Before even watch your video I had a very rough life. Anyway, if I wasn’t on Xanax, I wouldn’t be able to work. I would have to be on disability. And I really don’t want to be on disability. So for me, it’s a lifesaver.
That's sad man but I now the feeling I've been on them for 8 years.. if you ever trying 2 stop ( only if u want or you're doc is gone..) use cbd or smoke (pure) cannabis this reduce your chances of seizures good luck
@@Rustyschackelford237 yikes. Yeah that’s a lot. I think about 4 mg a day and I am a drive lift operator. It literally just makes me feel normal and if I don’t take it I’m jittery and I don’t operate machinery well.

I wish this guy would talk more about dosages. Taking .25 mg of Xanax is very different from a 2 mg regimen, and how long you're on it for, etc...
Thank you, Doctor! For me, I take .25 mg as needed - but when it's needed it's a life saver for me and helps with severe panic disorder, even sleep and allows me to function. I do not feel any major side effects but as noted - I only use when needed - maybe a few times a month. Fortunately, I do not drive any longer and live downtown in a major US city so use public transportation so no risk there.

This is how it becomes dangerous. Most people are prescribed this medication after experiencing a chain of anxiety attacks. With good intentions, most people begin using them only during an attack. After realizing how helpful it can be, people make the mistake of using for more reasons than just anxiety attacks. They begin using them to avoid stress, to help sleep, etc. They start taking them in the same fashion as you might have a glass of wine. Before you know it, your addicted. Benzos are horrible, and extremely dangerous coming off them. If you've experienced opiate withdrawals, benzos are 1000 times worse. Your blood pressure spikes. You have extreme episodes of depression. Your anxiety attacks will quadruple, or in some cases begin happening daily. Your thought process changes. You become physically ill. You can literally die from benzo withdrawels. My advice, even if it only saves one person who reads this. If you're prescribed xanax or any kind of benzo, your goal should be to only take them if absolutely needed. Don't make the mistake of turning them into a daily treatment. Obviously if your battling with DAILY panic attacks attacks and anxiety I understand. But if that's not the case, using them should be your last resort as a solution. Good luck everyone. Thank you. I was prescribed to take 1 tablet of xanax at bedtime. But will only take if it really needed. It’s already night time here and thinking of taking it for the first time but after reading this, I wont
@popoloind they can be brutal. I was prescribed them for a year and they completly changed me. You begin to rely on them daily, and when you don't take them, all of the issues that led to you taking them to start, amplify 1000 times worse. They 100% change you. Your anxiety gets 1000 times worse, your blood pressure sky rockets, and the withdrawals can last for months. It took me 6 months to get back to normal and those 6 months were hell. Dealing with a barrage of anxiety attacks, blood pressure thru the roof, having multiple seizures, night after night of no sleep. I did it cold turkey which is stupid, it can kill you, but I was so tired of all the negative effects I just did it. They are so dangerous, doctors will ween you off slowly to reduce the risk of side effects that can kill you. I completely understand taking it daily if you have severe anxiety and attacks, but if you're able to only take it when absolutely needed, it can literally save you from so many negative effects.
Can i take xanax on SoS basis? I have insomnia and don't want to get addicted to any medication... however, sometimes when i don't get sleep for 3-4 days straight, i have to pop up a zolpidem 10 or alpazolam 0.5 ... and i get 6 hours sleep... so can i get addicted to drugs even if i take them with a gap of 2-3 days or so???
@shashnksharma2840 I think it comes down to paying attention to your mindset. If your only taking it when the levy breaks, I think you'll be fine. But if you start noticing your looking forward to it, or or you start using it just to make the day better, that's when it goes down hill.

For the past couple of years, I've been having panic attacks and anxiety when in certain situation. I don''t take it if I feel okay. Like today, I had to go to the dentist (I hate the dentist). It makes me very anxious and nervous, so I took a Alprazolam 1mg I believe. It calmed me down and I was able to get through it. I also sometimes feel very stress and anxious when taking the NYC Subway for some unknown reasons. It's random. I get scared that some crazy person will start shooting or push me to the train tracks, which has been happening alot in NYC ever since COVID. I have to take a pill when that happens otherwise I can't function at work. It does make me sleepy/drowsy but it calms me down and if I don't, I feel like I will get a heart attack. I am in my mid 40's so I hope it's just some mid-life crisis I am going through. I don't take Alprazolam alll the time, only when needed.
Xanax is prescribed for more than just anxiety and sleep. I have Essential Tremor (head and hands) which started 50 years ago. It’s a neurological disorder that progresses over time. I’m now 71 and it’s gotten really bad. My neurologist prescribes .25 mg to take as needed. I’ve used it for years and I’m not addicted. I only take it in certain situations if I REALLY need my head and hand tremors to calm down.
Xanax is not good for sleep. I shouldn't say this because I live in a prohibition state. Marijuana with a moderate THC content and high CBD content works better for acute insomnia. We had a case here where maintenance dug in my dresser and found 4 grams of marijuana. They called Sugar Land police and the cop said there is nothing they can do because of expectation of privacy. Not liking that maintenance called the sheriff. The sheriff told them the same thing so they called the constables. I was given a summons to appear in court. Basically a republican judge dismissed the case and said maintenance had no business in my dresser. The constable who gave me the summons didn't seem to be enthusiastic about it either.

@@chemist77 I have a neurological disorder called Essential tremor. It causes tremors like in people who have Parkinson’s but it is an entirely different disorder. I’m prescribed Xanax by my neurologist at the lowest dose available. I use it only as needed for certain situations, like today when I had to use a needle and thread to repair some clothes. Because it’s not something I take all the time my dose has stayed the same-.25 mg.
I use it daily for insomnia unless I have had alcohol. I've had chronic insomnia for 12 years and trazadone and this help can't sleep without them
I never have those side effects. Thank for that.
Xanax is a good drug when used correctly. The problem is overprescribing. I hurt my back once and had spasms that took my breathe away. The specialist wrote a prescription for 5 days of xanax xr and 30 days of celicoxib. Xanax for spasms and cramps has way less side effects than gabapentin.
My son was killed 4 th June 2022. The Doctor put me on them I am struggling to get off them I have tried but I am a mess 😢 they definitely work but it’s a mask… I have new Doctor now and she going to help me I believe better.
I take one as needed for severe anxiety. By as needed I can make 30 pills last 3 to 6 months and sometimes a year . I only use it for extremely stressful situations
I have been taking it daily since mid October. .5 milligrams to 1 milligram. I quit smoking almost 5 months ago, and the anxiety gives me shortness of breath. It’s scary.

It can be a life saver or a taker. If you've taken it for maintenance over a long period of time. Have some put back in case you get cut off. It's a long ruff road without a cushion.

Hmm. I’m slow tapering a 20+ yr Xanax dependency, with 2 previous, horrific CT/fast tapers. Was up to 6 mg day; now down to 1.5. Originally prescribe for anxiety/panic attacks and never abused them. But I NEVER EVER got some of the side effects U mentioned: dizzy, sleepy, can’t drive a car. Sounds like the dose was too large or person is using recreationally. Xanax calmed me down, still does although not 4 long as I slow taper. I mean, I never woulda taken them in the first place if they acted like opioids - they’re anxiolytics, not really sedatives. Helped me cope during stressful times. Except no one told me about tolerance & dependency. Aargh. Had Xanax turned me into a stoner zombie, I never woulda taken them. In retrospect, wish they had bc I wouldn’t be having to deal with getting off this drug at age 70. Oh, also no memory loss, dementia, clumsiness. In fact, reflecting on ppl I’ve known who have Xanax available to them (fear of flying), can’t think of anyone who ever nodded out on them.

Thanks for the video doctor. For me its a very slippery slope with klonopin use (an alternate benzo with longer half life and similar effects). On one hand a small dose of .25 is enough to very significantly ease my anxiety, inhibition and boost confidence to the point that I've found I perform pretty much everything at a higher level. Im talking from sports, to public speaking, to even being more of a pleasure for my family and friends to be around. I have had anxiety as long as I can remember and what's tough for me to accept about this medication is I can't use it as frequently as I'd like, as it could significantly advance my life, but I'm pretty much terrified of the long term effects that could one day begin if I was to persistently use it. On the other hand I've tried CBT, meditation, nootropics, buspar, SSRIs, propranolol, I'm in great shape and always exercise but nothing has made me as affective as a small dose of a benzo. I wish I were able to use it more consistently but sadly I may just have to accept never hitting my full potential that I have experienced on the medication without the medication. Is what it is I guess. Would love to hear your thoughts

Xanax is a very effective drug. Great Video by the way! While I personally don't subscribe to the more & more aspect or possible overdose issues, the medicine is poison. An ill advised discontinuance & withdrawal along with a wild week in the Hospital gave me a new look on the subject. I still take it
I've been using alprazolam for 14 years. I have a prescription for .5 mg but I cut them in half. I take .25 mg. I take a .25 mg dose once every 12 hours for 2 days then I stop for 4 or 5 days then start again. This strange regimen seems to keep my anxiety under control which can sometimes build to the boiling point if left untreated. I hoard the unused pills because sometimes a Dr won't agree to refill my prescription
I only take half of 1mg and it does the job.when im really haven't alot of stress and panic attacks i take the whole pill just once a day or if i feel good ill just take half.i think its just about self Discipline and not abusing them
Try not taking them.. its hell I recommend if you try or want 2 stop use high doses of cbd & smoke ( pure ) cannabis due this helps prevent seizures .. good luck

you’re almost right, however rebound symptoms or withdrawal symptoms are not caused by lack of gaba but from the downregulation of gaba-a receptors. as per professor ashton there is enough gaba just not enough receptors for the gaba to attach to.

I know someone who has been taking Alprazolam daily for decades and he has occasional aggressive bouts. He also can say random strange offensive things.
For a long time I didn't know why he behaved that way until I found out he was addicted to Alprazolam.
He has no experience of taking Xanax. He simply read things out from a textbook.

info that it exists system almost as fast as it comes in confirmed my recent use change (self), that is, take it after i sense i am sleepy, not to make me sleepy. that change has made a significant difference in sleeping. taken too soon and i just as well not take it. have used it for 20 years. anxiety wise, occasional/rare half doses helpful. addicted? possibly but have never increased the use. "fear" of not having it to sleep, yes. nothing else has worked as well and at least one prescription sleep aid gave me nightmares. thank you for the info.

I've been on .50 mg to help with stress/insomnia. I take it as needed before bed for a few days...and then stop because it stops serving it's purpose. Doctors tried to give me something else, but it knocked me off my butt and i couldn't get out of bed.

Xanax is a great benzodiazepine that is hard to get here in the UK doctors will not give it out at all, but all in all, it has to be respectively used I'm 1mg a day but thinking of spreading it out to only Mon, Wed, Friday as benzo's stay in the system for days and even weeks I've been told, so safely does it yeah 👍🏻

I have been on Xanax since 1981, that is over 40 years. My doctor put me on 10.5 mg per day. I was doing fine until the new dum doctors stopped my Xanax. I never increased the dosage. Also, the side effects you talk about are why a person starts taking it.

I'm taking Xanax by psychiatrist prescription, for 2nd weeks. Take 0.5mg in the morning together with Lexapro coz I'm dealing with MDD as well. I get panic attack almost everyday. I'm working so whenever I start to feel the attack coming, it's helpful to keep me calm n breathing as usual, but I need to take a nap during working hour. It calms me down quite instantly compare to Clonazepam which I take at night before sleep. I hope I don't get too dependant to Xanax..
You will become very dependent on Xanax if you take it everyday. Hardest thing I’ve ever done is come off this drug. Don’t take it.

For me even 10 MG diazepam doesn't do the job of 0.5 xanax it just makes me drowsy while xanax not

If "they" weren't making fake ones from pill presses with fentanyl in moderation Xanax would save a lot of nerves! The fact that so many fake ones are going around everywhere is unfortunate. The epidural I had with my daughter effected my back but when I would get an actual real Xanax that nerve in my back would release the knot that has now formed. It's a bummer bc it is physically effected my everyday life due to the back pain I now have do to the epidural.
