Trials of Mana is VERY story and character-rich, so I think fellow readers would love that, too! I know I do! It's definitely a fave (ESPEC with the GORGEOUS visuals in the 3D remake)!
@@rosarioreads Ofc! On the Nintendo Switch, at least (not sure which platform you play), there's a free demo, too, 4-5 hours long! That's what got me hooked! (AND the game is actually on SALE rn digitally for $20!) Trials of Mana (3D remake) is a super fun real-time combat JRPG with amazing story and heartfelt characters and BEAUTIFUL visuals (WITH a Beginner difficulty, my beloved - this was my first JRPG ever, so this was a DELIGHT and godsend)! HIGHLY recommended! One of my fave games I've EVER played! :D
It literally sounds like it ticks all the boxes for a game readers would love! I keep being told I need to play Jrpgs because the stories and characters are always so compelling. I'm downloading the demo to my switch now, you've sold it to me haha 🫢😀
@@rosarioreads Indeed! As a VORACIOUS reader, I can't recommend it enough! I am told to play JRPGs all the time, too, but my problem is, SO many of them are turn-based, and no offense, but I can't STAND turn-based games! So when I found TOM and it was real-time, I was STOKED and jumped in! Hooked from there! lolol. I hope you enjoy it! No pressure, but I'd LOVE to know what you think when you've gotten a good feel for it! (PS - Feel free to pick any team you want, ofc, but I'd HIGHLY recommend the team of Hawkeye, Charlotte, and Riesz! They're the team I chose, just 'cause I liked their stats and looks together, haha, and I only found out later that they're the most popular/beloved team in the fandom, haha, and it's easy to see why once you really get into the game! Their stories and characters mesh together beautifully! :D)
Other games I recommend for story is Drakengard 3 and the Nier games. Games with Visual Novel elements like the Ace Attorney games are easy to get into.
Ahhhh I absolutely looooved life is strange!! I need to play life is strange true colours, it’s not life is strange 2 is it? I’m honestly a sucker for multiple ending games these recommendations sound so good
Ahh it's so good isn't it!!! It's a bit confusing, there's a Life is Strange 2 which is different to True Colours. I haven't played 2 yet because it doesn't get very good reviews 🫢 But True Colours is amazing, I defo recommend if you loved the first one!! 🥰
I actually disagree that there's a big overlap with readers and gamers. Reading books is my second favorite thing to do and I thought that reading was considered a nerdy hobby too but apparently not. I've been in book clubs and follow book tubers, but the energy or vibes feel very different. I kinda feel like I don't belong in the book community sometimes. I will say I don't feel the sane way between gamers and anime fans. They both give off the same energy to me and usually people partake in both same for tabletop players, or Yu-Gi-Oh, while I don't see that being the case with book readers. Like Tomorrow Tomorrow and Tomorrow was a very recent popular book but every person I've met who has read or I caught reading it don't play video games. Same with Slay when that came out. They feel like two separate communities to me.
Thank you for your thoughts! What I mean by overlap is that I think many readers would actually enjoy a lot of games, especially where there are strong story elements - that there is an overlap in the things readers enjoy (strong storytelling, narrative directions etc.) that can also be found in a lot of games if they give them a chance! I do really agree with you that gamers and readers do feel like two very separate communities, despite there being similarities. I hope in the future that can change, as I love both communities! Funnily enough, the inspiration for this video came from noticing a lot of booktubers I watch casually mentioning what games they were playing. It makes me think a lot of readers casually play games, but don't go as far as considering themselves as gamers.
I can see what you mean, because readers are such a broad group. I do think RPG gamers are more likely to be readers, but not that readers are likely to be gamers. This has been my experience around both types of friend groups.
Yeah defo RPG gamers are more likely to be readers, as opposed to say primarily FPS gamers! I find a lot of readers are also more likely to be cosy gamers, especially ones who don't read much fantasy/speculative fiction.
You might like Final Fantasy 7 and the remake. I love them for the story and characters.
Ooh I have heard good things about 7 and am keen to play it! It's on my list of games to play!

Ooh thank you for the recommendation! I haven't actually heard of that game before 🙈 but definitely going to check it out now! 🩷🙌🏽
