easier when I notice I have an issue going on! You should totally go for it!! I love it! That color chart book is so cool to just look at! Thank you! 🥰
I always enjoy your art haul videos. I am glad you have to re-arrange your studio to fit all your new toys. I seem to spend quite a bit of time doing this, so it's reassuring it's not just me. Also the blending brush is lovely to use through a stencil it gives a really fine texture. Keep the videos coming.
I love to flip through your new books with you! I too should be in a Books Anonymous program. You reminded me of a book I already have: The Sketchbook Explorations. Thanks for sharing the changes you made in your studio. I am looking forward to the video where you use your new sketchbox and stencils.
Ohhhh the books! ♥️ I saw a glimpse of many things that looked so interesting. I’m sensing some new creative ideas in the future - can’t wait to see what you teach us next! 😊
Ms. Denise! I ❤ what you do in all you videos. This video is inspiring me to get my Art Shed together😅 I'm new to Art/ painting, coming from a photographic background myself. Thanks for all you do it's very helpful.
I have always said that you are my sister from another mother..and again we are on the same wavelength without even knowing it. I have also recently started exploring working & bringing textile onto my art. Can't wait to see what you plan to do!! So exciting. Thank you for sharing those books. They look awesome!
I saw a very neat exhibition by tracey emin in Austria where she had her charcoal drawings embroidered, but sewing would be cool too…it was really neat to see a contemporary style mixed with a traditional medium.
I’m amazed how much you have stored in your art room. You may have to make your art room a master bedroom and make your master bedroom your art room? The book on the gelli plate is very interesting. I love art haul day. Blending brushes are very popular in card making for ink blending backgrounds. They are great for using with ink pads and stencils. They come in all sizes but the little one you have is used for getting into small areas. To clean it, I rub it on a fiber towel (like the yellow one you use). Don’t wash it as the bristles can become hard. Thanks for sharing, Denise.🤗
I got some good tips on organizing my art supplies. My space is very limited and I have to keep my supplies in order. Always a pleasure watching your videos. Thanks for sharing.
Love these organization videos! I also have a 10 x 10 bedroom studio and am constantly re-arranging to suit what I am doing at the moment. I am interested in learning watercolor and gouache to add to my art practice and this was so helpful! I would also love to see some introductory tutorials on watercolor and gouache!
I’ve re arranged this room a dozen times since starting my creative business… figuring out every year how to make my space keep working for me is kinda fun! 😁
Denise love your setup! You may have already seen or heard about the create room dream box 2. I was fortunate enough that my hubby bought me one last year for birthday and Christmas. If i could post a pic i would! Its awesome! Thought you might want to check it out!
Your videos are excellent not seen a bad one yet and very much doubt I will. I really find your style infectious and adore it when you get excited about something. Thank you for this video some great mediums and ideas here.
GF, our minds have had a mind meld session haul. However, I really committed to getting the stains from pattipockets, I went all out and can't wait to use them. I'm glad you showed the wooden paint holder for the wall. I have a nice blank wall between 2 windows in my room. I'm still working hard on recovery butook so forward to getting back to my art room. I've been collecting fenton white milk cream bowls to hold my oil and soft pastels ect. I love the color chart book. I got that in March and really have enjoyed it so much. I can look at color theory making color wheels. Great minds.....❤
Thank you for sharing. Now I have a cart full in Amazon! You seem to be heading where Ice started exploring with collage and stitching on backgrounds. Very interesting!!
Love this video! Thank you for sharing your ideas for organizing. I am almost done with the build of my studio and can’t wait to get my supplies in and setup. I will definitely be using your tips from this video and your studio tour video!!! 😊
Wow this is great the way you set this up. I was happy to see your gift from your friend , that came from the Netherlands. That just must be so special to you. Have fun!
I love the books! I can't wait to see some fabric art! You had me cracking up with your descriptions of the "mammoth machine" and fur blankets. 😂 Those would be funny band names.
I love your Haul videos full of yummy art goodies, but like you I have a small studio space,so making it more efficient and more easilly accesible of all my materials, brushes, etc is something I'm always refining,so the time of this video is grear, I label everything,so I know I can go to aparticularcabinett/drawer for all the things I use and use the most. I have that same book on the history of colour palettes, and it is a beautiful book it really is and a fascinating read too,but it also inspires me in my work and putting colour palletes together as well.I do fel being artists somw how affects our buying art books of any kind, because wee lok at them through artist's eyes if that makes sense and can see how they can inspire us.(matt) P.s I need to re-organise my Neo-colour II collection too,so maybe a trip to my local action house for a vinrage tin might be in order......
@@2lilowlsstudio I agree Art books are a bit addictive! and pigments ground by windmills is way cool, and imbues them with a sense of history too. I love Arteza Metallic gouache and acrylics and they are affordable(matt)
Great haul! I'd also love to add in some textile art, but using a sewing machine intimidates me! I'd like to see some basic sewing for mixed media 101 videos, if that's a direction you'd want to go in, esp. since that new machine seems like a good choice for mixed media art with its small size and affordable price.
I think I’m really going to like the machine. I don’t think I’m interested in teaching sewing online though. We’ll see. Might be easier to just take an in person class local to you. 😊

Oh cool! I’ll check them out! I have had a love/hate with my machine for years… but I feel the itch to work with pretty fabrics coming back 😁 Thank you! 🥰
Thank you for the video Denise. Loved the haul and unboxing. Good kit. Also liked the room organisation update. Looking good. Until next time. Take care. :)
Love this video. I like your storage ideas. I am also always looking for better ways to store things. I have one room in my daughter's house for mine and my husband's bedroom /art studio so space is a factor. Love the sewing machine. I love batik fabrics. You should check those out. They are gorgeous to incorporate into your art. They have them at Joanns, Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Hope you have a great day.😊
Thank you for sharing the books on collage, I was curious but hesitant-but hubba hubba lol! I’m moving toward collage and I have my fingers crossed you’ll get into some ideas, too.
You are so fun to watch, your excitement is contagious! I have been struggling to find a place to keep my sewing machine in my craft room because I love adding stitching to things but I have so far not been successful…I am inspired to try again.
Over the moon with joy for your continued progress in refreshing your art space into one you love even more💞 Also rather ecstatic to see you have Robyn's gorgeous book and the stains. Her book excites my soul...visually and in my imagination. I've got the crayons on my wish list...quick question...do these need to be set with spray after working? As always, it's fabulous to spend time with you🎊
So glad you enjoyed the haul! Thank you! 🥰. I don’t fix those. You can if you need to. I don’t fix anything but the soft ones or the oil ones. Some people fix everything. Here is a video I did on how I preserve pieces: th-cam.com/video/_E0I0FjbnXw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_ffYx4FFOH2aTJCz
The hero brush is the only thing here familiar to me, as my main hobby is card making. They are primarily used for blending ink, meaning pick up color (usually feom an ink pad) and spreading it onto paper. They are AWESOME with stencils! And I have come to the same conclusion about having supplies readily available/in reach. Too much of my space is covered with STUFF, and I need to do some serios reorganizing/purging. *sigh*
Love how you reorganized. How fun to get so many new art supplies!! There's nothing better. lol Quick question, I have not tried gouache but have heard that they don't re-wet well...but maybe that depends on why type they are - I've heard there are watercolor gouache and acrylic gouache. Do the Arteza ones rewet well? Thanks!
Also wondering about reconstituting the gouache. When I purchased mine I didn’t realize they were acrylic gouache (Arteza) and really haven’t used them.
I don’t think you can do the acrylic gouache like I’ve done these. You can’t re-wet acrylic. I got the other set of theirs that does not say acrylic on it.
So far in all my testing it has been good. Just has basic stitches like straight and zig zag - but that was exactly what I wanted. It is a singer, and my old machine is a singer - so I didn’t even need to look at set up - basically matches my other machine and was easy to set out and start sewing. Did 3 layers easily for me earlier too. I think I’m going to really like the convenience of a small machine I can just set on my art table when I want to stitch.
Hi Denise! I was wondering how those art tool kit pallets would hold the kaki pans. I bought the metallic gold set of six and the box is falling apart. I thought one of those metal pallets would be cool for them. Have you tried that?
I just checked. Those pans are thicker than the art tool kit palettes. The art toolkit ones are very slim and the kuretake ones are twice as tall. They do fit in the Amazon 20 wells palette I have below in the description. You can just take the empty pans out and put yours in. 😊
Fun!
Thank you! 🥰

Thank you Denise 🤗
The hero brush is the only thing here familiar to me, as my main hobby is card making. They are primarily used for blending ink, meaning pick up color (usually feom an ink pad) and spreading it onto paper. They are AWESOME with stencils!
And I have come to the same conclusion about having supplies readily available/in reach. Too much of my space is covered with STUFF, and I need to do some serios reorganizing/purging. *sigh*
Thanks for the info! I’ve never used the brush! I’m looking forward to experimenting with it!! 😊
My Holbein gouache re-wet fine. The Arteza ones are still drying… so I’ll definitely be experimenting with them! 😊
I don’t think you can do the acrylic gouache like I’ve done these. You can’t re-wet acrylic. I got the other set of theirs that does not say acrylic on it.
OMG and the color chart BOOK❓❓❓❓❓. Oh man that’s my fave, watching swatching videos‼️. Weird or no❓❓❓
That book is so cool! You’d love it!! 🎨
I’ve been considering buying a small sewing machine also for fiber arts. How does it sew. Only has to be good enough for artful stitching.
Arteza gouache is not lightfast so they are great for crafts and practice so long as you don’t sell works made with it. 🌸
Good to know!

Thank you! 🥰
Its a shame that gouache doesnt come in pans
Right? Oh well 😊
What does your shirt say please 😊
It’s a book t-shirt “Emotionally attached to fictional characters” and has a stack of books next to the words 😁
@@2lilowlsstudio So cute!! I thought for sure it would say art supplies!! 😂 You help me with my art shopping addiction 😁
