Dear Dennis, we love your channel too. Reviews on tools are as much important as doing any projects, cause it gives you new ideas and approaches to many steps how to do things better. It is your choice if you want to buy a tool or not, and there are many other companies that offer such tools, you have only to compare and get your choice. Just a DIY-Build-Channel is not as useful as a channel with tool Reviews! Keep doing so Dennis, we follow you from Germany and Spain! ❤
I love the old Dennis and the new Dennis. Showing us the affordable quality tools is very useful to me as I am elderly and on fixed income. You still produce build videos, granted not that often but you do. Would I like to see more of a mix of reviews and builds yes. This is a response to a post saying that he feels you are an advertising arm to Banggood. Keep doing what you do Dennis. Love your channel.
I agree and being retired in this case of the drill press, I'd rather have one of these than a cheap drill press. I think well clamped it can do just as good a job. My dilema now being retired is that I have a little more time for wood working but less money to throw around. And Banggood is an avenue that allows me to access some pretty good stuff without paying for the name. Good luck Steve!
Agree with the comments before. I heavily enjoy listening to you and watching your videos seeing how fast you grow and improve. I would also like to see more projects with wood or even plywood in terms of workshop furniture. However I must say I bought a lot of stuff from this Chinese shop and I hockt appreciate your effort in exploring and testing the products for your community
I purchased the drill guide amongst other items recently and had a chance to use it on a project. While the guide did a good job in general, as i started to use it all the small set screws fell out of the holes. I heard an odd sound while i was drilling and noticed something fell on the floor. Luckily, i found all 6 set screws and figured out where they came from. I think they need to use some thread lock on this product. I give this tool 4 stars.
Aah! So great to see your newest video. I love your reviews, very professional and with practical advice. I follow a few other channels as well, and yours are always at the top of my list of anticipation, I can't wait for the episodes to air. One day when my ship comes in, I am going to build my dream shop like yours. I love the idea of Shop Greatness and Excellence in ones work. Thanks Dennis, you are one of the greats in woodworking.
Fantastic reviews, Dennis! Thanks a bunch! 😃 About the other comments, I'm here for anything you decide to publish. So, if you decide to make build videos, bring them on! 😊 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Bought the new and improved portable drill press last week. Tried to drill 6 3/8" hole with brad point pit in plywood. Although I got the holes drill there is too much runout and two of the hole were off centered. Going to package it back up and try to return it and get my money back. Give it 3 Stars at best.
@@MicheleAncis Good luck on getting your money back. Been fighting with Bangood for the last two weeks on another order after they sent me the wrong item.
@@MicheleAncis Shame that Dennis keeps a healthy distance from the problems customers have with Bangood, for him it's about making money on the back of his reviews and only paying attention to the 'good' side. This destroys his credibility and impartiality, you have yet I am sure to see a response from him about a post that criticises Bangood customer service.
I had nearly the exact same failure experience: Massive wobble causing massive runout in drilled holes, and other defects. I think @jamesmartin532's points are super-important re: credibility, and loud silence on these problems. I'm also finding it impossible to work with BangGood on a warranty claim, which is shocking -- at this point, I expect to have to just give up on any kind of meaningful solution. Is a bargain tool a bargain, if you end up eating the entire cost?
That is one of the best portable drill stations that I have seen. It’s great to see a company improve on their products. The clamps are GREAT. I have one suggestion for you! State the dimension of the hole or bore that it fits into. I have Kreg Tools. They seem to be odd man out. I will rewatch your video…. I am not sure what size Kreg Tools holes are but they are different and that is not good. WELL DONE once again Dennis.
I remember watching your videos years ago when you first started your channel Dennis. How things have changed since those early days of you posting videos on TH-cam. It has become apparent that the Dennis we used to know and love has morphed into nothing more than an advertising arm for Banggood. I'm glad to have watched your channel become very successful and I hope that your success keeps growing but it'd be great to see the old Dennis make a return. I've bought tools from Banggood in the past but I like to see woodworkers actually build projects and educate at the same time, not just constantly advertise what tools they have in their workshop.
I can understand, but my build videos get hardly 20% of the viewers. So, based on that people like to know how good these more affordable products are. By choosing one firm like Banggood, I get what I want and I can say what I want. Because they know they are the ones that needs to improve the products when they want better reviews. Based on analytics, i get more views and more subscribers with these videos. So, I expected that this is what the majority want. And for me, it is fun to do and creates opportunities like designing my own tools. So, it is also exciting. So, my channel will be about these toolreviews with a critical opinion and improvements for your workshop. And for projects there are luckily 1000 other channels as well
@@HookedonWood To balance out perspectives, as an encouragement, I actually subscribed to Dennis' channel specially for the China tools reviews. I also enjoyed the other workshop building videos, but there are also many other good content creators out there that I follow for works, methods and techniques. With Dennis' channel, I'm often eagerly waiting for the next episode of China tools. I live in Southeast Asia, so as much as I appreciate the brands available in European and North American markets, the most practical and affordable range of products for me are those more accessible in Asia -- so Banggood is a good choice. Getting a good, fair evaluation and critical eye from Dennis on what's genuinely good is very useful for me. Please do keep at this series, Dennis! It has been very beneficial.
@@HookedonWoodDennis I enjoy both types of videos. I hope that if you add more to your shop series you show those projects. I still can’t find colored MDF where I live. I want to redo my shop with blue MDF and BB ply. I’ve bought your entire plan set to use as inspiration for my own particular design.
@@mwoody4560what part of the world do live? I recently went on a search for colored MDF, Valchromat, and phenolic plywood. All materials you see in videos by Dennis and Paoson in their workshop buildout videos. Happy to share if relevant.
Love the video. You do great work and show what the average person can do without purchasing the most expensive tools. Thank you. It's sad that Banggood will not honor the price on the drill guide. They say it is for new buyers only.
I have the rockler drill guide and I would've bought this one had it been available at the time. Also you have to purchase the Rockler rail fence extension separately, and it's not as compact as the rail guides this one comes with. Enjoywood is making some great products!!!
Just got this drill guide. The chuck has an obscene amount of wobble and when I used it the four grub screws fell out! It also arrived scratched to bits as the drill rods had been loose rattling around inside the box. Not a happy bunny
Confirm. There are also some recent videos about the drill guide (the updated version) showing quality problems. Chuck wobble and friction issues between the rods and the mobile part.
Mine was ridiculously wobbly, too, and I bought the "updated" version. Infuriating, really. It should be noted in any complete review that people have reported unusable chucks, sticking plungers, etc. An unusable chuck means a useless device. Has anybody found a high quality chuck to replace it with?
Hi Dennis, as always great job and pleasure to watch again some new items... One comment for Enjoywood Drill Guide, there is missing front / back handle, something like Festool Domino, to hold drill guide more stable when drilling angle holes ;-) unfortunately it is already sold out, maybe you know when will be next production? Thanks for your professional job, all best
Great video Dennis, your reviews are very clear and helpful. It does seem these Chinese tools you are testing are often superb design and quality and they offer value for money which is often lacking in tools made in the US/ UK which is where I’m based. Have a good weekend and please keep up with these videos! 👏👍😀
Thanks for another interesting set of tests. I looked at the drill guide and found these gems a bit lower down the web page: "The orifice sharps are wear-resistant" & "Multi-function adjustable Woodworking hole opener" (Banggood's English is waaaaay better than my Chinese.)
Mooie reviews.
Hey Dennis, About the T-Track-Clamp on the Longer Steel bar. Let's think about to Maschine an M20 Thread on it, and put it in one of the Keystones for Your Felder Slider! Will be Lovely. also the UJK MFT Clamp will Work nicely in there!
I have received the drill guide and it looks and feels nice but it has way too much play. I cannot get straight holes consistently due to the play. I wonder how good is the red brand compared to this one. Very disappointed for the price since it is not a cheap tool. I wonder if I can return it.
Hi Dennis, I got this after watching the video, as it seemed quite a good way to get straight holes drilled in places where a drill press cannot be used. Last week the need finally came up. Unfortunately the unit I got is not of great quality, the chuck wobbles side to side way too much (really a few mm) and the chuck cannot hold to the drill bit when drilling it starts spinning loose (tested with a 8mm drill bit). I am trying to get this refunded, but in the meantime would you like to test it? Perhaps it would be nice to share with people that this product has some quality control issues or something.
Now, would that drill guide be useful for making the MDF tabletop for the workbench? It looks like it would. Also it looks more useful than the L shaped ones as it appears to be well balanced with the drill in it.
If I look at a system like the UJK Parf Guide system, it goes way further to create an accurate grid of dog holes. Is also much more expansive and you can only us it for that purpose. But as I said in all my videos about the dog holes, you not necessary need an accurate grid of dog holes. Most of the time, I do not need the accuracy. (When you use it with a plunge saw, then I think it is worth it) So, to make the grid ass accurate as possible without breaking the bank, I tink it can be a useful tool. You will be able to drill the holes straight. But CNC like accuracy will not be possible.
Another good batch of tools! Do you have a recommendation for a dupe of the Festool hold down clamp for the Kapex? I'd like something like that for another miter saw (either DeWalt or Makita).
My drill guide arrived today, so far it looks pretty good, except unless I'm missing something the depth stop doesn't really function when you install two springs, and one spring isn't strong enough on its own. I think the instructions are for the original version and the pictures are way too small.. and thanks to that I still haven't worked out what the two small plastic washers and the two steel sleeves are actually for.
Dennis, always love your reviews and good advise. In regard to your sound changes, due to the rain, the beginning sound was a little muffled and with your somewhat deep voice, it was a bit difficult to understand you. When you changed the sound settings, the overall sound was cleaner and clearer and it was easier to understand you. To be clear, I am Not referring to any "accent issues", just the sound being muffled, combined with your voice and the result being as though it was garbled, when it was not.
Thanks, I can understand that it makes the voice more articulate. I will try to find a good balance next time. I have pretty good equipment to change the sound, but I understand people lissen these videos perhaps on computer, so the audiospectrum is not that even translated, compared to my equipment. Thanks for your comments, I think it makes sense.
I bought the drill jig. It is not straight. Also, the runout of the drill chuck is imprecise. As a result, the whole thing wobbles, when drilling. A whole drilled by hand without assistance of this tool will likely be straighter than one drilled with it.
I got the orange hold downs and they worked great for a while but now they are slipping in the dog holes and don't hold at all. I wish they had some texture to grip with.
With the Parf guide, the holes sometimes do not turn out perfectly, though they are usable, for the most part. This is why they sell the reamer. If a person did buy the mobile drill guide, and they wanted to use the Parf 20mm bit, or possibly get a bit just for the drill guide as I prefer to keep the Parf Guide, for that tool alone, then one should not need the reamer. Usually the top half of the hole is fine, or the underside was drilled from the back side and does not align perfectly. Just a tip as one could doubtless find a use for both tools, but the drill guide might make the reamer unnecessary, or hold it for a later purchase. This is what I find with my set-up, though I have a different drill guide.
Dennis HELP NEEDED! I enjoy your reviews very much. What do you think is better. Kreg Tools bench dog holes are 3/4”. Festool is 20 mm. I am going to buy a pre made dog hole bench top. Would you purchase a 3/4” dog hole bench top or would you go with style of 20mm.? What should I do? I work in a wheelchair so I really count on reviews like you provide so my decisions are accurate due to problems I have with my brain. I got hit by a drunk driver. It’s getting better! I have saved up enough money to buy your T-Square. Very well done and I am very impressed with your China Tool reviews. I am having so much fun going broke! Good health, family & having fun is all that counts! Thom Schuck, Portland Oregon
Wow, the drill guide seems nice. I have an "old" aluminium drill guide from banggood which (even after some costly optimisations) is utter shite. The only thing I really don't understand is why they're still using those crappy manual tightened chucks with a a round end rather than an half-way decent automatic lock chuck with a hex end... I'm a bit on the fence on taking a 80€ hit to figure out whether I can turn this into a proper tool without too much effort or whether this is going to end up as another drill guide shaped paperweight...
First and foremost: Thank you very much for this and all the videos you make, for the work and effort you put into those. More than once I followed your recommandation. I was wondering if you could compare the drillguide by UJK to the one by Banggood in a future video? Maybe even add the version by Rockler. Considering the price of the UJK and Rockler drill guides, I know that would be quite an investment. But I am quite sure it would be appreciated by a lot of people - not just by me.
At 8:39 and 9:13 in the video, a depth-stop is clearly visible on the drill guide. I wonder why it is removed after that, and you haven't mentioned it as a function of the contraption? Even a cheaper model like the Milescraft 1318 Drillmate (Eur 49,95) has the depth stop function, although it is missing the rail guides.
I wonder why the drill guide has two motor bike handlebars. You can only use one as you other hand has to hold the drill. This would help reduce costs. Also it has poor clamping options which would give a better result. It would be great if it had the option to fix to a saw track to be able to drill a series of holes in a straight line with a clamped down track.
The guide rail option is something to consider. Although you can perfectly align the base against the back of a rail guide. But I agree when connected to a rail guide in any way, makes it even more steady. The base is big enough for clamping (or you have to use a very big bit, but with normal size bits, there is enough space to clamp)
On the basis of your recomendation Dennis, I bought the "improved" drill guide from Banggood. Disappointed to find the bridge sticks on the rods as you demonstrated for the old version. seems to be an issue with the rods alignment rather than the bushings on the bridge.
@@paulcrowley2682 Paul, what did you specifically say in your complaint, to get BangGood to solve it for you so well? I am struggling with the same problem, and I haven't figured out how to communicate with BangGood succesfully yet. I'm not sure they even understand the problem as I've described it. Thanks for any help.
Hi - Just to let you and other youtubers know: I bought the drill guide based on your enthousiastic review, but I must say my piece is an utter disappointment. It rattles when rotating under no load, and the shaft mechanism allows for a good millimeter in both N/S and E/W directions. What a frustrating discovery! I'm never going to buy anything from Banggood again.
Totally appreciate your content which certainly influenced my views in using alternative source to support my retirement hobby. That said, my recent experience with Banggood resulted in a wait of 6 months and the unfortunate ending of NOT getting what I paid for and losing $263 CAD. Not a big deal. Just the principal of the matter. If you ever decide to do a show on the risk of doing business with Banggood or the hilarious customer service who wanted me to phone all Canada Border services ports of entry across 6 time zones than please let me know. I have emails and screen shots of my exchange with Banggood that clearly demonstrates that dealing with them has an inherent danger. Keep up the great videos. Appreciate it.
Don't hold your breath Guy, cant see Dennis wanting to acknowledge your situation, it will hurt his channel and his 'cosy' relationship with Bangood, which is becoming a little toxic..
Sadly i bought the old version of the Drill Guide and while it seems and feels like a quality tool, theres still serious issues with the guide running too tight and you cannot even drill deep enough if you use the spring and depth stop
Definately some very useful tools to consider. Sometimes, if the clamp works better, you need fewer to do the job. Love the drill guide. Thank you for sharing your reviews. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy ☺️ and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Do you cover your workbench lift somewhere? I could not nail down a video, and it does not seem to be in your plans. Workbench height adjustment is probably the single most important bench feature, but the only woodworking tool that seems to have it is the Noden Bench leg, and that one requires the bench to be light enough for an owner to lift to a new height.
No, not yet. I have to make a new top, because this one lacks some features. I will upload a video of that adventure :-) The lift mechanism is something I bought. It is the Felder FAT 300S. Unfortunately, not affordable!
Dank voor je review. Gave klemmen.
Goed punt!
Hi Denis, love your channel but I am not so sure if I can trust you about your Bang Good reviews. I have bought a few tools from them and I was disappointed because of your ratings. I don't know if Bang Good hand picked and checked tools before they send it to you so you received perfect tools that passed quality control check, I can tell you not in my case and many other customers. I received my drill guide a few days ago and was disappointed because brass bushings have too much play. I am not putting blame on you but just want to tell you your ratings of tools It does not matter to me any more. You can't do the business with somebody and not to be biased. I think you are a nice guy but business is business and I do understand that. Best Regards Eddie
The drill guide seems pretty similar to UJK & Rockler's versions, but it actually seems better in one regard: the fact that it has a fence is a big advantage. I have the UJK version, and like it, but UJK missed a trick by not including a fence (or at least a way to add one yourself; there are no holes for guide rods in the base).
The UJK version has an optional add-on base that accepts fences. It is also MUCH bigger and beefier than this drill guide outside of the handles. The UJK rails are twice the diameter. I really wish someone would make a drill guide just like the Woodpeckers Auto Angle drill guide, just not $800.
@@maximusmagni1 I'd pay good money for a base that accepts a fence; like I said, I'm quite happy with the product, but the lack of a fence has really annoyed me. However, I just checked on Axminster's site, and can't see any optional base... where did you find it?
the advantage of Chinese products was the price. it's nice that they are becoming good quality products. But we have the quality that can be found in every store.
I’ve seen a couple of videos now, more and more wondering who is giving advice to me: his communicative skills suggests that he is (or has been, because this channel appears a full time thing) a senior salesperson or a human resource manager rather than a craftsman or a tax- or IT guy or a lawyer or medical professional. His equipment (and age and skills) suggests that he is not dependent on sponsored reviews, but perhaps he can’t help but make everything he touches a commercial success, even if he doesn’t need to. I’m not bringing this up to judge anybody, but to better understand the advice someone is giving me. And because I’m curious.
Hi Dennis. Just a thought, would the T-track version work with a different version of a track insert. I see the are just a long track insert with holes tapped in them.
I thought about that as well. But most of the T-track clamps have that play on the Miter track. Most of them also use a contra contact point, so it will be stable. This one lacks that so, it needs also a bigger T bar so it will not damage your T tracks. So, far I do not like the different T-track solutions.
another great review Dennis! i'll be upgrading my Miles Craft drill guide to this one.....much nicer with added features and the price doesn't break the bank
I used them in specific situations because the aluminum hold down clamp was already easier to use. The Hongdui has an advantage that it clamps inside the hole that will give it more clamping power. Especially in an 18Mm workbench. But because I have a double layer workbench top, or thicker top, these kind of clamps with a shaft give already an impressive clamping force, so it is not necessary to increase that. But for 18mm workbench, and you want some extra clamping pressure, the Hongdui is one of the options to go for. That does not make it the easiest clamp to get. This one will work more convenient.
Hi Dennis! Thank you for showing us the drill guide. I've been looking for one of these but keep hearing stories of how inaccurate they are. I know which one to buy now. Thanks again!
I bought the drill jig. It is not straight and the run out of the drill chuck is imprecise. As shown here: th-cam.com/users/shortsgSq6plpE_0A?si=gQd40CtzF1WuG6zd
Thank you for your video. Not sure what it is about these manufacturers and drill guides...? Simply make them more stable - thicken the guide bars so no more (or very little flex)? I could see in your video how careful you had to be at times, in order to achieve accurate angle holes (and having to drill the hole twice). Not worth purchasing until they are more stable. There are other options on the market - and last time I looked - for not much more than this drill guide. Thank you.
Good point Peter, I think there are some, but they lose the mobility. But for some context. This is a pretty stable drill guide, for what it is. I do not think the 600 dollar woodpeckers will be substantial more stable. I did not say that, because I do not have experience with the woodpeckers, but based on some laws of physics, there must also be some flex with the woodpeckers. Ofcourse I drill carefully when I want to test accuracy. It would not be fair to drill not carefully and blame the drill guide. I think the accuracy is perfect for what it is. I do not expect it to be 100% accurate, when you drill in 30mm multiplex wood. So, I think my end conclusion is fair. When it cares, you can drill pretty accurate holes. When it does not care that much, well it is a very convenient tool that is easy to use for multiple holes and you results will be more accurate then without a tool like this.
First of all, I want to thank you for the time and effort you put into making your videos; I know it's no small task. However, I am disappointed that you are now charging nearly €50 for access to the plans on your website, especially since they used to be free. Many viewers like me support your videos and you already generate revenue through advertisements on TH-cam. I've noticed that your channel is becoming increasingly commercial, with income from both affiliate links and the sale of your plans. I understand that quality content has value and that creators deserve fair compensation, but I hope you can find ways to keep your content accessible to everyone, perhaps by offering a differentiated pricing model or special deals for loyal followers. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope you take this feedback to heart.
;-) Leuke artikel trouwens, gefeliciteerd :)
If these tools wouldn't be just 1:1 rip offs of European/North American products. Let others do the innovation work, reverse engineer the product and run the CNC. Not a fan at all. That Chinese companies are capable innovating products themselves is proven by e.g. Harvey. But surprise surprise, at basically the same price level as American/European products. If you buy bargains and even worse promote them, you either screw labour conditions in the country of origin or screw the patent holding company in other countries. Would wonder what Dennis would think about finding his plans on AliExpress for a fraction and no share for him at all.
The clamp looks like a Festool copy. When I bought tools from China ( I mean w.o. European Brandname wich does QA) I was disappointed about quality, t rulers that are not square and not keeping calibration.. parallel guides not fitting track they designed for, clamps releasing pressure spontaneously. What normal Customer get, looks significantly different what you review. If you not a TH-camr you have a felt 50% chance to get red alu scrap instead of a tool..

Always a Great DIY'r video. Thanks Dennis you are Great!
Hi Dennis, I've received my "Hooked on Wood" Tee Square and it's at least as good as said it was. Thank you.
I looked at the drill guide and found these gems a bit lower down the web page:
"The orifice sharps are wear-resistant"
&
"Multi-function adjustable Woodworking hole opener"
(Banggood's English is waaaaay better than my Chinese.)
Mooie reviews.
Hey Dennis,
About the T-Track-Clamp on the Longer Steel bar.
Let's think about to Maschine an M20 Thread on it, and put it in one of the Keystones for Your Felder Slider! Will be Lovely.
also the UJK MFT Clamp will Work nicely in there!
That is a great tip!
In regard to your sound changes, due to the rain, the
beginning sound was a little muffled and with your
somewhat deep voice, it was a bit difficult to understand you.
When you changed the sound settings, the overall sound was
cleaner and clearer and it was easier to understand you.
To be clear, I am Not referring to any "accent issues", just the
sound being muffled, combined with your voice and the result
being as though it was garbled, when it was not.
Dennis, i would love to see a video about sharpening stones/plates from bangood, to use with the sharpening guide
I think I will go for the 20mm. There are more accessories for this format, which makes a workbench more versatile.
Finally I have an "excuse" to buy more tools! Love the tool tests, keep'em coming 👌
Sounds reasonable 😁
First and foremost: Thank you very much for this and all the videos you make, for the work and effort you put into those. More than once I followed your recommandation.
I was wondering if you could compare the drillguide by UJK to the one by Banggood in a future video? Maybe even add the version by Rockler. Considering the price of the UJK and Rockler drill guides, I know that would be quite an investment. But I am quite sure it would be appreciated by a lot of people - not just by me.
Dennis, I see you have some new organiser boxes in orange and grey - could you tell me more?
At 8:39 and 9:13 in the video, a depth-stop is clearly visible on the drill guide.
I wonder why it is removed after that, and you haven't mentioned it as a function of the contraption?
Even a cheaper model like the Milescraft 1318 Drillmate (Eur 49,95) has the depth stop function, although it is missing the rail guides.
No reason, it has a depth stop. The shots are made randomly.
Banggood customer support sorted this by sending 2 new rod mounts. Its perfect now.
It would have been interesting how this drill guide compares to the ujk/rockler one.
me too
Hi - Just to let you and other youtubers know: I bought the drill guide based on your enthousiastic review, but I must say my piece is an utter disappointment.
@ figured that so he’s off my goto sources.
I will upload a video of that adventure :-)
The lift mechanism is something I bought. It is the Felder FAT 300S. Unfortunately, not affordable!
Dank voor je review. Gave klemmen.
Goed punt!
Hi Dennis where do you buy that portable drill guide jig from? Dennis you are excellent teacher what to buy love your incra router table. Australia.
Hooked on Wood has become an advertising channel for Bangood, it's all about the money and not about impartiality.
What is the make and model of load cell shown at 3:36 in video.
How much travel is there in the drill guide?
adjustable clamps are OK, but why not use a hold-fast instead? very simple design and simple to use
Hey mate, what were those angle gauge blocks you used?
Really like the drill guide
No depth stops?
I think a drill guide should have good depth stops, which this one doesn't seem to have.

the advantage of Chinese products was the price. it's nice that they are becoming good quality products. But we have the quality that can be found in every store.

Thanks Denis it’s always an honest and trustworthy review thanks for doing what you do
I’ve seen a couple of videos now, more and more wondering who is giving advice to me: his communicative skills suggests that he is (or has been, because this channel appears a full time thing) a senior salesperson or a human resource manager rather than a craftsman or a tax- or IT guy or a lawyer or medical professional.
The links are not working
Thanks for letting me know, will fix it soon👍
Drill guide looks good
It looks amazing and I think for the price it is very attractive!
Denis - Could you confirm the width/height of the 2 clamps with the T-Bar please?
the height capacity is 15cm width I do not know on this moment, but I guess around 10cm
@@HookedonWood I@m thinking for the cross section view. I'm wondering if it will fit a sliding table saw I have which need large T-Bars
Do you prefer those clamps to the Hongdui ones?
Yes, these are easier to use.
Do you use the Hongdui ones at all then?
I used them in specific situations because the aluminum hold down clamp was already easier to use. The Hongdui has an advantage that it clamps inside the hole that will give it more clamping power. Especially in an 18Mm workbench. But because I have a double layer workbench top, or thicker top, these kind of clamps with a shaft give already an impressive clamping force, so it is not necessary to increase that. But for 18mm workbench, and you want some extra clamping pressure, the Hongdui is one of the options to go for. That does not make it the easiest clamp to get. This one will work more convenient.
Don't know I hit the like button. These videos always cost me money...
Hi Dennis! Thank you for showing us the drill guide. I've been looking for one of these but keep hearing stories of how inaccurate they are.
I know which one to buy now. Thanks again!
I bought the drill jig. It is not straight and the run out of the drill chuck is imprecise. As shown here:
th-cam.com/users/shortsgSq6plpE_0A?si=gQd40CtzF1WuG6zd
Thank you for your video. Not sure what it is about these manufacturers and drill guides...? Simply make them more stable - thicken the guide bars so no more (or very little flex)? I could see in your video how careful you had to be at times, in order to achieve accurate angle holes (and having to drill the hole twice). Not worth purchasing until they are more stable. There are other options on the market - and last time I looked - for not much more than this drill guide. Thank you.
" Other options ". Such as ?
Would you mind comparing the hold down clamps to Festool's MFT-HZ 80?
Thank you! Yes, these are a bit more affordable than your usual China tools only rich House of Orange woodworking rockstars can afford! 😉👍 enjoywood 😁
You can’t measure 1/100 mm with a caliper
It is a comparison and the only thing I can show you for some context.
;-) Leuke artikel trouwens, gefeliciteerd :)
😅😅
If these tools wouldn't be just 1:1 rip offs of European/North American products. Let others do the innovation work, reverse engineer the product and run the CNC. Not a fan at all.
That Chinese companies are capable innovating products themselves is proven by e.g. Harvey. But surprise surprise, at basically the same price level as American/European products.
If you buy bargains and even worse promote them, you either screw labour conditions in the country of origin or screw the patent holding company in other countries. Would wonder what Dennis would think about finding his plans on AliExpress for a fraction and no share for him at all.
So the Drill Guide is less than a quarter of the price of the Woodpeckers version. Happy days!
U
The clamp looks like a Festool copy. When I bought tools from China ( I mean w.o. European Brandname wich does QA) I was disappointed about quality, t rulers that are not square and not keeping calibration.. parallel guides not fitting track they designed for, clamps releasing pressure spontaneously. What normal Customer get, looks significantly different what you review. If you not a TH-camr you have a felt 50% chance to get red alu scrap instead of a tool..
Your « new » hold down clamp for dog holes are a pure copy from FESTOOL MFT HZ 80. And the drill guide is a pure copy from Woodpeckers. It’s really shameful you keep making publicity for intellectual property burglars. Shame on you.
