I think rather than have the settings reset after every major patch they should just show the new menu the first time it appears then go back to your custom ones and/or have a button in the bottom left in the news panels that immediately turns your background to the event one if you click on it with an option to revert to your previous one
I like it the way it is, having the menu background change with events and stuff makes me feel time passing with the game and it feeling fresh and new. Having them be limited time makes them seem more special too. Your video is well put together all well as your proposal.
something i really love about cs2 was how they put the agents in an area of whatever map you set. It'd be cool for example to put ana (with whatever skin/weapon skin) on throne of anubis instead of it just being art in the background. Would take some work but would look dope as hell

When you're making the hero filters, it's worth checking the backgrounds on 21:9 resolution. For instance, Junkrat is in the Le Sserafim art off to the left side - visible in ultrawide, but not in 16:9
I'm glad you addressed the idea of new seasons and events, and I agree there should be a default override when those happen. You'd just have to make sure the player's selected favorites stayed starred

Really great concept, hope something like this can get added. Maybe they could even put backgrounds in the battle pass like fortnite or sell premium ones in the store if they want to make some money as well. They could do the same with music.
Great idea. The features I want to be added in the game is the possibility to change the background of Hero Gallery, like swapping the Default OW shooting range BG to Hanoaka then Eichenwalde then Necropolis, Busan Day and Busan Night

Also, maybe an additional setting could be adding how often you'd like yours to change in the randomizer setting. I think a better way to get people to see the new event screen is instead of it reseting, the first time you boot up the game when an event is out the screen will show, and than after your first game is over it goes back to the way you had it

This is an awesome idea, my only criticism is that the main menu does not need another button. It is already cluttered with duplicate buttons such as Social and Challenges. These belong to the Customization tab within the Career Profile; alongside player icons, name cards, and player titles. The one button the main menu DOES need is Options. As of right now, you have to open a menu WHILE IN THE MAIN MENU to access Options.
this is a great concept! :) id never take widow off of my menu lol being able to customize a hero silhouette icon with custom colors in a similar format would be really awesome too, those are the two biggest things ive always wanted for player customization

I really miss the Winter Wonderland 2016 event menu, because this is when I first tried the game...I have never felt this good about a videogame before (or since) in my life.
You actually can change the backgrounds i saw it on a video on you have do it through your game launcher and click on the three dots or something like that
You mentioned the Menu presets, and that reminded me of an issue I saw with the skin preset itself. If you try to create a preset where only your favorite red skins will randomly appear, and at the same time another preset where only your favorite green skins will randomly appear; It will not be possible. This is because regardless of which Preset you use, be it A, B or C, they all share the same skins that you favorited And congratulations on your content, your ideas are very good and it would be great if Blizzard implemented any ideas you had. These settings would add a great quality of life improvement to the game.

I think one big reason they don't keep around old menus (and thus limited the "exploit" that sets your main menu background) is just that some of these take up a *lot* of space due to either being high definition images (so you can see all the details) or full-on scenes If we get a few new screens every season, and a new season is every 2 months, keeping every main menu screen would rapidly bloat the game's filesize, which is why they're removed. The solution to this is to just, have a select few, and optimize them as best you can, or even make wholly unique ones just for the menus, but having Every Single One would be bad for file size
You have some of the best ideas, and I, and many other people, would love to see this stuff in-game. But I doubt blizzard will do anything about it and keep pushing Reinhardt skins in the shop.
This consept with the search for group option could possibly bring back the ow1 identity to the menu. They already trying to make the menu more like ow1.
A better way for the new colabs and what not I think would be to have it switch to the new screen and music the first time you load up the menu after an update and after that switch back to your personalized settings

Yeah the hero on the main menu would use a skin you currently have equipped, I just prefer to use default skins for videos. Should've mentioned that :p
A complete reset of player background choices may be a bit much, unless I misunderstood. Perhaps it can be forced to default upon launching the game for the first time during an event or season, then after playing a few games it reverts back to the player's custom settings. Still, great video and concepts that I hope can get added! Such flavor!

The fact that this guy is putting more effort into the game than their own developers is amazing and frustrating at the same time.

I really miss the moving backgrounds especially for showcasing the mythic skin on a new season, they stopped that in the Moira mythic one :/
